When the phone rang, Vincent had me pinned beneath him on the bed.
Hearing the ringtone, he paid no attention and held me tighter, kissing me more forcefully while letting the phone ring.
Eventually, the ringing stopped, only to stubbornly resume seconds later.
Vincent reluctantly released me.
My legs felt like jelly from his kisses as I struggled to answer the phone.
"What do you need?" I tried to steady my breathing.
"Miss Hayes," the butler's voice was typically condescending, "I must say, you're quite skilled. Playing hard-to-get has worked beautifully."
I frowned. "What exactly do you want? If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up."
The butler's tone turned smug. "You've been playing disappearing games for this moment, haven't you? I don't believe you'd dare hang up..."
I immediately ended the call.
The butler called right back.
I answered: "Are you ready to speak properly now?"
"Y-yes, Miss Hayes." The butler's voice sounded flustered, his humility barely concealing his resentment.
"Mr. Blake says he's giving you one last chance to service him tonight. Otherwise, he's really going through with the engagement to Lily."
I quickly glanced at Vincent's expression. Seeing him completely unperturbed, I secretly sighed with relief.
"Jonah and I no longer have any relationship. This joke is extremely tasteless."
The butler's voice grew urgent. "I'm not joking! This is exactly what Mr. Blake said!"
"Is that so..." I deliberately dragged out my response, my voice playful.
"Then please inform him that I'm now the one being serviced. Tell him to stop disturbing me."
After hanging up, I nervously looked at Vincent.
I'd said something rather provocative in response to Jonah's insulting message, and I wasn't sure how Vincent would react.
"Madison," Vincent looked down at me, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "Did you know you were my first kiss?"
"Three years ago. At the party."
I froze in surprise.
