Seeing me go back to my room, Grayson immediately tried to follow, but Raven stopped him.
"Gray, why are you guys fighting so badly? Tessa seems really pissed."
Raven wasn't about to waste this golden opportunity, so she kept trying to fan the flames.
But this time, Grayson didn't take the bait.
He frowned impatiently, his tone particularly cold.
"Enough. Stop talking. I brought you here to calm Tessa down, not to make things worse."
Raven's expression froze instantly.
When she spun around, she realized I'd just walked back out, and suddenly didn't know where to look.
"Just grabbing tissues. Don't mind me," I said flatly.
Grayson's face went ice-cold as he blocked my path.
"Tessa, I brought Raven here today to clear things up. I've been helping her because she's raising a kid alone."
Hearing Grayson's words, Raven forced out a smile that looked worse than crying.
"Right, Tessa. I just came to set the record straight. Gray and I are just really good friends."
"Good friends? Ha! The kind of good friends who see a guy making his wife split $19.80 meals but still feel comfortable borrowing hundreds of thousands from him?"
Raven immediately teared up, looking completely pitiful.
"Tessa, you know how hard it is for me raising a kid alone. To make money, I..."
"Stop!" I cut her off mercilessly. "I'm not Grayson. I have zero interest in hearing your sob story."
Grayson immediately scowled. "Don't be so aggressive. I was the one who offered to lend her money."
I actually laughed, looking at him with cold understanding.
"Grayson, you should just agree to divorce me right now. Then nobody will ever interfere with your little drama again."
All the blood drained from Grayson's face as his expression turned completely cold. "Tessa! Stop talking crazy!"
I stared straight into his eyes: "I'm NOT talking crazy!"
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Raven trying hard to control her excitement, so I suddenly spoke up.
"Don't believe me? Ask her if she wants to marry you."
Grayson turned around, looking at her with confusion.
Raven looked embarrassed for a second, but then she lifted her chin defiantly.
"Yes, Gray. I like you. If you got divorced, I'd want to be with you."
Hearing this, Grayson's frown deepened.
I smiled coldly. "Well, guess you can't argue with that."
He looked at Raven, his voice strained: "Raven, I only think of you as a friend."
Raven went rigid, her face turning deathly pale. She couldn't believe her ears.
"You think of me as a friend? But you're so good to me, and you make her split everything fifty-fifty. Don't tell me you actually love her?"
Grayson fell silent.
Suddenly, he grabbed my wrist.
"Tessa, I don't love her!"
He was desperate to explain to me, but chose not to directly answer Raven's question.
I stared into his eyes, curiously.
"So what—do you love me?"
"Yes!"
He thought for a moment, then repeated seriously.
"I love you, Tessa."
I thought I'd be happy, but I wasn't.
All I felt was this bitter ache spreading through my entire body.
Looking at his confused expression, I spoke coldly.
"Let me tell you something—you don't love her, and you don't love me. You only love yourself."
