Proposal day.
I was resting in the prep room when the door flew open.
Bit surprising—this character showed up early.
Kieran stared at me in disbelief.
"You're the one Liam's proposing to?"
"His assistant's joking, right?"
I laughed softly. "You can see for yourself."
"This room's reserved for the future Mrs. Cross."
Kieran's face went ugly.
"How dare you?"
"After all our years together, you've known him what—a few months?"
"Kieran, people who end up married together—it's not about time."
Kieran grabbed my wrist.
"You want a loveless marriage?"
"I know why he's marrying you, but he could never love you."
"And you could never love him. You're just trying to get back at me, right?"
I looked at him coldly.
"Kieran, what makes you so confident?"
"Who gave you that kind of nerve?"
I shook off his grip.
Kieran's face went ashen.
"When you said you were getting married next month—you didn't mean us. You meant you and Liam?"
I smiled. "Right. Since that group chat, nothing I said had anything to do with you."
Kieran looked stunned, eyes reddening.
"You really broke up with me?"
"Why?"
"Wasn't I good to you?"
A deep voice cut through the tension.
Liam in a sharp suit, leaning against the doorframe.
"Because you have no boundaries."
"You don't treasure her or care about her feelings."
He walked past Kieran and took my hand.
Turned back to Kieran with a smile.
"Thanks for running out on the wedding."
"And thanks for designing this proposal setup yourself. I love it."
Kieran watched us with dark eyes.
As we left the prep room, I heard a table crash behind us.
However angry Kieran was, it didn't matter anymore.
What mattered was the sea of flowers and the gorgeous man kneeling before me.
"Will you marry me?"
I bent down to whisper in his ear.
"Remember when you asked if I liked you?"
"Even though you set this whole thing up."
"I willingly walked into your trap."
"Liam, I like you."
Liam looked up at me with tears in his eyes.
"Stop kneeling like an idiot and put the ring on me."
"Yes, my Princess Savannah."
After the proposal ceremony.
I was about to get in the car when Kieran came running over.
"Savannah, can you give me one chance?"
"Bella—Isabelle's getting shipped overseas tomorrow. She'll never coming back."
Kieran's assistant was dragging a red-eyed Isabelle away.
She screamed at Kieran: "You can't treat me like this! What would my mother think?"
Kieran ignored her completely, looking at me desperately. "Savannah, will you come back?"
Liam calmly pulled out our marriage certificate.
"Too late. Should've thought of that earlier."
"We're married."
This sneaky bastard carried our marriage certificate around?
I smiled. "Kieran, we were supposed to get that certificate."
"Too bad Isabelle fainted that day and you had to take care of her first. Missed our chance."
Kieran's lips twitched, eyes bloodshot.
He couldn't say a word.
That was the last time I saw him.
Until Liam and I got back from our honeymoon.
Kieran's assistant called me.
"Ma'am, Mr. O'Connor's in the hospital. Alcohol poisoning, internal bleeding."
"He's asking for your homemade chicken soup."
I stayed quiet.
The assistant sighed. "I know you probably can't cook it, and it's not appropriate, but could you visit him? Just once?"
"Not appropriate. I'm married—I have boundaries. If he wants soup, have Mrs.Wilson make it."
I hung up.
If my clingy husband heard that, he'd be jealous.
He'd punish me later for sure.
I rubbed my sore lower back nervously
But he'd already heard.
"I won't let Mrs. Wilson cook for him."
I laughed. "She's Kieran's housekeeper. Since when does she take orders from you?"
Suddenly Mrs. Wilson came out of the kitchen, beaming.
"Savannah, you're back! Dinner's ready."
I stared in shock.
Liam's lips curved up.
"I hired Mrs. Wilson to work for us. Like it?"
I jumped into his arms.
"Love it! Love it so much, hubby."
His eyes sparkled like stars. "Say it again. Keep saying it."
"I'll say it forever and drive you crazy."
"Perfect!"
