Felix carefully hung the last of the Christmas decorations, but his movements were slow, distracted. His mind kept drifting back to that day, to the emptiness that still haunted him. He turned to Changbin, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Do you remember it, Binnie?" he asked, his words heavy with unspoken emotion.
Changbin nodded, his own eyes filled with unshed tears. "Don't say it, please..." he pleaded, his voice cracking as the pain resurfaced.
But Felix couldn't hold it in. He looked at his husband, his bottom lip trembling as he whispered, "I remember how Jisung was never the same..." The words hung in the air, and the weight of them broke him. Felix's tears flowed freely, his heart aching with the memory of his best friend's pain.
Changbin pulled him close, his arms strong and comforting as he held Felix tight. "I know," he whispered, his own voice thick with sorrow. "Minho was his world..."
And in that moment, both of them silently mourned the love they had lost, the joy that had been stolen from their lives.
Felix stood in the doorway, the familiar weight of the apartment pressing down on him. It had been a week since Minho's passing, and nothing had changed in Jisung. He hadn't eaten, hadn't moved, hadn't spoken a word. The silence between them felt suffocating, and Felix could hardly bear it.
"Hi, baby," Felix said softly, stepping further into the room. His voice cracked with a mixture of concern and desperation. "I brought you some food. Eat, please..." His voice trembled, as if each word he spoke made the emptiness in the room grow louder.
Jisung didn't respond. He sat motionless on the couch, his eyes vacant, staring into the nothingness that surrounded him. His shoulders were hunched, his body a shell of the person he used to be.
Felix's heart broke at the sight. "Sungie, please..." he whispered, his voice full of pain. "Please talk to me."
But Jisung remained silent, the only sound in the room the soft, steady beat of Felix's own heart, aching for the friend who had once been so full of life and laughter.
Felix crouched in front of him, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. "I know you're hurting," he murmured, reaching out to gently hold Jisung's hands. "But you have to come back to us. You have to come back, for me... for Minho."
Jisung's body didn't move, his gaze still lost. Felix's heart shattered a little more, but he wouldn't give up. Not on Jisung. Not when Minho would want him to fight, even if just a little.
"Please, baby..." Felix whispered once more, trying to reach the person Jisung used to be, the person who still had so much love to give.
Jisung didn't respond. He didn't look at Felix. He didn't move.
Felix's voice cracked as he whispered, "He loved you, Sungie... he loved you so much." He watched as Jisung bit down on his lip, the pain evident in his eyes.
"I want to die," Jisung finally spoke, his voice hollow and broken, and with those words, Felix felt his world crumble.
"Hey, don't say that..." Felix whispered, his heart aching with each syllable, but Jisung didn't hear him. Without a word, he pushed Felix aside and stood.
With a broken sigh, Jisung walked to the bedroom he once shared with Minho- a room that had been filled with love, now only empty echoes of the past.
Felix sighed deeply, his heart heavy with worry as he fed their cats, trying to push away the knot forming in his chest. He glanced at the empty apartment, the silence deafening. He didn't know what to do. Jisung was lost in his grief, and there was nothing Felix could say or do to bring Minho back.
With a final look at the apartment door, he left the building, feeling like the weight of the world was pressing down on him. He didn't have the answers, but he couldn't just leave things like this. He had to help Jisung, even if he didn't know how.
