Sandy looked at Tommy, covered in bruises, and felt another surge of rage at the staff member's words. She immediately pulled out her phone.
But before she could even unlock the screen, Anthony snatched it away from her. "What the hell do you think you're doing? Haven't we embarrassed ourselves enough? You want to make this an even bigger scandal and ruin your own reputation?"
"But Dad, look at Tommy!" Sandy was unwilling to back down and tried to grab her phone back.
Unexpectedly, Anthony slapped her across the face. "You failed to teach your own son properly, and now someone else did it for you. What's there to complain about? Just shut up and take this little bastard home!"
Every time Anthony looked at Tommy now, all he could think of was Zim and the brief time he had spent in prison. That alone filled him with rage.
Mary stepped forward and whispered in Sandy's ear, "We just got out. Let's not stir up more trouble."
Sandy clenched her teeth, unwilling to swallow her anger, but she had no choice. She could only endure it.
On the way home, she couldn't hold it in any longer and asked Tommy, "Tommy, why did you do that? Why did you bully that little girl and pull up her skirt?"
To save money and avoid trouble, they had booked a moving van that could fit everyone. The driver overheard Sandy's question and glanced at her and Tommy through the rearview mirror. Tommy opened his mouth to speak, but the movement tugged at the wounds on his lips, making him wince in pain.
The more it hurt, the angrier he became. Frustrated, Tommy blurted out, "I just wanted to see what was underneath. What's wrong with that?"
The driver shot another glance at him through the mirror.
Sandy hadn't expected Tommy to be so blunt. "You're still a kid! What do you need to see that for?"
"Why can't I? I'm a man too! So why is Grandpa allowed to look?" shouted Tommy.
"You little brat, what nonsense are you spouting?" Anthony smacked Tommy on the back of his head.
Tommy immediately started wailing. "I'm not lying! Grandpa, you watch those women on your phone all the time! And you and Dad—you two lock yourselves in the room day and night. I've seen it!"
The moment those words left his mouth, the driver lost control and slammed on the brakes.
Everyone in the car lurched forward. Mary, who wasn't seated properly, was thrown off her seat, slamming her head against the back of the front seat.
Sandy's face burned with embarrassment. "Y-You—But that still doesn't mean you should do something like that!"
"Why not?" Tommy didn't care. "Grandpa said women were born to serve men. I'm a man too, so I can do whatever I want! Mom, didn't you say the same thing to Dad?"
Tommy never thought he was in the wrong. In fact, he was already planning that one day, he would get his revenge.
At that moment, the driver finally lost his patience. He slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden stop by the side of the road. Turning around, he glared fiercely at the passengers and snapped, "Get out of the car! I'm not driving you anymore."
He had two daughters at home. Every day, he worked tirelessly, making deliveries and earning money just for them.
But the thought of his precious daughters possibly encountering boys like this in the future—dealing with families like this—made his blood boil. It upset him so much that he just wanted to throw punches.
"Are you serious? We paid for this ride! If you do this, I'll file a complaint!" Keeley fumed. After all, she was the one who had paid for the ride.
"Go ahead and complain if you want! I said I'm not driving, and that's final. Get out now!" Seeing that none of them were moving, the driver got out, yanked open their doors, and shouted, "All of you, get lost! Don't make me get rough!"
The moment Keeley heard he might get violent, she was the first to jump out of the car.
Next was Anthony, grumbling and cursing, followed by Mary, who looked deeply resentful.
Finally, Sandy and Tommy got out.
The driver shot them all a fierce glare, especially Tommy. "Listen up, kid! I'm warning you—if I ever catch you doing anything illegal, I won't let you off easy."
"Are you insane? Why are you threatening my son?" Sandy shouted in rage. But the driver ignored her, got back in his car, and drove off, leaving them in a cloud of dust.
Once again, Keeley got covered in dust, and the stench on her clothes got even worse.
She turned to Sandy and complained, "This is all your fault! Couldn't you have waited until we got home to ask your questions? But no, you just had to do it in the car! Now look at what happened!"
By the time they managed to book another ride and finally got back to their place, it was already late at night.
As soon as they entered the residential complex and walked toward their building, they noticed a large crowd gathered outside.
When they got closer, they were shocked to see that all their belongings were thrown outside.
"Oh my! Why is all my stuff out here?" Mary was the first to rush over, frantically checking through the scattered items. Even her old bra—the one she had worn for years until the underwire poked through—was among the mess.
"Who did this? Do laws not exist anymore?" Anthony stood among the crowd, shaking with fury but completely powerless.
"What the hell is going on? Why is all our stuff outside? Where's my stuff? Did they throw out my things too?" Keeley was in shock. She had left some valuable items here, such as the designer bags, shoes, and jewelry Josie had bought for her.
Keeley rushed over, frantically searching through the pile of discarded belongings. But after searching for a long time, she found nothing.
Sandy was just as shaken by the scene. She quickly pulled out her keys, about to run upstairs to see what had happened, but just then, the entrance to the building swung open again.
Several tall, muscular men in matching uniforms walked out, each carrying more of their belongings. Without a care, they tossed everything onto the growing pile as if it were just garbage.
"No! That's my stuff!" Mary screamed and rushed forward, trying to catch them, but she was too late.
Pots, pans, and dishes shattered on the ground, along with other household items.
Mary shouted, "Who the hell are you people? Why are you here throwing out our things? You're trespassing, do you even know that?" Sandy stepped forward and pulled out her phone. "I'm calling the police right now!"
Just then, the leader of the men stepped forward. "We're here under Josie's orders to clear out this place and reclaim her property."
Sandy's face went pale. "What did you just say? This is my parents' home! How could it possibly belong to Josie?"
"Yeah. My nephew bought this place for me! We've been living here for years. How the hell is it Josie's now? Oh my, this is injustice! The Godard family is bullying us!" Mary collapsed onto the pile of junk, wailing and sobbing pitifully.
The clueless neighbors, seeing this scene, actually believed they were the victims. After all, the family had been living there for so long—it really did seem like their home.
"Sandy, stop wasting time! Call the cops already!" Even Anthony agreed this time.
But the leader of the men remained calm. Instead of panicking, he took out a stack of documents. "This apartment was purchased during Zim and Josie's marriage—with Josie's money. Yes, you've been living here, but the property deed is under Zim's name.
"That makes it part of their marital assets. Considering that Zim had no assets of his own before marrying into the Godard family, everything he has came from Josie—including this apartment.
"So now that Josie is reclaiming her property, it's completely legal and justified. You all should leave as soon as possible."
