Back at the hospital again, Whitney was extremely heavy-hearted.
After tense emergency treatment, her son's right eye corner finally stopped bleeding and he was kept for observation.
She breathed a secret sigh of relief, then was urgently called to the doctor's office: "Ms. Collins, your son's right cornea is severely damaged and needs corneal transplant surgery within 72 hours."
"Otherwise, his corneal ulceration will gradually worsen and spread to the entire eye. Then we'd have to remove the right eyeball."
"WHAT?" Whitney was thunderstruck, rushing to grab the man standing by the wall: "Harrison Sterling, why did you move against Vera's son? Why did you drive her to desperation?"
"My Camden is only two years old—if he goes blind, how will he live?"
"What am I supposed to DO?"
"Whit, Vera's son's death was an accident!" Harrison held her shoulders, saying firmly: "Don't panic—I'll definitely find a suitable cornea for the child quickly. His eyes will be fine!"
"And I've already had Vera locked up—she can't hurt you anymore!"
"How can I not panic? Camden's cornea shape is very special—different from normal children!" Whitney broke down crying: "Where can we find a suitable donor in such a short time?"
"You bastard, just how much do you plan to hurt us before you're satisfied?"
"Whitney!" Xavier pushed through the door, his expression serious: "I've contacted all domestic and international medical resource banks to help find a cornea. I'm sure we'll have news soon!"
Seeing him, Whitney's tears flowed even harder as she threw herself into his arms: "Xavier, I really hate Harrison to death. Because of him, my son's been hurt like this!"
"Whit..."
"SHUT UP!" Xavier glared at Harrison: "Harrison Sterling, the person Whitney least wants to see in this lifetime is YOU, understand?"
"If you still have any feelings from the past, then get the hell out and stop bothering her!"
Harrison watched Whitney sobbing quietly, pain spreading from his feet throughout his body, making him unable to stand steady.
He'd wanted to build a good relationship with his son.
Never imagined it would backfire and cause his son such suffering.
Camden's eyes absolutely could not be harmed!
Otherwise, he'd never forgive himself!
He stepped back and closed the door, making a decision.
At dinner, Whitney received notice from the doctor that they'd found a suitable cornea donor and could operate first thing in the morning.
She was surprised and delighted, asking about the donor patient's condition.
The doctor said: "Ms. Collins, mutual anonymity between donor and recipient is hospital policy. Don't make this difficult for me. Let the child rest early."
"Okay, thank you!" Whitney returned to the ward and couldn't wait to tell Xavier the good news.
The man hesitated, staying silent for a long time before saying: "Whitney, there's something I think I should tell you. The donor is Harrison Sterling."
"He went to the eye center this morning for a full examination—all parameters match well."
"But typically, cornea donors are patients who died within 6 hours. If a living person donates, his eyes will go blind."
"WHAT?" Whitney's smile froze: "Is he INSANE?"
"Whit, I'm not crazy—I know exactly what I'm doing."
Harrison's voice came from outside the window: "Our Camden hasn't had me fulfill any fatherly duties since birth. I want to do something for my son."
Whitney looked at him, her voice catching: "Harrison, even if you donate a cornea for my son, I'm still marrying Xavier and won't come back to you. You're still willing?"
"If you go blind, people will discriminate against you!"
"I'm willing!" Harrison stared into her eyes with determination: "I'm willing to do anything for you and our child, even if it means blindness, even if it costs my life!"
