Benjamin broke down, screaming at the turbulent sea: "NO, LIV!!!"
"Hahaha! Benjamin, I hate you! I want you to be like me—to lose everything and everyone!"
Stella laughed maniacally. The next second, she prepared to throw the baby into the sea.
Benjamin suddenly rushed forward and caught the baby in mid-air.
Stella tried to grab the baby back, but the security personnel from the villa finally arrived.
"Arrest her and hand her over to the police!"
Benjamin held his son tightly. Once he saw Stella being apprehended, he handed the baby to the arriving housekeepers.
"Take good care of him. Tell him that both his mom and dad love him very much."
After saying this, he dove into the azure sea.
He searched for a long time before finally finding Olivia sinking deeper into the ocean.
It took all his strength to bring her to the surface.
The rescue team took Olivia from his hands, but just as they were about to save him too, a massive wave crashed over them, and Benjamin disappeared instantly.
The rescue team had no choice but to bring Olivia back to shore first.
When Olivia regained consciousness, she was back in her room with her baby lying beside her.
Everything felt like a dream, as if nothing had happened.
Olivia felt disoriented, unsure whether what had just occurred was a dream or reality.
A servant brought in a bowl of porridge and said cautiously, "Miss Gray, you're awake?"
Olivia blinked. "What happened? Wasn't I in the sea? How did I get here?"
"Miss Gray, you've been sleeping in your room all this time. You had a fever and have been asleep for several days."
The servant picked up the baby, preparing to feed him.
Olivia looked confused. "Really?"
"Yes, Miss Gray. You haven't eaten for days. Please have some porridge."
Olivia picked up the bowl in front of her and asked absently, "What's our chef's name?"
"Nick Water. Do you know him?"
"Nick?"
"Yes, is something wrong?"
Olivia shook her head without saying more.
She took a sip of the porridge, but it tasted different from before.
She looked out the window with a strange expression.
"I want to see this chef."
"Of course. I'll have him come right away."
Soon the servant brought in the chef, but the face that appeared was completely unfamiliar to her.
She rubbed her temples, wondering if everything these past days had truly been just a dream.
Had Benjamin never appeared? Had Stella never appeared? Had she never jumped into the sea?
Her thoughts became jumbled, and she started feeling tired.
"Please pack my things. I want to go home."
"Yes, Miss Gray. I'll give the orders right away."
Before leaving, Olivia looked around once more, making sure there was no sign of Benjamin before departing.
After she left, two servants cleaning the villa sighed.
"What a shame, dying so young."
"Yes, the young miss doesn't know. If she knew, she'd be devastated."
"It's better she doesn't know. After all, he died saving her."
"Is the boat ready? Let's get his body off the island. Be careful handling it, then send people to transport his body back home. Whatever you do, don't let Miss Gray find out."
After covering the pale-faced man on the ground with a white cloth, several people carried his body away.
After returning to the estate, Olivia remained restless.
For some reason, she kept thinking about Benjamin.
"Mom, did Benjamin really never come to the island?"
Olivia kept asking, and Mrs. Gray could only patiently comfort her: "He really didn't. It was all just a dream. You're exhausted—get some rest."
After soothing Olivia, Mrs. Gray left the room.
Mr. Gray was standing in the doorway, taking a drag from his cigarette. "How is she?"
"She's asleep." Mrs. Gray sighed. "What about Benjamin's body?"
"It's been sent back and cremated."
"Good." Mrs. Gray nodded. "Give him a proper funeral. After all, he died for our Liv."
"Mmm."
"By the way, what about Stella?"
"She's been sentenced to several years in prison."
"Good."
Mrs. Gray looked at the closed door and whispered, "I hope our daughter can forget all this soon and believe it was really just a dream!"
What they didn't know was that Olivia hadn't fallen asleep at all.
She heard everything they said, crystal clear.
Covering her mouth with her hands to suppress her sobs, tears spilled down her face.
Olivia couldn't believe Benjamin was dead.
Though she no longer loved him, after seven years together, she couldn't let go completely.
As time passed, her son grew day by day.
Olivia still occasionally had nightmares and dreamed of Benjamin.
On the beach, three-year-old Theodore threw himself into his mother's arms and asked in his childish voice, "Mommy, why do other kids have daddies, but I don't?"
Olivia stroked his little head and said softly, "You do have a daddy, sweetheart. But daddy passed away saving mommy. He's watching over you from heaven."
"Where's heaven? What does 'passed away' mean?"
Seeing her child's innocent confusion, Olivia sighed. "You'll understand when you're older."
"Then I want to be like daddy and protect mommy forever."
"My sweet boy."
Olivia picked up her child and looked out at the azure sea.
For three consecutive years, she had come to the island to view the sea on the anniversary of Benjamin's death. Though she no longer loved him, she remained grateful that he had saved her life.
"Benjamin, it's been three years. Are you doing okay up there?"
