She glanced down at her own chest and sighed. "Too big isn't great either. Always jiggling around... honestly, it's exhausting."
'Is that really something people just say out loud?' Irene thought.
Apparently, Kelly had no shame whatsoever. In fact, she added with a straight face, "Miss Jackson, if you can help me find out Austin's dating preferences, I'll represent you pro bono."
Irene stared at her, wide-eyed. "You and Austin…?"
"I like him," Kelly said bluntly. "I heard he's into women with a generous bust, so I got implants just for him. Turns out—he's not into mine at all."
"How do you know he's not?" Irene asked, intrigued.
"I tested it," Kelly said matter-of-factly.
Irene didn't dare ask what kind of test that was.
Still feeling a little dazed, she walked Kelly into the detention center.
Only when Shelby was brought into the room did Irene fully pull herself together.
After a few days behind bars, Shelby looked a mess.
Her complexion was sallow, her figure had thinned out, and without makeup or her usual designer clothes, she looked nothing like the elegant socialite she used to be.
As soon as she saw Irene, she launched into a vicious tirade of insults.
Irene sat quietly, arms crossed, not saying a word.
She waited until Shelby ran out of steam—dry-mouthed and breathless—before finally speaking, her tone calm and detached. "Henry's injured. He's in the hospital. Don't expect him to come running to help you.
"Also, the Jackson family has officially removed both your names from the household. They even published the announcement in the newspaper."
Shelby's eyes widened with fury. She was just about to curse again when Irene cut in. "I also have hotel receipts showing you and your company's top influencer checked into a room together. One more insult out of your mouth, and I'll make those records public."
Shelby's lips snapped shut instantly.
She stared at Irene, her expression flickering between disbelief and fear, her face pale one moment and flushed the next.
"You… How did you find out?"
She'd been extremely discreet—Henry didn't even have a clue. 'How has Irene uncovered it?' she wondered.
"There's no such thing as a perfect secret," Irene said lightly. "If you don't want it known, don't do it."
In her previous life, when the Jackson family fell into crisis, Shelby hadn't hesitated to abandon Henry and run off with her son. On her way out, she made a stop to say goodbye to her lover—and got photographed by reporters.
Henry lost Shelby, his son, and his pride overnight. He suffered a brain hemorrhage on the spot and ended up hospitalized.
Now, Shelby silently glared at Irene, her eyes practically dripping with venom and resentment.
Through gritted teeth, she hissed, "My biggest regret is not choking you to death 25 years ago."
That didn't even make Irene flinch.
She replied coolly, "Don't worry. You'll have bigger regrets soon."
At her nod, Kelly stepped forward and laid a thick stack of documents on the table—the share transfer papers they'd prepared overnight.
Shelby stared at them, her expression darkening.
She grabbed the documents and flipped through them quickly. The more she read, the angrier she looked.
Finally, she slammed them down and growled, "You're insane, Irene! You want all my shares? You're out of your mind!"
Shelby was the CEO and majority shareholder of a media company. She owned 60% of the stock.
And Irene had the audacity to demand all of it.
"You don't have to sign," Irene said calmly, her tone still perfectly measured.
Then came the blade under the silk. "But if you don't, I'll make sure every ugly thing you've ever done sees the light of day. Including—but not limited to—trying to drown your own daughter, sleeping with your company's top influencer, encouraging men to assault your daughter…
"Oh, and let's not forget coercing your female influencers into signing exploitative contracts and forcing them to drink and sleep with clients.
"Sign or don't. Entirely up to you."
Then she sat back, looking utterly at ease, and waited—watching the color drain from Shelby's face with faint amusement.
Shelby's fingers trembled as she stared at Irene like she was some kind of monster.
