Jonah's steps faltered, a smug smile tugging at his lips.
He knew Madison wouldn't be able to stay away.
Adjusting his expression to appear annoyed, he turned around slowly.
"Madison, when will you ever..."
Jonah's words died in his throat. Standing before him with a mischievous smile wasn't Madison, but Amber.
"Amber? What are you doing here?"
Amber waved the invitation in her hand. "The Morgan family was invited. Why shouldn't I be here?"
"By the way, weren't you just calling Madison's name? Interesting that Mr. Blake is thinking about his ex-girlfriend at his own engagement party."
Lily bit her lip, looking hurt as she glanced at Jonah.
But Jonah had no time to worry about her feelings.
"Where's Madison? If you're here, why isn't she?"
"Why should she be here?" Amber countered.
Jonah suddenly displayed a mocking smile. "I get it... Madison couldn't face me herself, so she sent her best friend to ruin my engagement party, right? How hypocritical!"
Amber rolled her eyes. "Jonah, are you a narcissist? Who would bother with such childish games? If Grandfather hadn't insisted I attend, I wouldn't have come to watch this pathetic show!"
With that, Amber walked directly to her seat.
Jonah gritted his teeth in anger but couldn't do anything about it.
"Let's start the ceremony," Jonah said, putting his arm around Lily as they walked to the stage.
He couldn't believe Amber would remain calm throughout the ceremony!
The host of ceremonies began the proceedings, but Jonah remained distracted, making several mistakes that left Lily uncomfortable.
Jonah occasionally glanced at Amber's seat, anticipating when she might cause trouble, but she simply sat drinking tea and watching quietly.
Next came the ring exchange, with the groom going first.
Jonah, irritated, took the ring and roughly pushed it onto Lily's finger.
When he looked up at Lily's face, he suddenly froze: "Where did you get that pink diamond necklace?"
