"John, are you okay?" Lily gasped, reaching out to touch his forehead.
He jerked away with a look of disgust, his voice icy. "What are you doing here? Where's Mary?"
Lily's eyes widened in shock. "Mary... died yesterday."
In an instant, John lunged forward, slamming Lily onto the bed with terrifying force. "If you ever curse Mary again, I swear I'll kill you!" His bloodshot eyes bore into hers, wild and unhinged, making her shriek in terror.
"Help! Someone help! John's lost his mind!"
He staggered off the bed, muttering under his breath like a madman. "I need to find Mary... I have to find Mary..." Just as he reached the door, my mother stepped inside, her eyes red and swollen.
The moment he saw her, desperation flashed across his face. "Mom, they're all lying to me—telling me Mary's dead. Please, tell them it's not true!"
But she just stood there, silent, her gaze cold and unforgiving.
"What is this pathetic act?" she finally spat. "If you really loved her, why did you betray her? When Mary was dying from that snakebite, you chose to save that woman instead. And now you have the nerve to come here pretending to care?"
Before she could say more, Lucy burst into the room, shoving a phone into John's hands. She flipped through it frantically, whispering something to him.
As he watched, the color drained from his face. With a snarl, he hurled the phone aside and lunged at Lily, fingers closing around her throat.
"So that's why Mary thought I was ignoring her!" he roared. "You scheming bitch—you've been sabotaging us this whole time! I should kill you right now!"
It all made sense now. During the time John and Lily had grown closer, he'd even given her his phone password—trusting her enough to let her use it freely. And she'd used that trust to delete every message I'd sent him.
"You ruined everything!" John raised his fist, ready to strike—but doctors rushed in, wrestling him back. Lily, pale and trembling, seized the chance to bolt.
Just then, another voice spoke up from the corner of the room—quiet but chilling.
"I've seen that woman before."
