"Feelings can be rebuilt!" Harrison argued desperately: "As long as I'm good enough to you, I can definitely reawaken all your love for me!"
Whitney shook her head: "Harrison, I waited for you for eight years. In those eight years, I gave you countless chances, but you never gave me an ounce of trust or believed a single word I said."
"You even hoped I'd die during childbirth to make room for someone else."
"Whit, I..."
Whitney cut off his explanation: "You say you love me, but after losing your memory, you had no physical memory of me and were easily manipulated by others. Is that what you call love?"
"Whit, I can explain this!" Harrison said urgently: "Only after taking the brain nerve recovery medication did I remember something. When I rushed into the fire to save you and fell into a coma, I had a dream where I followed a group of people to the other side of a cliff and met an old man."
"He said the price for me wanting to live was losing all my memories of you."
"I was worried about leaving you alone in the world, so..."
Whitney laughed coldly: "You'd say something this ridiculous just to get me back? Absolutely absurd!"
With that, she turned to leave, showing the man her resolute back: "Harrison, not everything in this world can be changed by you. Just like seawater will never flow backward, and I will never forgive you or remarry you."
"You're not a good husband or a good father. The only thing you can do to make amends is be a good son—stop drinking and worrying your mother."
"What I'm saying is TRUE, Whit. I'm not lying!" Harrison chased after her, blocking her path: "I really had that dream—I swear!"
"I don't believe a word you say." Whitney walked to Xavier's side: "Let's go!"
"You can't leave!" Harrison spread his arms to block the car, his expression cold: "Whit, if you insist on leaving with him, you'll have to run me over!"
Whitney reluctantly got out of the car, trying to reason with him: "Can you please be mature and stop forcing me?"
"I don't love you anymore. This kind of coercion is meaningless!"
"It IS meaningful—as long as you give me a chance, we can be good as new!" Harrison took off his prayer beads and held them out to her, his voice firm: "I got back the prayer beads I've worn since childhood. Put them on and come home with me, okay?"
"The lilies I planted for you have bloomed. You can see them when you open the bedroom window—they smell amazing and are so beautiful!"
"She needs to go home and put her son to bed—no time to listen to your rambling." Xavier stepped in front of Whitney, pushing back the beads: "Harrison, people need self-awareness. The person she loves now is me, not you!"
"Please, Harrison." Whitney's voice was choked: "Camden's waiting for me at home. If I'm late, he'll cry all night."
Harrison's heart ached as he made way, but grabbed her sleeve: "Whit, that dream is real—I didn't lie to you!"
"I don't believe it." Whitney didn't look at him once as she got in the car.
He watched the distant car with the embracing figures inside, clutching his chest as he knelt and sobbed.
During those eight years of amnesia, he'd never given Whitney an ounce of trust. Now karma was biting him back.
So this was how painful it was not to be trusted by someone you love—it hurt so much his organs were shattered into millions of pieces, bloody and raw.
He struggled to stand up using the car for support, pressing his lips tight and gritting his teeth.
There had to be a way to win back Whitney!
He would never give up!
