The day before the engagement, Whitney took Camden to pick out formal wear.
The shop clerk was very enthusiastic, selecting a white suit with gold trim for the little guy—it matched perfectly with the gold butterfly bow on her white dress.
She was satisfied with how the child looked and was about to pay when Harrison brought people into the store.
The man coughed violently as he held up a small suit: "Camden, Grandma personally made you an outfit. Try it on?"
Camden hid behind Whitney warily: "Mommy, scared."
Harrison's smile froze on his face as he deliberately softened his voice: "I'm not a bad guy—I'm your daddy. We met at the hospital the other night, remember?"
He operated a remote control, making the yellow toy car transform into various shapes, his voice proud: "How's that, son?"
"Isn't the car Daddy designed for you really cool?"
Camden peeked out from behind Whitney to watch, his eyes flashing with longing. He ran to Xavier's arms, pulled out his wallet, and handed it to Harrison, saying sweetly: "Money! Buy car!"
"Silly boy, this is a gift for you—no money needed." Harrison looked sad, reaching out to touch the child's head.
The child was surprised and scared, stepping back several times.
The little guy's retreat deeply hurt Harrison.
He struggled to hold back his tears: "Don't be scared, son. I won't hurt you!"
"Harrison, Camden cried until midnight the other night because you suddenly showed up, you know that?" Whitney shielded the child behind her, annoyed: "He's very timid and scared of you. Can you please stop disrupting our peaceful life?"
"I'm so SICK of this!"
"Harrison, Whitney's sleep had been getting better, but lately because of you she's having insomnia again. You know that?"
Xavier's face was stern: "They have me to protect them—they don't need your gestures or compensation. Stop wasting your energy!"
"You have no right to interfere in my business with her!" Harrison stared into his eyes without backing down: "That divorce agreement signature was forged by Vera, not my handwriting. Legally speaking, Whitney is still my wife!"
"Ha! Whitney's personal information has all been canceled—it's like this person doesn't exist anymore. How could a marriage relationship exist?"
Xavier frowned with displeasure: "Stop making trouble and GET LOST!"
"Xavier, you can't reason with a madman. Let's go." Whitney said.
The moment she pushed open the door, the crystal chandelier above crashed down, heading straight for Camden's face in her arms.
Whitney was shocked, turning to shield her son and bending down.
Then she felt a figure cover her back with a muffled grunt.
Crash—
The chandelier shattered with a crisp sound.
She looked up in surprise to see Harrison protecting her!
The man's forehead had two streams of dark blood, swaying as he said hoarsely: "I'm fine—go check Camden!"
Whitney looked down.
Her heart raced as she carefully brushed glass fragments from the child's right eye, her voice trembling: "Camden, your eye is okay, right?"
The child cried heartbreakingly, mixed with a woman's gleeful laughter: "Whitney Collins, why should my Marcus be gone while your son gets to live healthy?"
"It's not fair!"
"I'll destroy your son's eyes and make you suffer forever!"
"Someone call an ambulance!" Whitney held her crying child: "HURRY!"
