As the echoes of the 's whisper faded from Avera’s ears, a soft shuffling sound echoed through the chamber.
From the shadowed corner of the stone cavern, a figure emerged—cloaked in deep violet, her white hair flowing like mist, eyes glowing faintly with the same pulse as the itself.
Her voice was weathered, but strong.
“I’ve been waiting for you… Avera, Daughter of Light.”
Marah immediately turned and dropped to one knee, head bowed low. “High Watcher Aelira.”
Dalen instinctively stepped in front of Avera, but she placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, her eyes locked with the old woman’s.
Aelira stepped forward, gaze piercing yet kind.
“You carry the light of your mother,” she said. “And the fire of your father. Both were bound to fate they did not choose—but you, child… you must choose what becomes of the legacy they left.”
“My mother?” Liana whispered. “What do you mean?”
Aelira nodded. “Your mother, Serenya, was a Blood—descendants of the original keepers of the . Her powers were never awakened, for the world she lived in had no space for such magic. But the stone never forgot her. And when you were born… the light stirred once more.”
Avera swallowed hard, tears forming. “I never knew her.”
“You knew of her,” Aelira said. “Because the stone has always been with you. Dormant. Silent. Waiting. You are not just her daughter. You are the next Bearer of the Flame—the only one who can awaken the full might of the .”
Aelira then turned to Calen, eyes sharp with something deeper—something ancient.
“And you, Dalen… Soldier of the fallen code… are more than a shadow of war. You are her shield.”
Dalen frowned. “I don’t understand.”
“You don’t need to—yet. But your soul has already chosen.
When you became curious… when you shielded her in the forest… when you bled for her at the gates of this village… your path was bound to hers. You are the Guardian, whether you remember or not.”
Dalen looked at Avera. She looked back.
Neither spoke.
But something passed between them—wordless and unshakable.
Aelira stepped back and raised her staff. The pulsed brighter, humming in response to Avera’s presence.
“Soon, the enemy will come,” Aelira said. “They will not stop until the stone is theirs. But if you awaken what sleeps within you… they will not survive what they unleash.”
The cavern trembled faintly. Distant thunder echoed from beyond the mountain.
War was stirring.
And destiny had spoken.
