My eyes flew open as I stared at Gloria in shock. "You killed Dora?"
"Guilty as charged," Gloria said with a smug smirk, her eyes gleaming with pride, as if she'd accomplished something remarkable.
I couldn't process it.
The truck that hit Dora had no plates, and the driver vanished without a trace. The police hit dead ends, and Dora's death remained a mystery.
For weeks, I relived that nightmare—Dora's scream, the screech of tires, her broken body on the pavement.
Every time I woke up, rage burned inside me with nowhere to go.
No justice. No closure.
Dora deserved peace, and I swore if I ever found the person responsible, I'd make them pay—no matter the cost.
And now Gloria was standing in front of me, casually admitting she'd orchestrated it.
All because she wanted Spencer.
Dora was a person—young, kind, full of life. How could Gloria treat her like some disposable obstacle?
God, I hated her.
Revelation After My Daughter's Death
I trembled, my vision red with fury as I faced this monster.
Gloria just shrugged. "I figured if your daughter was gone, Spencer would leave you. But even after you gave up, he still clung to you. What a waste of effort." She smirked. "But now that you're divorced, I still have a shot." She tilted her head. "Don't look at me like that. Go ahead, call the cops. I have friends in high places. You? You're nothing. You'll never win."
Her arrogance was the last straw.
My fingers closed around a pair of scissors.
"You're going to pay with your life."
I lunged.
Gloria's eyes widened in shock—she hadn't expected me to actually do it. She stumbled back, panic flashing across her face.
"Linsey, stop!"
Spencer's voice cut through the air as he grabbed my wrist.
"She murdered our daughter, and you're protecting her?" I spat, my voice raw with betrayal.
"Think about what you're doing," he said firmly, tightening his grip. "This isn't the way."
Gloria let out a relieved laugh. "See, Spencer? You still care about me—"
But Spencer didn't even glance at her. His eyes locked onto mine. "I already lost Dora. I won't lose you too." His voice dropped to a whisper. "If you want her dead... let me do it."
Before I could react, he wrenched the scissors from my hand—
And plunged them straight into Gloria's chest.
Blood sprayed.
Time froze.
I stood there, stunned, as Gloria collapsed, her face twisted in disbelief.
Spencer didn't flinch.
The room was silent except for Gloria's ragged breaths as she crumpled to the floor.
Then, calmly, Spencer pulled out his phone.
"Hello, police? I'd like to report a homicide."
