Delaney
I was rocking back and forth on the floor, a storm of thoughts churning inside my head, when a knock came through. After staying locked up in the room for the rest of the day, my head was pounding so hard that standing felt like a risk. I closed my eyes, debating whether to open the door or keep quiet until whoever was knocking gave up and left.
"It's me, Del." Came Nyra's voice. I smiled weakly, telling her to come in.
"Oh god, Del," she whispered when her eyes landed on me, enveloping me in a big hug. I didn't know I needed it until I felt the salty taste of tears on my lips.
"I missed you," I admitted, my lips trembling. "This is not how I pictured our reunion to be," I added.
"I should have been there for you, babes," she replied, her voice breaking.
"You must have a lot of questions, Nye," I croaked, leaning on her shoulder.
"They can wait until this is all over," she assured, rubbing the side of my upper left arm.
"I don't know what to do; I just..." I trailed off, sniffling.
"I know what happened, your dad told me. I could have never guessed you didn't a wolf," she began, her voice calming.
"I am sorry I never told you," I whispered, biting the inside of my cheek.
"It's okay, I know you were scared. But that's not the issue right now." As she spoke, my wolf stirred, after having retreated earlier.
'I want our mates." My wolf growled inside my mind, pushing against the wall that I had raised between her and my human side.
'They are killers,' I snapped back, resisting the urge to bang my head on the floor.
'They made a mistake," she argued back, pacing back and forth.
I pressed my hands against my ears, trying to block her out. Every attempt was met with resistance, the headache growing, feeling like she was using a hammer to hit my head from the inside.
"Delaney?" Nyra shook me gently, her brows closely knitted together.
"My wolf," I relayed, closing my eyes so tightly. Just then, grunts of pain echoed inside the house, followed by my father's loud voice calling me.
We raced down the stairs, my eyes widening as I took in the scene right in the middle of the living room. Alpha Kai and Ronan hunched, heaving for breath, their eyes switching between their usual grey colour and golden yellow.
"Shit," I muttered, a pull like never before dragging me towards them. It was like I had no control over my actions, despite trying to stay rooted far from them.
"Too much," Kai ground out, a vein in his forehead popping, throbbing as if it was seconds from exploding.
"We can't hold them back!" Ronan cried out, dropping on his knees.
"It's their wolves, Delaney. The last time their wolves took over, they killed everything on their path," my father explained, his wording rushed.
My wolf surged forward violently with a growl, sending searing pain across my skull, blinding me momentarily.
"Stop!" I screamed, but she was having none of it.
The tips of my fingers and the back of my neck tingled, heat engulfing every part of my body.
"Honey, please stop fighting it, you will die," my father pleaded beside me, placing his hand on my back. I pushed him, and despite knowing that I wasn't supposed to lash out at him, I had no control over my actions. My wolf was taking over, forcing her way out to the alpha kings, to our mates.
"Aaah!" Heat ran in my veins, through my bones, leaving a trail of burning fire in its wake. Then the first bone cracked, the pain consuming me in ways I couldn't even begin to fathom. It was 100 times worse than the first shift, with every bone sucking the air out of my lungs.
"Plea-se, Delaney," Ronan crawled to me, fur sprouting all over his body.
"Oh god, this is bad," I could hear my dad saying from afar, his voice muffled by my own screams.
My spine cracked, my back bending as my claws scratched on the floor. I felt like I was being torn in two, my wolf determined to get what she wanted. Nyra dropped to her knees beside me, while my father crouched. I could see the fear in his eyes, but my wolf pushed harder.
"Ours," the twin alpha kings roared in synchronisation, their voices deepening, their wolves, just like mine, taking over.
"Mine," my wolf asserted, locking me behind her dominance.
"There is a possibility that she will never regain her human side if her wolf takes over." My father said, his voice barely above my whisper, tone defeated.
"Delane-y," Kai called, pushing himself towards me. His canines were now elongated. My wolf panted at the sight of him, and despite the pain, heat pooled between my legs.
"Plea-se forgive us," Ronan added, his deep, animalistic voice sending chills down my broken spine. I wanted them, both of them, right there and then. Any thoughts of what they had done evaporated momentarily.
"Just say yes, and their wolves will stop pushing, and in return, yours will also retreat, and this pain will end." I closed my eyes at my dad's words and tried connecting to my wolf.
"Think about the lives in your hands according to the prophecy, the mates that have died because of the witches. Think about how you can stop that from happening, how you can preserve lives once you accept your mates," he continued, his emotions raw.
My wolf howled in victory, seconds from locking me away as she took over. She was willing to do anything to have her mates, and, like it seemed, so were their wolves. I couldn't be the reason an entire kingdom lost their kings and then perished in the hands of evil witches.
'Stop, please,' I begged. It took a lot for me to give in. 'I accept them as our mates.' It was hard to say that, knowing that I was giving myself to the men who nearly ended me.
"You are mine," she said out loud, the alpha kings' eyes lighting up.
"We won't let you get hurt again," Kai assured, and this time something deep down made it easy to believe him.
"We will die before harming you," Ronan seconded. I watched as their eyes switched back to normal, and their fur sank back. At the same time, my wolf calmed down, my cracked bones rearranging themselves back. My pyjamas had torn in the process, so Nyra draped a blanket that had been on the couch over me.
My father heaved out a loud breath. "Finally, you got me scared."
I chuckled, turning my attention back to the alpha kings. My skin was tingling, and all I wanted at that moment was their touch on my body. It was as if I had turned on a switch after accepting them as my mates. Yes, the thoughts of their betrayal still lingered, but they were not as powerful as before.
I didn't resist as they embraced me, Kai behind me and Ronan in front of me. Both men buried their faces on either side of my neck. My legs turned weak as they pressed themselves further against my body, their hard cocks a confirmation that I wasn't the only needy one.
"Do you mind coming to my room?" I asked without thinking. I felt complete, the emptiness in my chest was gone, and my wolf and I were harmonised.
"No, Delaney, we don't mind," Kai whispered, leaving a peck against the length of my neck.
"We would love to," Ronan finished, brushing his lips over my ear.
