It was Vincent coming to save me!
Taking advantage of the man's momentary pause, I struggled free from beneath him and looked up to see who had arrived.
It was Jonah.
His eyes were blazing with fury as he pulled the man off the sofa and punched him in the face.
Lily pretended to be surprised.
"Oh my! Madison, what are you doing in here? You're a married woman—how could you be so shameless!"
I looked coldly at Lily. She was clearly trying to distance herself while tarnishing my image in front of Jonah.
Before I could speak, the man on the floor suddenly shouted:
"Songbird, didn't you say no one would disturb us here? What's going on? Give me back my money!"
Jonah froze: "Who's Songbird?"
The man angrily pointed at Lily: "Her, of course! The top hostess at Ocean View Nightclub! I believed your lies and thought I'd really get to play with a respectable married woman today. That's why I gave you so much money!"
Jonah whirled around, fixing Lily with a chilling stare: "Is what he's saying true?"
Lily panicked, her words jumbling together: "No, Jonah, I don't know what he's talking about! I'm not Songbird!"
Jonah no longer believed her. He slowly approached Lily, his face dark as coal.
"So all that innocent goodness you showed me was just an act?"
"You said Madison called you to the bar, but actually, you called her there, didn't you?"
"And now you've conspired with a client to assault Madison. Lily, how can you be so venomous?"
Jonah suddenly grabbed Lily by the throat, pinning her against the wall, gradually increasing the pressure.
"Lily, are you making a fool of me?"
His eyes grew increasingly savage, a murderous aura filling the air.
"Go to hell!"
Lily struggled to breathe as he choked her. Her face turned red as she desperately hit his arms, trying to make him let go.
But Jonah didn't budge. He just stared at her with bloodshot eyes, as if he wanted to devour her alive.
Mr. Wilson suddenly sprang up from the corner. He grabbed the ashtray that had fallen to the floor and smashed it against Jonah's head.
"You little punk, you dare hit me? Die!"
The sound of glass striking bone echoed through the room. Jonah let out a groan, released Lily, and collapsed limply to the floor.
