Tyson quickly took Serena from Nathaniel and gave her soft body a light toss. He thought, 'Hmm, good. She hasn't lost any weight.'
"Did you miss me?" Tyson asked.
"Missed you! Missed you so much!" Serena said. Then, making sure to be fair, she reached out and held Max's big hand. "I missed Uncle so much too!"
Just those few words had both Tyson and Max beaming, as they completely lost themselves in happiness.
That was when Tyson finally noticed that Nathaniel wasn't alone—Byron had come too.
Shocked, Tyson also felt a slight warmth in his chest.
Holding Serena, Tyson immediately straightened up and gave Byron a small nod. "Byron, you came too?"
Byron didn't care for Tyson, especially when he saw him holding their soft, adorable granddaughter while he himself got nothing. His heart clenched with jealousy. "I'm also her grandpa. Why wouldn't I come?"
Tyson hesitated, and then gave a small, amused smile. After all, they are family in a broader sense.
As they spoke, a tall figure approached. Tyson turned and met Dominick's gaze.
Dominick stepped forward, gave Max a brief glance, and then politely bowed his head slightly toward Tyson. "Uncle."
This time, Tyson's face darkened. "Hmph. What are you doing here? Who let you come?"
With that, he looked behind Dominick. He thought, 'So, even Dominick's whole family came along, including Grayson.'
When Tyson looked at him, Grayson hesitated for a moment before walking forward cautiously. He was a little afraid of Tyson.
Back when they spent some time together in Montera, Grayson had gotten more comfortable around Tyson. He wasn't as scared anymore and could talk to him without feeling too nervous.
But after these past few days, and now Tyson looked serious while staring at Dominick, that fear crept back in.
"Grandpa," Grayson called out in a small voice.
Tyson might have been cold toward Dominick, but Grayson was still his own grandson, Paisley's son.
When he turned to Grayson, his expression softened. He reached out and patted Grayson's head, and then asked the same thing he had asked Serena. "Sonny, did you miss me?"
Grayson had assumed that since Tyson didn't like Dominick, Tyson wouldn't like him either. But instead of being harsh, Tyson actually asked if Grayson had missed him.
The fear in Grayson's eyes faded, and he quickly found that sense of comfort he'd felt in Montera. He nodded eagerly. "Yeah! I missed you, Grandpa!"
Then he turned to Max and, imitating Serena, said awkwardly, "I-I kinda missed Uncle Max too."
Grayson couldn't bring himself to say he missed Max a lot. Somehow, it felt like he was betraying his dad.
But even just saying that much made Dominick's mood sink.
Dominick thought, 'Both of my kids have been completely won over by that scheming bastard Max.'
"Good boy," Max said, gently rubbing Grayson's head. When he looked up, his gaze locked onto Dominick's, who was staring back at him with a murderous glare.
Max smirked slightly and continued talking to Grayson. "Tonight, I will take you, Paisley, and Rena out for dinner."
As soon as Grayson heard that he could eat with Paisley and Rena, he forgot everything else and burst into laughter. "Okay!"
"Grayson." A sharp voice rang out, making Grayson's back go stiff.
Before Grayson could react, Dominick grabbed his arm and pulled away.
Reginald stepped forward with a smile. He hadn't expected Tyson to travel all the way from Montera to Harrowfell.
He could sense Tyson's hostility and hurried to explain. "We heard from Sonny that some boy was bullying Rena at kindergarten, so we came to check on her. We didn't expect to run into the sports day event."
Reginald had meant to explain why they had shown up without notifying anyone. But Tyson only caught the words "some boy was bullying Rena," and his face immediately darkened. The pressure of someone in power radiated off him. "Who? Whose kid is it?"
Jasper's grandpa, who had just regained a bit of color in his face, immediately went pale again.
Jasper's dad felt dizzy, wishing he could just drop dead on the spot. For years, he had worked hard to shed the label of a nouveau riche. Besides donating to charity, he had been studying whenever he could.
Once, he even attended a high-profile business and leadership forum in Montera. Back then, he was a nobody, sitting way in the back. But Tyson had been sitting up on stage, alongside the top leaders. The moment he first laid eyes on Tyson, he had been utterly stunned.
When he later learned that Tyson was Serena's grandfather, he felt completely hopeless.
When Jasper, whose legs had gone numb from crouching down, finally stopped crying and tried to stand up, he found his entire family staring at him again.
Instinctively, Jasper tried to step back, but because his legs were still numb, he stumbled and fell right back down.
"Waaah!" He burst into tears again, sobbing uncontrollably. This time, no one had even hit him yet, but he started confessing on his own, "I was wrong. I was really wrong. I won't bully Rena ever again. I swear, I won't! I was wrong!"
His crying was so dramatic it could move the heavens.
"I think Jasper has realized his mistake. Ultimately, this happened because I failed as a teacher—I didn't notice the problem or correct it in time. I'm truly sorry." Sophia couldn't stand it anymore and stepped forward to take responsibility.
The principal didn't want things to escalate further. Since Sophia had already apologized, she had no choice but to step in as well. "Yes, this was an oversight on our part. We recognize our mistake, and we'll make sure to take better care of the children in the future. This won't happen again."
Just as this whole mess was wrapping up, Paisley finally arrived.
Seeing that the sports day event had already started, Paisley was anxious. As soon as she reached the kindergarten, she quickly thanked Sheela and rushed inside.
"Ms. Sutton, you are here!" No matter how much Sheela called out from behind, Paisley didn't stop.
Sheela looked down at the phone Paisley had left on the passenger seat, and then sighed. She put on her sunglasses and mask before stepping out of the car.
Just as expected, the moment she reached the kindergarten entrance, the security guard stopped her.
"Do you need something?" The guard eyed her warily. The way she was all covered up looked really suspicious.
"I came with the parent who just went in," Sheela said, thinking of Paisley's reason for being there. "We're here for the kids' sports day. I parked the car, so I got here a little late. You saw it too, right? Ms. Sutton got out of my car just now."
The guard had indeed seen that, so he nodded. "Alright, register first. I'll check inside."
"Sure." Sheela didn't resist. She simply took out her ID and handed it over. "Here's my ID. You can hold onto it if you need to."
The guard took the ID and glanced at the name. His eyes immediately widened. "Sheela? The famous celebrity Sheela?"
Sheela lifted her sunglasses slightly and pulled down her mask a bit, revealing her stunning face. "Yeah, it's me. Want an autograph?"
"Did you miss me?" Tyson asked.
"Missed you! Missed you so much!" Serena said. Then, making sure to be fair, she reached out and held Max's big hand. "I missed Uncle so much too!"
