                    "What?"
A rumble of thunder sounded overhead.
Benjamin stood frozen, looking at the woman before him in disbelief.
"What did you say? Liv!"
"I said the baby is gone. On my first day here, I went to the hospital and had an abortion."
Olivia's words nearly destroyed Benjamin.
"Impossible! You're lying! That's absolutely impossible—that was our baby, Olivia! How could you abort our baby? Have you gone insane?"
He grabbed Olivia's arm, shaking her violently.
"Why? Why would you do this to me? I told you the marriage with Stella was fake—why didn't you believe me?"
His grip on her arm was painful, but Olivia looked at the man's frenzied expression with complete calm.
"Benjamin, we're over. The baby is gone. I don't want to see you ever again, so please stop disrupting my life."
After saying this, she instructed the butler to escort him out.
But Benjamin refused to leave, acting like a madman. "No, Liv, it doesn't matter if the baby is gone—we're still young, we can have more children! I love you, and you love me too. Let's get back together and start over, okay? Give me one more chance! I promise I'll never hurt you again! I swear!"
"I already told you, I don't love you anymore, and I won't be with you again."
Olivia yawned, feeling tired.
"This ends here today. Please, show him out."
With those words, Olivia left without looking back.
Watching her walk away, Benjamin knelt on the ground in despair, howling.
"No, Liv, don't leave me!"
The commotion attracted the attention of nearly everyone at the party.
Olivia's parents approached. Seeing them, Benjamin quickly called out: "Dad, Mom, it's me, Benjamin! Please help me talk to Liv—I'm preparing to divorce Stella. The one I love is Olivia! I never meant to divorce her for real! I just wanted to give Stella's child a legal status, that's all."
"Enough, Benjamin. When my daughter loved you, we were willing to accept you. But now that she doesn't love you anymore, you're nothing to us! If you don't want us to call the police, leave immediately."
Mr. Gray's words were harsh. Mrs. Gray sighed and said gravely: "Go. Our Olivia said she doesn't like you, so she won't see you again. You were our son-in-law for three years. Today is Olivia's birthday—I don't want to make this any uglier."
"This way, Mr. Monroe."
Benjamin never imagined he would end up in this situation. He realized that Olivia truly would never acknowledge him again.
"I understand."
He got up from the ground, slowly moving toward the exit.
Halfway there, he turned back, hoping for one last glimpse of Olivia.
But the hall was packed with people, and Olivia was nowhere to be seen.
Finally, he walked out of the estate into the pouring rain.
Olivia stood upstairs, watching Benjamin's retreating figure in the downpour, as she placed a hand on her belly.
"Baby, Mommy believes she can give you a wonderful life all by herself! Let's work hard together, okay?"
For the next few days, Benjamin stationed himself outside the estate's gates every day, desperate to win back Olivia's forgiveness.
He kept waiting, hoping Olivia would come out to see him just once.
When it was time for Olivia's prenatal check-up, as she prepared to leave, the butler informed her: "Miss, Mr. Monroe is still waiting at the front gate. Should we use the back entrance?"
Olivia raised her eyebrows slightly. How had she never noticed how annoying Benjamin could be?
When she loved him, his persistence seemed admirable.
Now that she didn't, even hearing his name irritated her.
"Darling, this can't go on forever!" her mother sighed, exasperated by Benjamin's stubborn presence.
"What do you mean it can't? I'll just have someone remove him!" her father said, ready to go confront him.
Olivia grabbed her father's arm. "It's okay, Dad. Just let him be."
"Whatever you say, sweetheart. I'll have the car ready at the back entrance."
Olivia left through the back door while Benjamin remained completely unaware.
When her father walked out, Benjamin immediately stood up straight with a serious expression. "Dad, has Liv forgiven me?"
"Don't call me 'Dad'—we have no relationship anymore," her father said with a meaningful cough. "Benjamin, standing guard here every day is pointless. Olivia won't come out to see you. Think about it—you haven't even divorced Stella yet. How could Olivia possibly see you?"
"Dad—I mean, sir—are you saying that if I divorce Stella, Liv will see me? She'll forgive me, right?"
Suddenly finding a purpose, Benjamin started gathering his things.
"Great, I'll go divorce Stella right away! Please tell Liv to wait for me!"
Without waiting for a response, Benjamin left.
Watching him go, her father shook his head. "Fool. No one will wait for you forever."
"Why did you mislead him like that? This doesn't solve anything. Once he divorces Stella, he'll just come back to bother Olivia again," her mother said, approaching from nearby. She had seen her husband sneaking out to talk to Benjamin.
"It's better than having him camped out here driving everyone crazy! Out of sight, out of mind!"
Her father sighed. "Didn't we buy that private island for Olivia? She's pregnant and needs peace. Let's have her stay on the island until the baby is born, while Benjamin is away."
Her mother nodded. "Good idea. By then, hopefully Benjamin will stop his obsessive behavior!"
Benjamin took the earliest flight back home. When he arrived, he searched everywhere for Stella but couldn't find her.
