Watching them go, Olivia laughed bitterly.
So he still remembered she was pregnant too.
This baby was one he had begged her to have.
He'd said he loved children and wanted her to give him one.
He called it the fruit of their love and promised to take care of her and the baby forever.
Yet in just a few months, his heart had moved elsewhere.
Throwing the garbage into the bin, Olivia gently touched her slightly swollen belly.
"Baby, will you let Mommy take you away?"
Benjamin prepared the guest room for Stella and didn't return to their bedroom until midnight.
When he came in, Olivia was still awake. She'd been having severe morning sickness, hadn't eaten dinner, but still felt nauseous and kept running to the bathroom.
Seeing her vomit, Benjamin hugged her sympathetically.
"You're so strong, Liv. Just hold on a bit longer, for me and the baby."
The smell of baby milk from Stella on his clothes made Olivia feel even more sick.
After throwing up, she lay in bed with a sore throat.
"I want some water."
Just as she spoke, Benjamin's phone rang.
"Benjamin, the baby won't stop crying. I can't sleep at all. Could you come help me?"
"Sure, I'll be right there."
He hung up and glanced at Olivia.
"Get some sleep. Stella's baby is only a month old and is fussy. I need to go help her. I won't be back tonight."
The door slammed shut, and Olivia licked her dry lips, struggling to get out of bed for water.
It didn't matter. She'd be divorcing him soon anyway. She wouldn't depend on him anymore.
Opening the door and passing the guest room, Olivia glimpsed an unforgettable scene through the crack.
On the king-sized bed, Stella lay on the left, the baby in the middle, and Benjamin on the right.
The baby was asleep, and Benjamin was chatting with Stella.
They were laughing together like a married couple.
"Benjamin, when are you going to ask Olivia for a divorce? Do you think she'll refuse?"
"She won't. Don't worry, I'll make sure you and the baby have a proper home."
Benjamin kissed her and said softly, "Go to sleep."
Her heart ached. Olivia couldn't remember the last time Benjamin had kissed her or tucked her in at night.
She didn't sleep all night and got up early to handle her immigration matters.
Halfway through her breakfast, Benjamin came downstairs.
"Liv, after you finish eating, I need to talk to you about something."
Olivia wiped her mouth. "What is it?"
"Let's get divorced."
Though she expected these words, Olivia didn't think he'd propose it so soon.
"Okay."
She calmly put her dishes in the sink. "Draft the agreement, and I'll sign it."
"Don't worry, it's just a fake divorce. Once Stella's baby gets registered, I'll remarry you. Liv, I love you and our baby."
He hugged her from behind, his hand resting on her belly.
That's where their child was growing, and he would never betray Olivia.
He just couldn't bear to see Stella raising a child alone.
Olivia nodded. "I understand. You're worried about her being alone, worried about her child. I get it. Just get me the agreement as soon as possible."
Her voice was calm, her eyes emotionless, without a trace of sadness.
Seeing her like this made Benjamin feel strange.
"Liv, you know Stella and Jake weren't married, so the baby has no legal status, which will affect her future. As soon as the registration is done, I'll divorce Stella immediately. Don't overthink this."
He tried to explain, not realizing Olivia had already lost all faith in him.
She warmed herself a cup of milk and took a small sip.
"I know."
"You're amazing, Liv."
Benjamin kissed her forehead before rushing back upstairs.
Stella was waiting for him. "How did it go? Did she agree?"
"She did! She agreed! Stella, don't worry, I'll give our baby a real home soon."
They hugged excitedly, completely unaware of Olivia standing at the bottom of the stairs with immigration papers in her hand.
She looked away and walked out the door.
Benjamin, if this is what you want, I'll give it to you.
