Raina rushed to his side, taking his hand.
"Sean? What's wrong?"
"Cassia, she married someone else!"
Raina glanced at the news, then laughed lightly.
"Oh, Sean, she adores you! This is just a publicity stunt. Rich people do this all the time for business."
"A stunt?" Sean relaxed, just a little.
"Come on," Raina coaxed. "It's time for our vows."
Just as they exchanged rings and kissed, the ballroom doors burst open. Sean smiled smugly, expecting to see me.
His smile died.
Police officers marched in.
"What’s going on?" Sean stammered.
The lead officer ignored him and read from a warrant. "Cassia Elleston has accused Raina Hawthorn of grand larceny. The evidence has been confirmed. You're under arrest."
Sean protested wildly.
"It was a gift! A gift from Cassia!"
"It was an unlawful transfer of assets," the officer stated coolly. "And Ms. Elleston disputes your claim."
"She's just trying to sabotage my wedding!"
"You obstruct justice again, sir, and you'll be joining her. Take Ms. Hawthorn into custody!"
Chaos erupted. Raina's relatives started gossiping. "Her dowry was stolen? How shameless!"
Sean's parents hissed at him.
"You idiot! You blew it!"
"You dumped a billionaire for a beggar!"
Sean grabbed his phone.
"Cassia's forcing my hand! I'll make her drop the charges!"
A man blocked his path.
"This is from Ms. Elleston. A wedding gift."
He handed Sean a phone. It was connected to the ballroom's projector.
The screen lit up with a year's worth of vulgar texts and videos, proof of Sean and Raina's affair. Including an explicit recording from the night before.
Sean's face turned ghostly white.
How?
She knew?
His expression shattered when he saw who had sent the messages:
"Raina".
For a whole year, she had been forwarding their private chats to me, taunting me, trying to get me to back off.
That's why Cassia never kissed me...
As the sounds of their affair filled the ballroom, Sean lunged for the screen and smashed it.
"STOP WATCHING! IT'S FAKE!"
He screamed, fumbling with the remote and accidentally blasting the volume even louder.
His wedding ended in a circus.
My assistant gave me the full report as Caleb and I arrived at our new home after our own ceremony.
I smiled. "Well done."
I blocked Sean's number for good.
Caleb's villa in California felt surreal.
One day we were rivals, the next, husband and wife. The awkwardness was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
"Should we draft up a contract?" I wondered.
Suddenly, Caleb leaned in and kissed me.
"Don't get any ideas," he said, pulling away. "I only married you for convenience."
He paused, and his voice softened.
"But... I don't plan on getting married again. And neither should you."
I blinked, completely missing the fact that his ears were bright red.
His phone rang.
He put it on speaker. "Caleb? It's Sean. You got a minute?"
Before Caleb could answer, I said, "He doesn't."
Sean's voice turned frantic. "Cassia? What are you doing at his house?!"
I scoffed.
"I live here. We're married."
"It's just for business, right? It's fake!"
"Grow up, Sean."
"DIVORCE HIM!" He screamed into the phone.
