"Mr. Tucker, we found Miss Jackson."
Aiden walked briskly to the coffee table and bent down to place a tablet in front of him. "Miss Jackson checked into the Wonder Hotel in the CBD around 9 p.m. tonight. She's sharing a room with a girl named Valerie.
"This is lobby surveillance footage from that time."
Jeremy uncrossed his legs and leaned forward, watching the video intently.
On the screen, Irene and a young woman in black appeared, supporting each other as they entered the lobby. After checking in, they headed into the elevator together.
No tall, handsome six-foot-two male model followed behind them.
Once the footage ended, Jeremy visibly relaxed. He looked at Aiden and said, "Good work. Head home and get some rest."
Aiden usually clocked out by 9:30 p.m., and tonight had run late because of this matter.
"Alright, I'll head back. Call me if you need anything."
Aiden was a Eldraeth City native with just one apartment — the commute was a hassle.
So Jeremy had simply bought him two more. One near the Tucker family estate, and another close to the Serenity Residence.
There was a reason Aiden was so fiercely loyal.
After Aiden left, Jeremy sat on the sofa for a while. On impulse, he opened WhatsApp and replayed Irene's voice messages.
Her voice, sweet and a little slurred, drifted into the quiet room — soft and sticky like honey in his ears. A strange, tingling warmth crept down his spine.
Drunk Irene sounded nothing like her usual self. She was clingy. Playful. Almost... coquettish.
He listened to the two voice messages again and couldn't help but let out a small, amused laugh.
"Six-foot-two, good-looking, skilled, experienced… you really don't set the bar low, do you?"
'Is Dorian not enough for her?' he wondered.
"And she claims it's her first time, no real experience..."
As soon as the words left his mouth, Jeremy stiffened. His expression shifted, a flicker of panic flashing in his eyes.
'What am I even thinking?'
He was mocking his own nephew… over his nephew's girlfriend.
'Jeremy, you've officially lost your mind.'
Irene woke up in the middle of the night, shivering. Half-conscious, she crawled up and gave Valerie a few groggy nudges, urging her to get into bed properly.
Valerie barely managed to climb up before falling asleep again the moment her head hit the pillow.
Irene went to the bathroom, but after that, she couldn't fall back asleep. She picked her phone up off the floor and found it completely dead. Panicked, she dug through her bag until she found her power bank and plugged it in.
It took a while for the phone to power on.
As soon as the lock screen slid away, a flood of WhatsApp notifications popped up.
First came Dorian's profile.
Below that, a yellow cat — Melody.
And under that, a bright sunflower icon, labeled...
Uncle Jeremy?
Jeremy had sent her four messages — three hours ago.
'Why is he messaging me in the middle of the night? What is he doing up?' she thought.
Curious, Irene skipped right over Dorian and Melody's names and tapped on Jeremy's chat first.
The screen displayed.
9:12 p.m. — Jeremy: [Sent the wrong message?]
9:14 p.m. — Jeremy: [Irene, did you and Dorian fight? Don't do anything stupid.]
9:15 p.m. — Jeremy: [Just gonna sleep with some random guy? Irene, you're an adult. Think before you act.]
9:26 p.m. — Jeremy: [Irene, answer me.]
Irene was speechless.
She scrolled up and realized that, at 9:10 p.m., she had sent him two voice messages.
One was 15 seconds.
The other just 5.
Hands trembling, she tapped the shorter one first. Her own drunken voice came through, soft and slurred. "Make sure he's gentle and knows what he's doing. It's my first time, I don't have any... real experience."
"AH!"
She threw the phone like it was a bomb.
It landed on the bed, but she stared at it like it had grown horns and fangs.
As for the longer voice message — she didn't even dare listen.
She knew exactly how bad it must've been.
Valerie jolted awake from the scream. Still half-asleep, she instinctively pulled Irene behind her like a human shield and sat up in a defensive stance.
"Who's there?"
