I finally put my foot down—Angie had to get out of my villa.
Sure, I didn't wear my mother's jewelry often, but that didn't mean I'd let someone else parade around in it. The way Angie had been eyeing those pieces made my skin crawl. With her obsession with status and desperate need to flaunt, I knew she wouldn't stop scheming. This was my chance to cut her off for good.
Even as Angie clung to Dominick's arm, batting her lashes and playing the victim, he reluctantly agreed.
"Angie, maybe you should stay with Mom for a while," he said, his voice strained. "It'll be good for you both."
While we were hashing this out, the film crew and reporters had already done their homework. My license plate led them straight to my background—and Angie's.
One of her middle school classmates spilled the tea online: Angie's family was nothing special, and oh, by the way, she still owed that girl five bucks.
Her fans immediately jumped in, screeching about mistaken identity and demanding the post be taken down.
So the classmate dropped the ultimate bomb—a graduation photo.
The girl in that picture? Same face shape, same mouth… but those eyes? That nose? Definitely not the "natural beauty" Angie claimed to be.
The internet exploded.
Claudette, already furious over the jewelry scandal, wasted no time. "I refuse to work with a thief," she snapped.
Others piled on. "Yeah, who knows what she'll swipe next?"
With Angie's so-called "backing" exposed as a lie (thanks to our very public feud), the director didn't hesitate—he axed her on the spot.
Her downfall was swift.
Someone leaked that all her jewelry was mine. The villa? Also mine.
[So she's living in her sister-in-law's mansion, wearing her stolen necklaces, and had the nerve to call her the maid?]
[The audacity.]
Then ZoyaBloom dropped the motherlode.
She exposed Angie's stunt at my wedding—how she'd tried to hijack my spotlight and even wore the custom gown I had designed. Zoya posted the livestream footage alongside the original dress sketches.
Angie's fanbase imploded. Overnight, her followers vanished, leaving behind a trail of furious comments:
[She fought her sister-in-law over a wedding dress? No wonder it got ripped.]
[Who does that?]
[And the way she looks at her brother? Way too cozy.]
[Let's not forget—Dominick ditched his own bride to play dress-up with her. Pathetic.]
Zoya's timing was flawless. I made a mental note to give her a bonus.
But even with Angie gone, her texts and calls never stopped.
A month later, Dominick finally booked our island getaway—just like he'd promised.
Except he bought three tickets.
"Lynda," he said, "Angie's been helping with Mom. It's been tough on her. I thought she could use a break."
By "tough," he meant she'd scraped her knee at the grocery store and spent an entire night sobbing to him about it.
The truth? The backlash had broken her. She'd locked herself indoors, too scared to face the world. If she didn't get away soon, she'd lose it completely.
I didn't argue.
Because one question kept gnawing at me:
In my past life, when I was drowning—when I screamed for help—why didn't Dominick save me?
Was it an accident?
Or had he planned it all along?
