Since work had resumed, there were many things within the company that required Dominick's attention. He couldn't stay in Montera any longer and needed to return as soon as possible.
Upon hearing this news, Grayson felt disappointed.
After spending these past few days together, Serena and Grayson had already developed a good relationship. Knowing that she was about to be separated from Grayson, Serena felt a little down.
"Mom," Serena, already dressed, tugged on Paisley's arm. "Can we take Grayson with us to Harrowfell?"
Paisley hadn't expected Serena to ask Grayson to stay. She crouched down and looked at Serena seriously. "You don't want your brother to leave, right?"
Serena thought for a moment before nodding firmly. "Yeah."
Paisley took a deep breath and patted Serena's shoulder. "Then you go ask him yourself."
Putting aside her own feelings, Paisley was actually happy to see Serena and Grayson getting along so well.
She couldn't deny that the sight of Grayson and Serena helping each other and standing together against Tommy at the family recognition banquet had left a deep impression on her.
Dressed in thick clothes, Serena waddled like a little penguin as she walked. She stopped in front of Dominick and asked seriously, "Can you not take Grayson away and let him come to Harrowfell with us?"
Dominick was also happy to see Serena and Grayson getting along. Even though Serena still refused to call him 'Dad,' at least she was willing to play with Grayson, which was a good start.
Once again, Grayson and Serena stared at him with eager eyes.
"Alright," Dominick crouched down, his gaze sincere. "Then can I hold you for a moment?"
Serena stiffened slightly, hesitation flashing across her face. But when she thought about how Grayson wouldn't have to leave, she reluctantly nodded.
Her small body wobbled as she walked toward Dominick and leaned into his arms.
This was the first time Serena had ever taken the initiative to get close to Dominick.
Dominick's arms wrapped securely around Serena, yet he didn't dare use too much force, afraid of hurting his precious little princess.
His throat tightened, and his Adam's apple moved up and down. Closing his eyes, he felt warmth surge in his heart.
Serena had finally allowed him to hold her.
"Alright, Rena, let's go now. Your uncle is waiting for us downstairs." Paisley's voice ruthlessly interrupted the brief moment of warmth between father and daughter.
"Uncle?" The moment Serena heard that Max had arrived, her eyes lit up. Like a slippery little eel, she wriggled out of Dominick's embrace and ran toward Paisley. "Let's go, Mom, let's go!"
Dominick was rendered speechless.
Serena didn't have many belongings here, so she packed up quickly.
Grayson, on the other hand, had quite a few things, so it took some time to gather everything. The suitcases were carried downstairs by Linna's subordinates.
"Thank you for your help these past few days. We'll be leaving now. Once I get back to Harrowfell, I'll send Sonny back to you," Paisley spoke to Dominick in her usual businesslike tone.
Just hearing that tone made Dominick furious, but he was powerless to do anything. With a bit of resentment, he said, "I'll walk you down."
After saying that, Dominick was the first to stride out of the room, heading straight for the elevator. It was as if his mortal enemy were waiting downstairs, and he was rushing off to a final showdown.
The elevator quickly reached the ground floor, where Max was already waiting at the entrance.
As soon as Serena saw him, she was the first to dash out and leap into his arms. "Uncle! I missed you so much!"
Max effortlessly picked her up and bounced her in his arms. "Hmm? Why do you feel lighter? Have you not been eating properly these past few days?"
"What do you mean? You think I'd let my own daughter go hungry?" Dominick bristled at Max's words, his entire body tensing with irritation.
Max glanced at Dominick, and then gave a faint smile without saying a word.
That look didn't calm Dominick down at all. Instead, it fanned the flames of his anger, sending it straight to his head.
He suddenly felt the urge to throw a punch and teach this scheming man a lesson.
"I ate! I eat a lot every day!" Just then, Serena's soft and adorable voice rang out, instantly dissolving the tense atmosphere.
Dominick lifted his chin and shot Max a glare before turning to Paisley. "I specifically had the hotel's executive chef prepare nutritious meals for the two kids. Don't worry, they're eating very well."
Paisley had no doubt about that. After all, Dominick was the children's biological father. There was no way he'd actually let them go hungry, especially with Linna around.
After Paisley took the children and left, Dominick departed from Montera that afternoon and returned to Harrowfell.
Now that the Godard family's situation had stabilized, Paisley planned to stay for a few more days before heading back to Harrowfell as well.
Maria had already returned to the Harrowfell villa two days ago and had the staff thoroughly clean every corner in preparation for their return.
As soon as Paisley and Max brought the children back to the Godard family estate, they heard news that Florence and Bella were about to be taken away.
"Hmm? Bella's grandmother?" Paisley asked in confusion. She had been at the Godard family estate for quite some time but had never heard of this person.
"Yes. Edmond's ex-wife. They divorced years ago, and she's been living abroad ever since, never returning. This time, she must have heard about what happened with Edmond and Christopher, so she came back to take Florence and Bella away," Max explained.
As they talked, they arrived at the main building.
In the living room, Tyson was speaking with a middle-aged woman who sat gracefully on the sofa.
The woman had a serious expression and rarely smiled. Her entire presence exuded an icy aura, as if she had seen through the ways of the world.
When Paisley returned, Tyson immediately introduced her, "Paisy, this is your second aunt, Dakota."
The middle-aged woman visibly furrowed her brows. "Sorry, but Edmond and I divorced years ago. I'm no longer part of this family. Just address me as Ms. Dixon."
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Dixon." Paisley greeted politely.
Just as the conversation ended, Cole the old butler arrived at the main building, bringing Florence and Bella with him.
Dakota merely glanced at Florence and Bella before her brows knitted in displeasure. It was obvious that she was extremely resistant to the situation.
