MYRA
"I'm such a terrible mate!" I had this urge to wail like an idiot all of a sudden. I wanted to have a sincere talk with them, but for some reason, my emotions were fucking hard with me, especially over the past few days.
I wondered if this was just the aftermath of heat or something else. I wondered if it was... No. This can't be that. Not every heat resulted in that, and my wolf would have told me right away if it was really that.
"No, you're not," Hunter snapped, wrapping his arm around me.
"You're the best thing that happened to us," Mateo said, moving closer to me and touching my arm. Something fluttered in my stomach.
"You two are saying that to ease me, but that's not how it is. I troubled you two so much-"
"It was all worth it," Mateo cut me. "At the end of the day, we're glad you're here with us. This is what we wanted, and we finally have it,"
"Yes, this is all that matters to us now. What has happened has happened. I'm looking forward to moving ahead and starting fresh," Hunter added.
"You two are really optimistic about someone who hasn't done anything for you-"
"It doesn't matter, and Myra, you were sick for half the time, and the rest of the time, we were busy finding our sister," Hunter said.
"Yes, it was a hectic and messy time, and expecting anything from you would have been unrealistic. You're still not completely healed yet. You need a lot of rest, Myra," Mateo said.
"I feel like I'm not doing enough for you two,"
"What does enough mean for you?" Hunter asked.
"I... I don't know. Take on some pack responsibilities, maybe or help and care for you two," I suggested, sniffing. My emotions were really fucking with me hard.
"Your presence is more than enough for us, baby girl," Mateo said huskily, kissing my cheek, "It makes our day just to see you, hold you, love you and take care of you. Can't you see?"
"I feel like I don't deserve this," I answered, "I want to prove that I deserve this kind of-"
"You don't have to prove anything to anybody," Hunter said. "You're enough to us as you are,"
If anything, his words made me cry more like an idiot.
"He's right. You're enough as you are, baby girl," Mateo added, kissing my cheek.
"You're our naughty little mate with exceptional skills, and we wouldn't change anything about that. We love it," Hunter said, making me want to wail like a child.
"I promise I will try to be better for you two," I told them, sniffing. "I promise to honour you two by being the best Luna,"
"The only thing we want from you, baby girl, is to rest and recover fast. You've had it rough. It's okay. You don't have to get to work right now,"
"Not that we'll allow you to work in this state," Hunter said. "Our pack has been without a Luna for years. They can wait another year for you to recover completely and feel better,"
"I really don't deserve this," I whispered, holding back my tears.
"You absolutely do," Mateo said.
"I'm not used to this," I said. "I'm used to earning my keep, being competent and looking out only for myself. I'm used to being... selfish," I sighed deeply. "Did I ever tell you two about asking the moon goddess for a mate?"
"Doesn't everyone pray to the moon goddess for a mate?" Hunter shrugged, not understanding what it meant.
"I remember you mentioned this in passing, but yeah, we prayed for a mate too," Mateo added, and this time, I chuckled.
"I don't mean praying to the moon goddess for a mate," I said, trying not to think about our last agreement.
"Then?" Mateo asked.
"I..." I trailed off, wondering if I should tell them about it. If I did, then I might have to disclose to them what happened at the port, and I wasn't ready for that yet. I didn't want to remember Mateo's dead face and the emptiness of losing Hunter, too. It sent a shudder down my spine.
"I summoned the moon goddess," I replied quietly, "And I asked for a lot, many things and well... I was shocked when I saw Mateo and did things I shouldn't have done,"
"It's okay, baby girl. You had your reasons," Mateo assured.
"He's right, but how did you summon the goodness?" Hunter asked.
"Well, I bought a spell from the Weddard witches," I replied. "Either way, I asked for a mate and fucked up badly,"
"Is this somehow related to our missing memories?" Hunter asked, and I tensed. The brothers exchanged looks, and I decided not to answer the question.
"Whatever might've happened, we trust you, Myra, and we're glad you summoned the goddess and asked for a mate. It led us to you," Mateo said, and the urge to cry returned. Something fluttered in my stomach, and my throat tightened.
"If I could go back in time, I'd have stayed with you that night," I told Mateo. "And I'd have met Hunter too. It would have been so good,"
"You wanna play that out?" Hunter suggested, amused, and Mateo chuckled.
"Does that mean I get to flirt with Fidel, too?" I laughed, tears still streaming down my face. I was expecting them to frown and scoff, but both laughed.
"You want to play, baby girl? We can play," Mateo offered darkly, making me laugh.
"All you have to do is ask," Hunter joined, and suddenly, I was sandwiched between the two. My back was pressed against Mateo's while my front was pressed against Hunter's. Feeling so close to my mates made my wolf stir. Their marks on my body sizzled with pleasure, making me want to climb them like a tree.
"Then I'm asking you two to allow me to return every favour that you've done to me. I am asking you two to let me prove to you two that I'm worthy of being your mates. I'm asking you two to let me serve you with whatever I have," I told them sincerely, and Mateo growled behind me.
"We don't want anything from you, Myra," He said. "We want you,"
"We want your love. That's all," Hunter said.
"Then I promise to love you two with an unwavering dedication," I swore. "I promise to give back everything I had taken. I promise to honour and protect you two with everything I have. I promise to be the best mate I can be," I finally got it off my chest. "I love you two,"
"I've already promised you that we'll take care of you no matter what, and that still stands," Mateo whispered. "I love you, Myra," My heart quivered at his words.
"I love you too, my pussy cat," Hunter smiled and pecked my lips. "And I'll ask Fidel what kind of casket he likes," Hunter added, and we roared with laughter.
