Something unbridled and hot ignited from my chest, curled around my stomach and spread to my entire body. It sparked under my fingertips, forcing claws to extend as my neck tingled, fur sprouting. My mouth opened, a growl leaving it, so deep that I felt my chest vibrate.
“How dare you?” I thundered at Rick, slashing my claws across his swollen face. He groaned in pain, blood gushing out violently. My wolf was taking over, and so was Ronan’s. His eyes were turning to golden yellow, while his ears, nose and cheeks became mottled.
“Why didn't you tell us?” I faced Delaney, my pulse quickening.
“On the platform set to hang me? Is that the time I was supposed to tell you?” I flinched, her words cutting deep.
“Oh wait, I should have been like,” she went on, waving her hand in the air. “Excuse me, alpha kings, your guard sneaked into the cell, broke my phone and decided to have his way with me forcefully,” she mocked in a light voice, raising her head.
“Delaney, please,” Ronan said, trying to keep his cool.
“I didn't think you'd do anything about it,” she shrugged, but that didn't hide the emotions she was experiencing. Her lips were trembling, and her eyes were filling up quickly.
“How could you possibly think that?” Ronan enquired, his nostrils flaring.
“Your guards take turns with your escorts after you are done with them!” she revealed, pressing her palm over her mouth as she let out a low cry.
“Where the hell did you hear that?” I seethed, kicking Rick in the ribs when she looked at him, giving us a silent answer.
“He thought that I was an escort, that…” She didn't finish the statement; she couldn't while she was gasping for breath.
“I tried defending myself, but…he overpowered me,” she breathed, visibly trembling. Ronan wrapped her arms around her, trying to soothe her.
“Did he?” I couldn’t finish the statement, not without hating myself for allowing a monster near her.
“N-o,” she stuttered. “Someone walked into the cell, right before I lost consciousness.” Goddess knew how much horror she had gone through, crying for help, alone, scared and without a wolf.
“What did we do?” I asked Ronan, my voice low.
“We are so sorry, Delaney,” he whispered, rubbing her back as she sniffled. I hated watching as she sobbed; the sound of her cries muffled my Roman’s chest.
She pulled away from the embrace, wiping her tears furiously with the back of her hand. “We have never condoned any type of sexual assault in this kingdom, and everyone knows that.” I tried to explain.
“You must have been so uncomfortable in the estate knowing that Rick was still a guard…” I trailed off, remembering her outburst while we were driving to the capital from her pack. The way she had suddenly thrown up while talking about a certain guard and the dungeon.
“Rick,” I said. “She was remembering his assault that day she puked, brother,” I addressed Ronan, his brows furrowing as he took in my words.
“You don't deserve to walk on the same earth as Delaney,” I seethed, turning to face Rick. I could feel his wolf, weak beneath his skin, struggling to stay alive. At that moment, I mind-linked the head guard in the dungeons for our torture tools, including a fire branding tool. They were always kept in the dungeons, ready to be used on anyone who refused to talk.
“But killing you would be letting you off easy,” Ronan chimed in, his hands clenching and unclenching at his side.
“So we are going to do what we do to shameful men like you and worse,” I continued, the hot, unfettered feeling returning, flowing in my veins. My throat was dry, mouth watering, salivating for his infected blood.
“Things are about to get messy in here, do you still want to stay?” I asked Delaney, hoping that she would choose to leave. The last thing I wanted was for her to get affected by the torture we were going to unleash on Rick. He was already whimpering, knowing very well what was heading his way.
“I want to watch every groan, every cry, every discomfort from him. I want to watch him suffer,” Delaney spat, her voice breaking.
“Very well,” Ronan said, just as the head guard Morris came in with the iron box full of the tools.
“Which hand touched Delaney the first time and the second time?” I began, lowering my face, closer to Rick's swollen one. He swallowed hard, barely meeting my hard gaze.
“I asked you a question.” I stomped on his feet, the sound of bones cracking filling the cell.
“B-ot-h,” he forced the words out, his voice barely audible.
“Hacksaw,” Ronan spread his hand, smirking with his eyes darkening as Morris handed it to him. Ronan and I had worked so many cases together, we always worked in sync. So both of us knew what the other was thinking.
“Alpha kings,” Morris called, bowing his head.
“He has lost a lot of blood,” he pointed out, his voice shaky, given the aura that was rolling off my brother and me.
“And?” I raised a brow.
“If you amputate him, he will die, and I know you want him alive,” he explained, and as much as I hated it, he was right. So with a silent exchange between Ronan and me, we agreed to do one thing.
“No matter, we can amputate something else,” Ronan began, circling Rick, who was grunting.
“You used your dick to think,” I roared, kneeing him again between his legs.
“So you don't deserve to have it,” Ronan added, standing beside me, right in front of Rick, who was laughing, not quite loud but enough to mock us. It was almost as if he had nothing to lose.
When I pulled the cloak off his body, my eyes widened, while Ronan swore and Delaney gasped. Morris hung his head, looking everywhere else but at us.
“Son of a bitch,” Ronan added, eyes narrowing. There was no dick to cut, because someone had literally clawed it off and sewn the remaining skin messily, still oozing blood. Someone had gotten to Rick before us and delivered the punishment.
The question was, who was bold enough, knew about Rick's actions towards Delaney and decided to take revenge?
“Who did you tell about Rick?” I turned, looking at Delaney.
“No one,” she whispered, looking at me with her tear-filled eyes.
“Who did this?” Ronan questioned Rick, gripping his jaw so hard. Instead of answering, Rick’s eyes widened while he attempted to shake his head. Listening closely, I could feel his weak heartbeat accelerating.
Who the hell had instilled so much fear into him, besides me and Ronan?
