Aiden was worried something might have happened to Irene. He asked with concern, "Did something go wrong with Miss Jackson?"
Jeremy didn't respond. His face gave nothing away.
A growing sense of dread settled in Aiden's chest — he feared something serious had happened.
Then, unexpectedly, Jeremy changed tack. "See if there's a woman named Melody in Eldraeth City."
"There are probably a lot of people with that name. What line of work is she in?" Aiden asked, trying to narrow the search to make it more efficient.
Jeremy paused, suspiciously quiet.
"I think... she might be a madam at a nightclub," he said at last, his tone laced with hesitation.
Aiden was stunned.
'Has Mr. Tucker finally snapped from years of restraint? Has he developed some forbidden crush on Miss Jackson, and now, bound by social decorum, decided to take a detour... by hiring an escort?' he thought.
Still half in a daze, Aiden went off to investigate.
He had a contact book that listed phone numbers for all the major players in Eldraeth City.
Without wasting time, he called up the owner of the city's largest nightclub. One question later, he had what he needed.
"Found her, Sir. Melody runs a high-end nightclub. But... her club doesn't employ female escorts — only male ones."
Aiden's wording was tactful and polished.
Jeremy wasn't the least bit surprised.
If Irene had gone to Melody for male models, it was obvious what kind of role Melody played — she was clearly a fixer in that world.
"Call Melody. Ask her…" Jeremy began, then stopped mid-sentence.
He realized that having Aiden call might put Irene's reputation at risk. So he changed course, "Dial the number. I'll speak to her myself."
Aiden complied.
When the call connected and the woman confirmed she was Melody, Aiden said politely, "Melody, my employer, Mr. Tucker, would like to ask you something."
On the other end, Melody's voice came through — sultry, smooth, full of the charm of a worldly woman. "Which Mr. Tucker are we talking about?"
Melody had a wide network — powerful friends and high places.
Anyone who could ring her private line wasn't just anyone. In her mind, a long list of high-profile men surnamed Tucker flashed by in an instant.
Aiden, ever discreet and professional when it came to Jeremy's identity, said nothing more.
He simply handed the phone to Jeremy, then stepped quietly to the side.
But Jeremy covered the receiver and gave him a subtle look — a clear signal to step outside.
Still dazed, Aiden obediently left the room.
He thought, 'This is... unbelievable.
'Mr. Tucker is actually making a private call — to a madam.
'And not just any madam — one who exclusively deals in male escorts.
'Oh. My. God.
'No wonder Mr. Tucker hasn't dated, hasn't been on blind dates, hasn't gotten married — and has relied on his right hand to deal with any physical urges.
'Could it be… he isn't into women?'
Thinking he'd just uncovered a massive secret, Aiden suddenly felt like his head might not be long for his shoulders.
"Melody, hello — this is Jeremy," Jeremy said, calmly introducing himself.
His voice was like hoarfrost on snow — quiet, cold, and deeply alone.
Just hearing that name sent a jolt through Melody.
"M-Mr. Tucker?" she stammered. "Is there... something I can help you with?"
Melody, being a madam, naturally assumed Jeremy was reaching out to request a reliable male escort.
Flattered and more than a little thrilled — as if she'd just stumbled onto some high-level gossip — she perked up.
"There's a young woman in my family, surname Jackson, who seems to know you," Jeremy said. "I haven't been able to reach her. I was wondering if she's contacted you tonight."
Melody was speechless.
Now that was a minefield of a question.
She wondered, 'A Jackson family woman?
'Do I know someone like that?'
Melody stayed silent, but her breathing grew a little quicker.
Jeremy guessed her mind was probably racing, so he offered a gentle nudge. "She studied architecture. Likes to have a bit of fun. You two are friends on WhatsApp. If you've heard anything, I'd appreciate it if you let me know."
Female, surname Jackson, studying architecture, friends on WhatsApp...
Melody's eyes went wide. The realization hit her like a jolt.
'Oh, hell. It's that girl — Irene.
'Irene, girlfriend of Dorian.
'And this Mr. Tucker? He is Dorian's uncle. It actually checks out.'
Melody and Irene did, in fact, know each other.
Beyond her nightclub business, Melody also dabbled in scouting talent. She'd once tried to convince Irene to go into acting, but Irene had firmly turned her down.
Oddly enough, that didn't push them apart — they'd ended up on pretty good terms.
In fact, Irene had even designed the interiors of Melody's club.
Melody genuinely liked Irene — didn't want to see her get dragged into anything — but she also didn't dare risk crossing Jeremy.
After a moment's thought, she carefully replied, "Mr. Tucker, I do know Miss Jackson personally. But she's a top student from Aurelith University — smart, grounded, and with a strong moral compass. She's never had any connection to my business here."
After praising Irene to build a little cushion, Melody got back to the question. "The last time we messaged on WhatsApp was two weeks ago. She might just be out and about — phone's probably dead."
Jeremy figured she wouldn't risk lying to him — and that told him what he needed to know.
He ended the call and summoned Aiden back in. "Check the major hotels. See if Irene has checked in anywhere tonight."
Aiden's brow twitched.
'So after all that, what really matters to Mr. Tucker... is still Miss Jackson?' he thought.
"Understood."
Still, the whole thing didn't sit right with him.
'Whether Miss Jackson has actually checked into a hotel with someone or not — isn't this the kind of thing her actual boyfriend, Dorian, should be looking into?
'Given Mr. Tucker's status, poking around like this just doesn't seem... appropriate.'
But Aiden didn't ask any questions.
In fact, he found himself thinking, 'If Mr. Tucker really does like Miss Jackson... and plan to go up against Dorian for her…
'Well then.
'All I can do is back Mr. Tucker's play — even if that means helping him do something he probably shouldn't.'
On the other end, Melody wasted no time. The second the call ended, she tried phoning Irene.
No answer. She started to panic.
She wondered, 'Is Irene really stepping out? Behind Dorian's back? Messing around with some random boy toy?
'And worse — has this whole mess somehow landed in front of Jeremy, the thunderbolt-tempered heir of the Tucker family?'
Melody was out of moves. She had no choice but to message Irene on WhatsApp. Melody: [Irene, Mr. Tucker just called me. Asked if you'd been in touch. I told him the truth — just so you're aware.]
As expected, the message showed "sent" — but no reply.
