The cell was dark, save for the dim lamp that was mounted on an aluminium post just outside. The damp flooring and leaking cracked walls had me freezing up, so much so that my skin was covered with goosebumps. The strong stench of rust and ammonia clung to every breath I took, making me sneeze until I couldn't anymore.
I stared at the cell door, the dried blood smeared on some of the vertical bars telling a story of torture. My heart constricted at the mere imagination of my blood being next to be spilt in the dark cell, making my stomach churn. I didn't know how long I had been in the cell, but my tears had dried up, and all I did was rock back and forth, whispering to myself.
Screams of other prisoners echoed through the dungeons, prompting me to cover my ears. It was, however, futile, and I could still hear every cry, every plea, every insult, every sound of bones cracking and every sound of the whip as it came into contact with the flesh. I shifted on the floor to sit on my side, and that is when I noticed something in my pyjama pocket.
"Woah," I whispered, managing a half smile when I discovered it was my phone. The alpha kings must have missed it when they were dragging me into the dungeons.
I quickly dialled my dad's number, the phone almost slipping from my trembling hand. I managed to catch it, but in the process I pressed the loudspeaker button, the sound of the first ring loud enough for any werewolf in the dungeons to catch on.
"No, no," I mumbled, my heartbeat increasing. I prayed that no one had heard, at the same time hoping that my dad would pick up soon. Instead, the sound of the keys dangling sounded. I didn't have enough time to react as Rick came into view, his lips curved into a malicious smirk. I shoved the phone behind me, swallowing hard.
"Well, well, well…what do we have here?" he asked, unlocking the cell door. I kept my mouth shut as he approached me, his gaze calculated.
"I asked you a question." He squatted in front of me. "Slut," he added, the insult eliciting a boiling feeling that I couldn't control within.
Like before, I swung a slap at him, but this time he caught it, just inches from his face. His gaze darkened right before he lowered his eyes to my lips.
"What do they say?" He squeezed my hand, his lips twitching when I let out a small whimper.
"Slap me once, shame on you; slap me twice, shame on me," he mocked, forcing his free hand behind my back despite my attempts to stop him. My shoulders slumped when he seized the phone and ended my dad's call. My eyes stung with tears as he stood up and crashed the phone beneath his boot, sealing my fate in the capital.
"Oh, come on now, don't look so defeated. I can still make your last day enjoyable." I crawled away to the corner, his words sending icy chills down my body.
"Now that the alpha kings have cast you away like the useless escort you are, I can finally make good use of you." He smiled while I braced myself. There was no way I could allow him near my body without a fight. It was time to put my training to use and stand up for myself.
"I dare you to try," I challenged, pulling myself up onto my feet. With my fists clenched, shoulders squared and feet apart, I glared at him, anticipating his attack.
"Do you really think a fist from a wolfless girl can stop me from tasting you? Can't you see the harder you try to block me, the more you are making this enjoyable for me?" he spoke, palming his hard dick under his combat trousers. I belched, my churning stomach contents pushing to be let out.
So not only were the alpha kings heartless to sentence me to death, but they were also cruel enough to allow men to assault women. What sort of leaders were they? I shook my head, pressing my teeth together.
"Stay away from me," I warned Rick as he once again approached, licking his lower lip. My adrenaline was shooting up, to the point my vision was turning red.
"I mean it," I added, my voice cracking.
"Make me," he rasped, rubbing his hands together. I should have known he was trying to rile me up as a distraction, because as soon as I opened my mouth to speak, he pounced on me. I tried to wiggle out of his grasp on my wrists as he pushed me face-first against the concrete wall, holding my hands behind my back.
"Let me go," I instructed, my voice weaker than I anticipated. I wiggled, only for him to push his front against my back. The contact had the pit in my stomach growing.
"N-o pl-ease," I whispered, still trying to free myself.
"Giving up so easily?" he mocked, his stale breath fanning the side of my face. With as much strength and power as I could master, I raised my leg and stomped on his boot, sending him stumbling back, swearing profanities at me.
"You shouldn't have done that." I ran to the cell door with one goal in mind: to get as far away as I could from him. As soon as I held the bars, I was pulled back and slammed on the floor. Pain radiated from the back of my head, down to my back, rendering me motionless for some seconds as stars exploded behind my eyes.
"No, no, pl-ease," I cried out as he knelt above me, an evident smirk on his ugly shaved face. I thrashed on the floor, trying to kick him, but he didn't move.
"I told you, the more you resist, the more..." I could hear his voice from afar, almost as if it was fading away with every word he spoke. The throbbing in the back of my head was intensifying, and soon I was struggling to keep my eyes open. I could feel his hands roaming all over my body, but I couldn't move; only streams of tears escaped from my closed eyes.
Before I could completely get sucked into the darkness, I, however, heard the cell door being pushed open and an additional voice. My last thought was a prayer to the Moon Goddess to protect me, if she really existed.
