After cleaning up the messy house, he went upstairs at midnight.
Opening the door, he called out by habit: "Liv."
In the past, no matter how late, Olivia would wait for him to finish his work before going to bed together.
But the one who greeted him now was Stella in a provocative nightgown.
Seeing her, Benjamin's hopes crumbled again.
"Keep it down, the baby just fell asleep."
In the dim light, she wore elaborate and seductive makeup.
Her sensual curves were prominently displayed.
She clung to Benjamin, her red lips against his ear, whispering: "Honey, can we finally be together openly now?"
Benjamin remembered the first time he slept with Stella, on a rainy afternoon.
They had been soaked by the rain, and Stella had brought him to her home.
Though five months pregnant, Stella had maintained her figure and looks remarkably well.
There was even a faint, sweet scent about the pregnant woman.
Through her wet, sheer dress, he had seen her alluring curves.
Finally, yielding to her gradual teasing, he had succumbed, unable to resist.
"Before, we only did it when I was pregnant. We haven't tried it when I'm not pregnant! Don't worry, I'll definitely be better than Olivia."
As she spoke, she was already unbuttoning his shirt.
But Benjamin's mind was full of Olivia, and he had no interest.
"I'm very tired today."
He grabbed her hand, and Stella's face immediately fell.
"Benjamin, what do you mean? We're married now, but you don't even want to touch me?"
Benjamin reminded her: "Don't forget, ours is just a fake marriage."
"Don't you forget either—it may be a fake marriage, but we've done everything real married couples do. Besides Jake, you're the only man I've been with. What would your friends think if they knew how you're treating me?"
Benjamin couldn't believe Stella would say such things. He stared at her in disbelief.
"Are you threatening me?"
"Of course not!" Realizing Benjamin was upset, Stella quickly tried to pacify him. "Benjamin, don't you understand me? I love you, I've always loved you. Even if you don't love me, even if you only married me to give my child legal status, I'm willing. I just want to be your woman, even if I'm your mistress, even if you really remarry Olivia. I'm willing to accept it all."
Stella's words were so sincere, her tears flowing freely.
In the soft light, she looked pitiful and lovable.
Benjamin sighed and pulled her into his arms.
"I know. These days, I've been unfair to you."
"It's not unfair as long as I can be with you." Stella pressed her face to his chest, her voice gentle: "Benjamin, don't feel pressured about sleeping with me. You know I'm a woman—I simply want to be with you, that's all."
As she spoke, she stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips.
This time, Benjamin didn't resist.
They spent the entire night indulging in every corner of the room. Benjamin only fell asleep at dawn.
He was awakened by a call from the company—there were still many unresolved issues requiring his immediate attention.
But his body felt like it was falling apart. Stella had nearly worn him out during their night together.
When she was pregnant, she had been somewhat restrained.
Now, without the baby, her abandon was frightening.
She definitely didn't seem like someone who had only been with one man before, as she claimed.
But he had no time to think about this. A mountain of problems awaited him at the company.
Benjamin rushed to the office on an empty stomach. After the secretary briefed him on the company's situation, he angrily swept everything off his desk.
"Without Olivia, you're all useless, is that it?!"
The secretary jumped in fright. In her memory, Benjamin had never been this angry before, nor had he ever looked this haggard.
"But Mr. Monroe, Mrs. Monroe handled so many of the company's affairs. Now that she's suddenly gone, we don't know what to do."
The truth was, he didn't know what to do either. Without Olivia, he felt incapable of accomplishing anything.
So he slowly raised his head and said gravely: "Dissolve the company."
Under the secretary's shocked gaze, he arranged to meet Stella.
After registering her child, he intended to get a divorce from her.
"You're in such a hurry?" Stella held the baby, looking at Benjamin with disappointment.
She had truly underestimated Olivia's place in Benjamin's heart. She had thought that marrying Benjamin would secure her position as Mrs. Monroe, but now she understood that Benjamin couldn't be relied upon.
"If I don't divorce you, Liv won't forgive me."
Before Benjamin could say more, Stella interrupted: "I understand. If that's what you want, I'll accept it. But I didn't bring my ID today. Can we come back another time? I know you want to find Olivia—go ahead, I won't stop you."
Seeing her teary-eyed expression, Benjamin nodded. "I'm sorry for the trouble."
"It's no trouble, as long as you remember my kindness."
Stella leaned into his embrace, a flash of cruelty in her eyes.
Since Benjamin couldn't be relied on, she would need to find a new target.
