The enormous profit instantly went to their heads.
"Good! Wonderful! Lilith, my dear daughter, wait for us, we're coming right away!"
The next day, Johnson and Cynthia, this couple blinded by greed, led by Lilith, blocked the Sinclair family gate, demanding to see me.
As soon as we met, Cynthia rushed forward trying to grab my hand, but I dodged sideways.
She wasn't embarrassed and immediately began wiping away tears, crying dramatically.
"Yara, my daughter! You've suffered! It's all mom and dad's fault. We shouldn't have listened to Lilith's words and kicked you out..."
"But we raised you for so many years after all. You can't just watch the Allens family collapse!"
Johnson also chimed in: "Help your father out, consider it repaying our years of raising you."
Looking at their entitled faces, I only felt ironic.
Back then, because of their guilt toward Lilith, they gave me cold looks and threw me out like garbage.
Now, seeing me transformed into real nobility, they wanted to hold up the banner of "raising grace" to extract my value.
I coldly withdrew my hand.
"Mr. Allens, Mrs. Allens."
"Your grace in raising me was already repaid during those five years when I married Felix, created an alliance between the Allens and Smith families, and devoted myself completely."
"Now, we owe each other nothing."
Their faces became awkward, and they exchanged glances.
My adoptive mother immediately took out a toy bear, washed until it was white, from her expensive bag.
"Yara, look, do you remember this?"
She handed the bear to me, trying to squeeze out a loving smile on her face.
"This was the birthday gift I bought you in your first year with our family. Look, we've always kept it for you. We've always remembered you in our hearts."
I looked at that little bear and smiled.
Of course I remembered.
I also remembered that in Lilith's first year back, her birthday gift was a villa worth ten million.
Such blatant favoritism, yet they now had the nerve to talk about feelings with this broken bear.
Seeing me silent, they continued their offensive:
"Yara, actually Lilith and us just have a blood relationship, we're not really close. She comes home and is picky and spoiled, not considerate and caring like you at all."
They thought that by badmouthing Lilith in front of me, they could let me vent.
Johnson rubbed his hands and said with an embarrassed smile:
"We still miss you, Yara. How about this—you come back, and you can be our goddaughter!"
"This way we can become in-laws with Mr. Sinclair. You go back and act cute with your father, ask the Sinclair family to invest two hundred million in us! No, five hundred million!"
Cynthia nodded repeatedly:
"Right, right! From now on we'll be in-laws. Your real parents' money is your money, isn't it? What's wrong with sharing some with us?"
"You bring the money back, and we'll live well together like before! We won't dislike you anymore!"
I was amused by these two people's logic.
They kicked me out but still wanted me to give them money—what kind of logic was that?
"Five hundred million to repay your grace in raising me?" I looked at them with icy eyes, "Fine."
Hearing this, they immediately beamed with joy.
I changed my tone: "However, I have one condition."
"Say it! Not just one, we'd agree to a hundred!"
I looked at their greedy faces and said slowly: "I want you to publish a statement in the newspaper cutting all ties with me! Then apologize to me and admit how you threw me out for Lilith's sake."
Their faces instantly became as ugly as pig liver.
"Yara! You... how can you be so heartless!"
"We raised you for twenty years after all! You want to ruin our reputation!"
I smiled.
"So you do know that what you did was shameful."
I was too lazy to waste more words with them and directly told the butler: "From now on, these people are never allowed to step foot in the Sinclair family gate again."
