The village was quiet under the early morning mist. Birds sang softly, but beneath the calm air, something ancient stirred.
In the heart of the mountain cave where the was kept, Avera stood before the glowing crystal, its pale blue light pulsing gently like a heartbeat. Around her, the walls shimmered with carvings of her ancestors — warriors, healers, and guardians of the bloodline.
Aelira, watcher of the , watched silently.
“Your power is not just in blood,” Aelira said. “It is in your heart, your will. You must open yourself. The stone will answer only when you are ready.”
Avera closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She reached out her hand toward the crystal. A soft warmth spread through her fingertips, but the light didn’t rise.
“Feel the stone,” Aelira whispered. “Feel its pain… its hope.”
Avera’s mind drifted to the village, to the faces of her people—their fears, their hopes. She thought of her father, Mark Breknac, and the sacrifice he made. A tear slipped down her cheek.
Suddenly, the flared, bathing the cave in blinding blue light.
Avera gasped as energy surged through her veins—light and power rushing through her like a river breaking free.
Her body trembled but she stood firm.
Aelira smiled gently. “You are the Daughter of Light. Your power will protect us all, but control it—do not let it consume you.”
Avera opened her eyes, now glowing faintly with the same blue light as the . Power pulsed within her, ancient and alive.
“The war is coming,” said Aelira, her voice as soft as mist, yet heavy with meaning. “The time has come for me to leave you.”
Avera turned to her, eyes wide. “Why leave now?”
Aelira gave a gentle, knowing smile. “My work here is done. I have waited so long for this day to come—longer than you can imagine.”
She reached out, brushing a strand of hair from Avera’s face. “A new watcher will be chosen. And she will carry the light forward.”
Wind stirred the trees outside as the first light of dawn spilled across the mountain.
“You were never alone,” Aelira whispered. “And you never will be.”
She stepped into the shadows of the chamber, fading like mist at sunrise.
Avera stood still, feeling the weight of destiny settle on her shoulders—no longer afraid.
Outside, the sun rose fully, shining down on a village prepared for battle, and a warrior reborn.
