Back in her office, Charlotte began packing her things.
Sophia walked in carrying boxes, haughtily threw them on the desk, and pushed all of Charlotte's neatly packed items onto the floor.
"What are you doing?" Charlotte looked up coldly.
"Nothing. Just thinking how pathetic you are."
Sophia stepped closer, challenge clear in her eyes. "Guess how long you'll keep your director position? Trust me, someday I'll be sitting in your chair. And not just that chair, either."
Charlotte laughed coldly. "With your abilities? You want to be a director? You're too stupid."
Sophia was furious. "What did you say? Say that again!"
"I'll say it ten times if needed. You've been under me for three months and made countless mistakes. Honestly, I've never met anyone as stupid as you."
"Bitch!"
Sophia couldn't contain herself. She raised her hand to slap Charlotte but received a slap from Charlotte instead.
"Ah! You hit me?"
"Yes, I hit you. Do I need to schedule an appointment first?"
Sophia clutched her face, crying in pain. "You're horrible! I'm telling Mason!"
"What now?" Mason walked in from outside.
Sophia immediately threw herself into his arms.
"Mason! Charlie hit me and called me stupid! Said I'd never be director. I know I'm not smart, but I'll work hard! My dream since childhood was to be an ad planner, but with one sentence, she crushed my dream!"
She cried breathlessly. Mason comforted her by patting her back.
"Who says you're stupid? You're just adorable."
Hearing his tone, Charlotte's nose stung, and she felt like crying.
In the past, Mason had hated stupid people more than anything.
If someone at the company made mistakes more than three times, he would fire them without hesitation.
Sophia had made at least ten errors in three months, yet he called it "adorable"?
"Charlotte, you hit Sophia and called her stupid, saying she'd never be a director. Is that true?"
Mason questioned her. Charlotte didn't flinch. "Yes, that's what I said. It's just a fact. You should know her capabilities better than I do, Mr. Sullivan."
"Fine!"
Mason made a phone call, and within five minutes, the HR manager rushed over.
"Mr. Sullivan, what can I do for you?"
"Effective immediately, remove Charlotte from her position as advertising director and give it to Sophia!"
Everyone was shocked, finding it almost unbelievable.
"Mr. Sullivan, you can't be serious? Ms. West has been with the company for five years and earned that position. Her achievements speak for themselves. Sophia has only been here three months and hasn't even created a single ad campaign... Your staff will be unhappy about this."
"Who dares to be unhappy? If they're unhappy, they can leave!" Mason narrowed his eyes, glancing at Charlotte. "What about you? Are you unhappy too?"
Charlotte smiled sardonically, meeting his gaze. "Yes, I am. What now? Are you going to tell me to leave too?"
"Would you? If you agree to let Sophia be director, I can make you deputy director. Otherwise, get out now!"
The HR manager quickly interjected, "Mr. Sullivan, Ms. West already submitted her resi…"
"Fine, I agree."
Charlotte interrupted, crouching to pick up her belongings and place them in a box. "But I don't need to be deputy director. Mason, I hope you won't regret today's decision."
Mason was absolutely certain: "I won't regret it."
As Charlotte was about to leave with her box, Sophia curiously asked, "Charlie, those pens in your box are so special, with the caps all sanded smooth."
"You like them?" Mason looked down at the girl in his arms, his eyes full of affection.
"Yeah."
She nodded happily. "But Charlie won't give them to me, will she?"
"Charlotte…"
Before Mason could finish, Charlotte took all the pens he had personally sanded from her box and placed them on the desk.
"Why wouldn't I give them to you? Ms. Klein is now the apple of Mr. Sullivan's eye. He'd give you the moon if you asked for it. These are just pens. If you like them, they're all yours."
Her calmness surprised Mason, who nodded with complex emotions. "That's better. Charlie, I'll sand new ones for you later."
Charlotte replied in a barely audible voice: "Don't bother. There's no need anymore."
But Mason didn't hear her. "By the way, we're meeting an advertising client tonight. Get ready to accompany Sophia."
"Fine."
Charlotte answered and quickly walked out.
Everyone who witnessed this hastily retreated as well.
"Mr. Sullivan has truly lost his mind. Ms. West, you…"
The HR manager tried to express sympathy, but Charlotte just shook her head with a smile. "It's fine. I'm leaving soon anyway, right? If Sophia wants the director position, let her have it. I'm curious to see how long she'll last."
