"Quick! Call an ambulance!" Lily screamed in panic, tears streaming down her face as she dropped to her knees beside her father, sobbing uncontrollably.
To an outsider, it looked as if Mike had already kicked the bucket, with Lily wailing at his funeral.
The scene descended into utter chaos, with everyone running around in a panic.
The Barnes family maintained a private doctor and ambulance on standby.
The driver pulled the ambulance over, and the doctor jumped out. While giving first aid to Dorian, he shouted, "Quick, help me get him into the ambulance! We need to rush to the hospital right away!"
As a dedicated public servant, Noah rushed forward to lend a hand.
Deeply concerned about Mike's safety, Dorian didn't even pause to tell Irene before leaping into the ambulance to accompany his father to the hospital.
No sooner had the ambulance sped away than Ruby came charging out of the mansion, brandishing a white cane.
"Jeremy! I'll kill you!" Ruby shrieked, brandishing the cane as she charged at him.
Irene darted in front of Jeremy and delivered a swift kick that sent Ruby sprawling.
Seeing this, Aiden, who had been poised to act, froze in place.
'Wait, isn't protecting Mr. Tucker supposed to be my job?' Aiden thought, puzzled.
Jeremy looked down in surprise, his cold eyes unreadable as he saw Irene shielding him from behind.
Both Noah and Austin were stunned by Irene's sudden move.
'How very kind of Irene,' Austin mused with heavy sarcasm. 'She should really get a medal for that.'
"Irene, get out of my way!" Ruby snapped, redirecting all her fury toward Irene.
She picked up her white cane and scrambled to her feet, glaring daggers at Irene. "Jeremy drove my grandfather to have a stroke—he's practically a murderer!" she shouted.
"Irene, are you seriously protecting a killer?"
Irene's mind was a complete mess.
She thought, 'Why did I have to play the hero when Ruby was trying to kill Jeremy?
'Is Aiden fucking useless or what?'
Irene couldn't bring herself to look at Jeremy or the others—she was too afraid to see their reactions.
"Ruby, don't make false accusations," Irene said with forced calm.
"We all saw what happened, Ruby. Your grandfather fell on his own. And let's not forget—he was trying to attack Mr. Tucker just before that!"
"Come off it!" Ruby brandished her cane, aiming straight for Irene's head.
Just in time, Jeremy yanked Irene aside, narrowly dodging Ruby's swinging cane.
Ruby's cane missed Irene and struck the hard ground. The rebounding force sent a sharp pain shooting through her palm.
Furious at missing Irene, Ruby stomped her foot in frustration.
Seeing Jeremy and Irene standing so intimately close, Ruby thought she had caught them in some scandalous act. She blurted out recklessly, "So this is why you're protecting Jeremy!
"Irene, so you're trying to have your cake and eat it too!
"You little schemer! First you hooked up with my Uncle Dorian, and now, you're after his uncle too?"
'This is so unfair!' Irene thought, feeling utterly wronged.
'I haven't even gotten with Jeremy yet—no way am I taking the blame for this!'
Noah and Austin couldn't stomach it any longer.
Ruby's vulgar rumor-mongering was utterly unbecoming of a well-bred heiress from the Barnes family.
Jeremy looked utterly uninterested in the young girl's nonsense and shot Aiden a meaningful glance.
Aiden finally got to put his skills to good use.
He clamped down on Ruby's shoulder and, with ruthless precision, immediately dislocated her arm.
With a brutal twist, Aiden dislocated Ruby's arm—the sickening pop made everyone flinch.
'Is Aiden this powerful?' Irene thought in shock.
Half of her wild idea of asking Jeremy to father her child vanished on the spot.
She was afraid she wouldn't even make it out of Jeremy's bed before Aiden dislocated all her limbs!
Aiden snatched the white cane from Ruby's hand. He said coolly, "Young lady, you're overexcited. A little nap will do you good."
With a swift, practiced chop, Aiden knocked Ruby out cold.
His moves were as deft as Ruth filleting a fish.
Seeing this, Irene froze in terror, not daring to move a muscle.
Aiden steadied Ruby, eyeing the white cane in his hand. He turned to the Barne family's butler and asked, "Is Mr. Saul Barnes in?"
The second son of the Barnes family, Saul, was blind. That cane Ruby had? She most likely snatched it right from him.
