Lily, absorbed in the joy of being the center of attention, was startled by the sudden question.
Seeing Jonah staring fixedly at her neck, she felt uncomfortable.
Lily picked up the ring, raised Jonah's hand, and whispered, "Jonah, can we talk about this after we leave the stage? Everyone is watching—let's finish the ceremony first..."
"I asked where you got that necklace!"
Jonah knocked Lily's hand away and gripped her wrist tightly, raising his voice.
The guests were shocked, and the hall fell completely silent.
Seeing everyone's inquiring looks, Lily felt humiliated. "Jonah, please let go, you're hurting me..."
Jonah remained unmoved, his cold eyes boring into her.
Lily's gaze wavered. "This... this necklace was given to me by the butler. I thought it was pretty, so I wore it."
From below the stage came the butler's wail: "Miss Pierce, you can't be so dishonest! You said the necklace was expensive and suggested we sell it and split the money. How did that become me giving it to you?"
Lily's face flushed red. "Don't make up lies!"
Jonah's face turned ashen.
This pink diamond necklace was one he had personally designed and custom-made for Madison.
Because of its sentimental value, Madison had treasured it, keeping it in her drawer and wearing it only on special occasions.
Madison had once said she would wear this necklace when she married him.
Yet now, she had discarded it so easily.
Jonah felt an inexplicable rage building inside him. Seeing the necklace hanging around Lily's neck became increasingly intolerable.
He yanked off the necklace, the sharp chain instantly leaving red marks across Lily's neck.
"You don't deserve to wear this necklace!"
Ignoring Lily's tearful pleas, Jonah halted the ceremony.
He walked straight down from the stage and into the crowd of guests, but couldn't find the person he was looking for.
"Where's Amber?"
"Miss Morgan just left."
Jonah abandoned the entire hall of guests and rushed out without a second thought.
"Amber, stop right there!"
Amber, who had reached the main entrance, turned back impatiently: "What? I've seen enough of this show and want to go home for a nap. Is that not allowed?"
