Defeated Jungwon was, his feet were heavy in each step of the way as he stride down the cafeteria. Both Sunoo and Ni-ki sat at their usual spot. The two noticed the incoming presence of their friend, and immediately averted their focus from their food, and to the sullen boy.

"Hey Sunoo, 'am sorry about earlier. I'm out of myself these days." The morose Jungwon grumbled his apology, eyes still glued to the floor as he sat beside Sunoo, who was casually eating his baked sushi.

"It's okay, I know you must've been stressed and overwhelmed." Sunoo shrugs and continues to eat his food, while Jungwon only nodded, still half-guilty and annoyed. He doesn't even know where to pinpoint his annoyance. Should it be on Hani? Or himself?

Ni-ki chose to ignore whatever Jungwon were apologising to Sunoo for, having been too preoccupied with the online mobile game he was playing while hastily shoving spoonfuls of fried rice to his mouth whenever his character gets killed.

Sunoo was busy with his food, and so was Ni-ki with his game. Jungwon didn't have any appetite to fill his stomach until it hurt, nor is he interested in playing any game at the moment.

So, when his eyes roamed the cafeteria uninterestedly, the least he expected was to see Hani with tearful and swollen eyes. Her face was red and her skin glowed like a melancholic moon in the middle of a grey and dull night.

There was a sting in his heart when he saw her in that state. And at that very moment, there's nothing that he wants other than to remove the more obvious glum frown on Hani's face.

The glum look was instantly removed from Jungwon's face and it was instead replaced with an expression laced with worry.

"Ah! I can't believe we lost to those noobs. They only had one tower left! Arrghhh." Ni-ki rants out of a sudden, almost throwing his phone to the table before whispering a train of curses when he found out that he lost his merit in the video game he was playing.

Ni-ki's eyebrows were furrowed as his hand reached for his banana milk. However, his furrowed eyebrows became even more furrowed when another hand reached to his banana milk and stole it away.

"Jungwon hyung!" Ni-ki exclaims as he tries to take his drink back. After a fierce fight, all he wanted was a sweet little compensation that could boost him into getting his merit back to the next match.

But Jungwon had other plans in mind for his 'sweet little compensation'.

"Go buy another one." Jungwon nudged his wallet towards Ni-ki, his hands already busy with Sunoo's organiser. He looked at Hani from a distance, she was busy finding a seat.

Okay, she's still here. Jungwon thought. I need to be fast, or I won't get the chance.

Where's the whole 'I won't mind Hani anymore' mindset? Who was the Jungwon that swore not to cross paths with the frown-faced girl and certainly won't let his little crush return to his heart?

Because all that there is now, is a Jungwon who stole his younger friend's banana milk and is also rushing to steal a post-it and a ballpen from Sunoo.

Hani surely won't take it if I give it. That's the only thing in Jungwon's mind as he continues to fumble with Sunoo's organiser, all while he continues to slap Ni-ki's hands as he tries to get the banana milk back.

He was barely heartbroken for a day, and here he is now. This was so unlike him, and as soon as Ni-ki realised that, he gave up trying to get his banana milk.

And alas, Jungwon saw blue post-its, and Sunoo's pencil case. Hurried he was, Jungwon quickly withdrew it. He has no idea what to write, but he has to make sure Hani won't know it's from him.

The first thing that came into his mind were cats, and so he drew them.

Thank the summer art classes his grandmother asked him to take, because at least he could draw a reasonable excuse for a cat. It was cartoon-y and cute, Jungwon never knew he could draw something effortlessly full of effort. Redundant, but that's exactly what Jungwon felt.

He drew a cat with a sad face and crossed it out. After that, he then drew another one with a smile. He drew flowers and stars around it.

And when he was satisfied with it, he quickly slapped it on the banana milk before hurriedly stood up, galloping from his seat, and onto the table where Hani left her belongings as she now orders food at the cashier, which is reasonably far.

Hani was right, cat memes are the best when it comes to expressing yourself.

A smile would look better on you, Hani. Jungwon was the one smiling at the mere thought of making his crush smile. The disappointment and frustration that Jungwon once felt is long forgotten as the feeling of joy and admiration swelled his heart.

Without another thought in his mind, Jungwon left Hani's table with a huge grin on his face. He was confident that Hani would love his small present, even though she would have no idea it's his.

Going back to the table he shared with his two friends, he ignored the teasing looks he got and instead directed a question to Sunoo with a smile. "Hey Sunoo, where did you buy your blue post-its?"

"Thank you." Meanwhile, Hani politely whispered out as she took her food tray and bowed to the server before leaving to get to her table. Earphones connected to her phone, one of its buds was hanging loosely around her ears so she could still hear everything.

Oh, I forgot to order a drink. Hani was about to turn back and order a drink, but when she noticed a familiar yellow carton, her head tilted, intrigued that it also had a blue paper stuck on it.
Just then, one of her favourite songs played.

My Heart It Beats by Grent Perez.

A classic love song that makes her just believe in fantasy and cliche tropes that could only be witnessed in teen romance movies and books.

♫ My heart, it beats for you~
Though we are miles apart,
my lovin' it will always
Follow you
M
ore and more each day ♫

Did someone accidentally put it here? Hani neared her table and put the tray of food down. She sat down, and her fingers grazed over the blue post-it, and only then did she notice that there was something written— or rather, drawn on it.

A smile escaped her lips. It was a messy doodle of cute cats, which conveyed a message. Is it telling me to smile?

Hani chuckled before taking the blue post-it off of the carton of banana milk. She stared at it, and her heart started beating faster.

♫ And you are like the stars
That no matter where you are
I don't feel so far away ♫

"Only Jungwon knows that I like cats." Hani softly murmurs. Did he put this here? She thought. Hani began to look around. Left, right, behind her, and in front of her. Alas, there was the boy with cat eyes. In the distance, he laughed with his friends.

It was a huge contrast to the irritable Jungwon she saw minutes ago. The smile on her face curved up even more. So.. he's not mad at me? After bawling my eyes out, he's actually not angry at me?

Hani could only laugh at herself. It was so silly of her to be assuming things. She didn't cry because she was feeling blue all of a sudden, it's because she thought Jungwon was mad at her for not facing him when she insisted for his assistance.

♫ Oceans that crash along the shore
Return to calmer waves across the sea
A moment of clarity ♫

Hani looked at the blue post-it again, before taking out her journal, and slipping it in one of the pages to conserve its perfect shape.

Jungwon wants me to smile, I shouldn't beat myself out with what happened. She talked to herself out of the embarrassment she was beginning to feel.

Truth be told, Jungwon was the first ever person that she willingly talked to, so he is not just some stranger in her life. With that mere interaction, Jungwon is already a whole lot special for Hani. As much as she could, she wanted to try and please him, so he'd stay with her.

Maybe that's also the reason she reached out to him about tutoring. Even though she knew she was still not ready, she insisted because Jungwon would've liked it.

♫ No matter what the future holds
It's you my heart beats for ♫

Hani doesn't even know why, but the moment they locked into each other's eyes, something about Jungwon made her feel more than her anxiety. Something more profound... something that did more than just make her stomach churn in unreasonable nervousness.

Her heart was beating faster, but it was a different kind of beating. It was a never-felt before experience, and as much as it takes a lot of energy for Hani, she couldn't help but like that feeling; The feeling she feels whenever she talks to Jungwon.

Now more than ever, she wants to beat her anxiety. For the first time in her whole anxious life, she wants to rid herself of the only thing which held her back for years. And Jungwon is the reason for it.

"Look, Jungwon hyung." Ni-ki slaps Jungwon's shoulder repeatedly with a huge grin on his face as he hurries Jungwon to look at where he was pointing at.

The latter followed Ni-ki's gaze, and it landed on Hani. She was smiling beautifully, sparkling like the brightest star in the millions of others. She was glowing, and Jungwon watched in awe as a chuckle escaped her lips.

Even though he could not hear her coy voice, Jungwon's heart absolutely clenched when her nose subconsciously scrunched. To him, admiring Hani is painfully breathtaking. Even just seeing her from afar made Jungwon's day a whole lot better.

Jungwon saw how Hani carefully lifted the blue post-it and delicately put it on a notebook, patting it afterwards as she took a sip of her banana milk, eyes closed as her lips still curved upwards.

"Absolutely adorable."
