Smoke curled from the forge chimneys as Dalen and his team returned to the village with heavy packs and determined faces. The air was thick with anticipation—word had already begun to spread of Avera’s mission, and now all eyes turned to the weaponsmith’s hut where Dalen set up camp.
Inside the main workshop, Anor, the village blacksmith—a thick-armed woman with soot-stained cheeks—stared in awe as Dalen unpacked pieces of jet-engine metal, power cells, and sealed ammunition boxes.
“I’ve worked steel since I was ten,” Anor said, lifting a curved alloy blade from the wreckage. “But I’ve never touched anything like this.”
Dalen smiled. “Then let’s make history.”
Together with Anor, and two of her apprentices, Dalen began to fuse old world knowledge with new-age tech. Using fragments of the jet’s fuselage, they reforged lightweight swords lined with energy conduits—able to withstand more force than steel alone. Old arrowheads were replaced with sharper, harder tips made from aircraft metal.
From the drone pods, Dalen extracted the targeting cores, installing them into motion-triggered traps that could be deployed in the forest around the village.
By nightfall, sparks lit the air as hammer met steel.
Warriors lined up to be fitted with improved gear—shields reinforced with titanium slats, and spears fitted with micro-electric charges. It wasn’t much compared to what the enemy had, but it was enough to even the ground.
The people watched Dalen work, whispers spreading fast:
> “He’s not just a soldier… he’s a builder.”
“The fallen star now rises for us.”
“Perhaps we do have a chance.”
Later that night, Dalen sat at the edge of the forge, sweat on his brow, watching the flame dance.
He held a small blade he’d shaped himself—a mix of steel and jet metal, engraved with a single symbol: Hope.
Behind him, Anor spoke quietly. “What you’ve brought us… might change everything.”
Dalen nodded. “Let’s make sure it does.” looking up to the stars in the dark sky.
