Even though Dorian's face wasn't shown, Amaris instantly recognized those hands holding the gift box. They were unmistakably his.
Those hands had held Amaris's hands so many times. Of course, she recognized them very well.
And she had been the one who accompanied him to pick out that Patek Philippe watch on his left wrist.
There were only ten of those in the entire world, and in all of Eldraeth City, Dorian was the only one who owned one.
There was no way she could ever mistake it.
The moment Amaris saw Irene take the black Birkin out of the box, her pupils trembled and her eyes widened in disbelief. Her very soul felt as if it had been shattered by a heavy blow.
"That bag..."
Amaris instantly recognized the custom-made Hermès Birkin in Irene's hand.
There was no way Irene's family would splurge 300 thousand dollars on a custom bag.
She believed that the bag must have come from Dorian.
A bag like this took at least six months to custom order.
Amaris suddenly remembered. Last summer, Dorian had asked her what she wanted for her birthday. She'd told him she wanted a diamond-studded Hermès Birkin bag.
Dorian had just smiled, tapped her nose playfully, and promised, "Any wish you have, I'll make it come true."
Dorian had always been a man who kept his word.
Realizing Dorian had given the bag meant for her to Irene, Amaris's face contorted with rage.
She couldn't accept it.
She couldn't just sit back and do nothing anymore.
If Dorian kept spending time with Irene, he'd eventually fall for her. She must return to Eldraeth City right now.
Mike's condition had stabilized and was no longer life-threatening, but his right hand developed hemiplegia, leaving him unable to feed himself.
Mike burned with fury, wishing he could tear Jeremy limb from limb just to vent his anger.
Yet in front of his children, Mike masked his emotions perfectly.
He said to Irene, "Ms. Jackson, my apologies for the embarrassing scene the other day. Once I'm discharged from the hospital, I'll personally host a dinner banquet for you and your family."
"Also, your marriage with Dorian should be put on the agenda. When both families are gathered, we can discuss this matter properly."
Hearing this, Dorian' face lit up with a hint of delight, while Irene gave a gentle smile. "I'm fine with whatever you decide, Mr. Barnes. I'll follow your arrangements."
Mike smiled. "'Mr. Barnes' sounds too distant. Just call me Mike."
"Ok, Mike," Irene replied graciously.
Mike, feigning weariness, said to Irene, "Lily, it's time for lunch. Why don't you take Irene out to eat?" Then he turned to Dorian. "You stay. We need to talk."
Realizing that Mike wanted to speak with Dorian alone, Lily still took Irene out for lunch, though clearly displeased.
The moment they stepped out of the hospital room, Lily's face darkened.
Noticing the medicated patch on Lily's wrist, Irene feigned a look of guilt and said with false sincerity, "Oh, I'm so sorry, Lily. I didn't mean for your wrist to get hurt."
"You bitch!" Lily shot Irene a vicious glare and warned, "Don't think just because my dad said those things, he's given his blessing to your marriage."
"You'd better keep your schemes hidden. If my father catches you, your gold-digging dreams will be shattered."
Irene simply smiled faintly, remaining silent.
Her serene composure only made Lily look all the more like a clown.
Lily stifled her anger, shooting a resentful glance at the Birkin on Irene's arm, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Don't think you're anything special just because my brother gave you a branded bag. When he was with his first love, he was even more extravagant than this."
She snorted. "And how did that end? It still came to nothing."
"Who was his first love?" Irene asked, putting on a slightly pained and uneasy expression.
Lily smirked knowingly, putting on an air of mystery as she said, "That's all in the past now. You don't need to know about it, Ms. Jackson."
"Well, you know what they say that first loves are pure and unforgettable. If she comes back to Eldraeth City and starts chasing after Dorian, who knows if he'll be able to resist?"
Irene remained silent, her lips curving into a faint, knowing smile.
She sneered, 'Come back soon. The sooner you're back, the sooner I can wipe them both out at once.'
