In the video, Marcus was operating when a phone started ringing.
Without stopping, he told his assistant:
"Check who's calling. If it's my wife, ignore it..."
The assistant glanced at the caller ID and whispered back:
"Professor, it's Sophia..."
Before the assistant could finish, Marcus quickly put down his scalpel and snapped at him:
"It's Sophia and you're not answering?! What are you waiting for?!"
The assistant looked at Emma on the table, hesitated for a few seconds, then reluctantly picked up.
Sophia's voice came through, tearful:
"Marcus, are you sure that report was a misdiagnosis? I'm still worried. Connor woke up this morning complaining he felt sick. Can you come take a look?"
"Sophia, don't worry. I'm never wrong. Connor's perfectly healthy..."
"Marcus, don't you care about Connor and me anymore? Why are you being so heartless?"
Sophia's crying got heavier.
Marcus hesitated for a moment, then decisively took off his surgical gown.
With an indulgent smile, he comforted her:
"Alright, alright, I can't say no to you. Wait for me—I'll be right there."
The assistant stared in shock as Marcus removed his gown.
He pointed at Emma on the table, his voice shaking:
"Professor, Emma's surgery just started. You know how hard it was to find this kidney. Emma's condition is critical—if we don't do this surgery today, she won't make it through the month. How can you leave now?"
Marcus didn't stop packing.
He glanced at his assistant, then walked to Emma's bedside and took her hand.
Leaning down, he whispered in her ear:
"Emma, Connor's fighting monsters right now. If Daddy doesn't go help, Connor will be in danger. Can you wait here for Daddy? Once Daddy saves Connor, I'll come back and save you..."
Emma weakly squeezed Marcus's hand.
Fighting through her pain, she replied:
"It's okay, Daddy. Emma's the strongest. Go save Connor first. I'll wait right here for you. Don't worry—I won't tell Mommy or make her mad at you..."
Marcus gently touched Emma's head.
Without hesitation, he turned and left through the back door.
Less than two seconds later, Marcus came back.
He pointed to the kidney meant for Emma's transplant:
"Get two assistants to prep that kidney. I'm taking it with me..."
Before Marcus could finish, his assistant dropped to his knees in front of Emma's operating table.
Eyes red, he looked at Emma, then at Marcus:
"Professor, Connor was misdiagnosed! This kidney won't help him at all, but it could save Emma's life! Have you lost your mind?!"
His plea didn't change Marcus's mind.
"I need to see Connor myself to know if it was a misdiagnosis. Didn't you hear Sophia say he's feeling sick again? Hurry up, stop wasting time. Connor is Sophia's only hope—I can't let anything happen to him!"
The assistant had no choice but to follow orders.
After everything was ready, Marcus sighed:
"Give Emma some anesthesia so she won't suffer. I'll find another kidney source quickly. And don't let any other doctors in here—it's bad for my reputation..."
Then he left without looking back.
The assistant stood helplessly in the OR watching Emma.
Within seconds, when he turned back after getting the anesthesia, blood was already soaking through the operating table...
The rest of the footage showed the assistant stumbling out to get me...
This surveillance video was under thirty minutes long.
Which meant Professor Kane—famous for being devoted to his daughter—spent only thirty minutes with her during her life-or-death moment.
Because of one phone call from his female student, he abandoned his own child without hesitation.
After the video ended, I was shaking with rage.
But I knew there was something more important to do.
I steadied myself, put away my phone, and ignored Marcus's ashen face as I turned to the reporters below.
"I know every one of you came here to watch the Winston family's downfall at Marcus's invitation. But now you've seen the bloody truth of how Marcus killed my daughter. Are you still going to side with this beast against my family?!"
"I ask every one of you—who doesn't have children? Who doesn't have a lover? If you saw your lover treat your own child this way for their mistress, how would you feel?!"
The crowd fell silent.
Finally, a voice came from the corner:
"Miss Winston, we came here to make a living, but we're still decent people. I've turned off my camera. I swear—I won't say a word about what happened here today! Marcus Kane must get what he deserves!"
Others quickly agreed.
Within minutes, all the blinding camera flashes had disappeared.
I felt relief seeing this.
Then I turned to Marcus, who stood there in shock, and slapped him hard.
"You beast! Get on your knees and apologize to my daughter!"
