After that day, we parted on bad terms.
I thought Grayson and I had finally settled everything between us.
But I forgot there was still Raven, that shit-stirrer.
Same as before—after work, waiting for me downstairs.
Seeing me from a distance, Raven started shouting loudly, making sure everyone could hear.
"Oh my God, everyone come look! Tessa here is threatening to divorce her husband just because he lent money to an old classmate!"
Lent?
Classmate?
Divorce?
These keywords together left way too much room for speculation.
I watched her surrounded by the crowd, watched her smugly curl her lips as she declared war on me.
I quietly pulled out my phone and sent Grayson a video.
"I'll be right there. Stay where you are and wait for me."
This time Grayson responded quickly, replying to my message within a second—how rare.
"Tessa, I told you it was just a loan. How can you be so heartless? Or are you just that insecure—convinced your husband will definitely fall for me, so you're using divorce to force him to make me pay the money back?"
The crowd gasped!
Raven's words were loaded with implications, and my coworkers were already sharing the situation in our group chat.
Someone had even started a live stream.
I remained silent throughout, letting her spread her lies.
"Tessa! Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Gray only asked me to pay the money back because you forced him to. I don't blame him!"
I watched the man rushing through the crowd toward us, then finally spoke slowly.
"Grayson! Did I force you?"
Hearing this, Raven spun around, unable to believe Grayson had appeared here.
She immediately panicked.
"Gray, I—"
SLAP!
Before she could finish, Grayson slapped her across the face.
"You dare to hit me?"
Raven shrieked, her face full of disbelief.
"Raven! I warned you not to bother my wife again. It was my wife's generosity that allowed me to lend you all that money, and now you dare use this to slander her?"
"Let me tell you—" He coldly shook off her hand as she tried to retaliate. "If you dare show up in front of my wife one more time, I won't be so nice!"
In just a few words, Grayson had countered all of Raven's lies about me.
While everyone was busy watching the drama unfold, I smiled and quietly slipped away.
After all, the rest had nothing to do with me.
Later, a coworker sent me footage of what happened next.
Unable to accept Grayson's attitude, Raven got into a physical fight with him on the spot, and they were both taken away by police.
