Looking at the provocative messages Stella had sent to Olivia, Benjamin's mind went blank.
It turned out that shortly after he got together with Stella, she had started repeatedly sending messages to Olivia.
Photos of them kissing, in bed together—Olivia had received it all.
From initial anger to eventual indifference, to finally blocking and deleting Stella's contact.
Benjamin couldn't imagine what Olivia had gone through over the past year.
"You actually sent taunting messages to Liv!"
He glared at Stella, wishing he could tear her apart.
But Stella was unfazed by his glare. She sneered, "So what if I did? You should have expected this day would come when you did what you did. Let me tell you something, Benjamin—I'm not interested in you anymore. We'll go get our divorce papers tomorrow! I don't want to look at a loser like you for another second!"
With that, Stella grabbed her phone back and headed upstairs.
The nanny, holding the baby, cautiously asked, "Mr. Monroe, what should we do about the baby's fever?"
Benjamin collapsed powerlessly onto the sofa. He looked at the child in the nanny's arms and, after a long silence, said: "Take her to the hospital."
Even though the child wasn't his best friend's, she was still a human life.
Stella might be cold-blooded enough to not care, but he couldn't do the same—after all, he had once nearly become a father himself.
Thinking about how Olivia had aborted their child made his heart twist in agony.
Benjamin personally took the child to the hospital. Fortunately, they arrived in time, and the baby wasn't in serious condition.
He stayed with the child all night at the hospital, and early the next morning received a call from Stella.
"Benjamin, let's get the divorce papers today. Don't waste my time—I've got better men to catch!"
Benjamin couldn't believe there could be such a terrible woman in this world. Her own child had a fever and hadn't come home all night, yet she didn't even ask about it.
He thought of Olivia, who would go out of her way to exchange bills for change to give to beggars on the street.
Who would specifically go to the supermarket to buy cat food and treats when she saw a stray kitten, waiting until the cat had eaten its fill before leaving.
Who would even take an injured bird to the nearest pet shop for treatment.
In comparison, Stella was simply too cold-blooded, too frightening.
"Your daughter is in the hospital, and you don't even ask one question? Stella, you're the child's mother!"
"So what? As long as she's not dead, what's the problem? Hurry up and come to the marriage bureau. I want to divorce you—Mr. Thomas is waiting to marry me!"
Completely disappointed in her, Benjamin left the child with the nanny and went to get divorced from Stella.
After getting the divorce certificate, Stella left without looking back, getting into Mr. Thomas's car.
Watching the car speed away, Benjamin sighed deeply.
Everything he'd experienced lately had left him emotionally exhausted. Now he just hoped to fly to England as soon as possible to beg for Olivia's forgiveness.
After settling everything, he bought a plane ticket to find Olivia.
But when he arrived, the butler told him, "Miss Gray isn't here anymore."
"Where did she go? When will she be back?"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Monroe, but I don't know. Miss Gray said she doesn't want to see you anymore. You should leave."
"No, I've divorced Stella now! I came back to beg for her forgiveness. Please, I need to see her—she'll forgive me, I know she will!"
While he was pleading desperately, he spotted Olivia's parents coming out in their car.
Determined to see Olivia, he rushed forward and blocked the car's path.
"Are you insane?!"
The driver nearly hit him, braking just in time.
Mr. Gray hadn't expected Benjamin to actually return and was completely exasperated.
"What do you think you're doing? If you want to kill yourself, don't drag us into it!"
"Dad—I mean, sir—I've divorced Stella. Please let me see Liv. I miss her so much."
In just one month, Benjamin had transformed from a handsome young man to someone with an unkempt beard and a dejected appearance.
He fell to his knees, begging the elderly couple to let him see Olivia.
But Mr. Gray coldly replied, "My daughter isn't here anymore. You won't be seeing her ever again."
With that, he instructed the driver to leave.
Benjamin watched the car disappear in despair, remaining on his knees without moving.
He stayed there until nightfall, showing no intention of leaving.
Seeing this, the butler began to feel sorry for him.
"Mr. Monroe, why put yourself through this? Our master wasn't lying—Miss Gray really isn't here anymore. She went to..."
The butler hesitated.
Benjamin, as if grabbing onto a lifeline, pressed urgently: "Where did she go? Please tell me. Here's a check for $500,000. If you tell me where your young miss is, I can give you another $500,000!"
He shoved the check into the butler's hand.
With a sigh, the butler ultimately didn't accept it.
"I don't want your money. I just feel sorry for you. Mr. Monroe, let me tell you something else—our young miss is still pregnant. She didn't have an abortion."
