" If you were with Yoongi hyung then why did you ask me to fetch you? " Taehyung questions once he drives away from the place, not quite understanding the situation.
It's not like Jimin and Yoongi still hates each other for the omega to call him to pick him up. And as he can see, this matter is deeper than just that.
" And what's with your face. Is everything okay? "
Taehyung notices his sunken face and gloomy eyes, he have only seen Jimin this distressed one time before and it was when Yoongi left him. But he's sure that Yoongi wouldn't dare to do something like this again.
And if he does... Taehyung is ready with his secret kit.
" Can we talk after we reach your house?"
Jimin asks in a small voice and it drops Taehyung's heart. He's reminded of the past Jimin who was in so much pain, he's afraid that Jimin might go into that state once again. But he couldn't figure out the reason this time.
Was it something related to Yoonjun's other father? One thing that he knows is that it's something very serious for Jimin to become so quite like this. And even though he'd like to park the car on the side of the road and ask Jimin for the answer, he knows it's not the right thing to do.
" Okay. "
Taehyung replies, his eyes trailing to look at Jimin who has made himself smaller in the passenger seat as if he doesn't want to be there at the very moment.
" Music? "
Jimin nods at that. He really need some distraction right now to get away from his mind war. It's taking a toll on him. So much that he couldn't think straight.
His mind is showing him constant flashback of the moment when Yoongi relieved the truth to him and the conversation he had with his father.
But soon enough his thoughts starts to erase a little as his ears are filled with the soft music.
He closes his eyes, knowing well that he can't sleep but seeing the black in front of his eyes brings him a little peace. And he's in desperate need of that.
" Should I bring you something to drink? "
Taehyung's asks as they enter inside. He knows it's easy to talk when there's booze in your system.
The house seems empty to him today since Jungkook is staying with Yoonjun and he has already gotten accustomed to the omega's presence.
Jimin shakes his head at that. He usually drank alcohol when he was angry or upset, it made him forget the pain momentarily.
But today he's deeply hurt, no amount of alcohol would make him forget the betrayal he got from his own father. The pain is deep in his heart, choking and suffocating him whenever he think about it.
" Can we go to your room? "
He wants to lay down, his legs feel shaky and wobbly and he doesn't know how much longer would he be able to support himself. He had already forced his body so much but he can't do it anymore. His whole body is aching now.
Taehyung puts his hand around Jimin waist on seeing his state and helped him upstairs to his room. Even though Jimin has his own room in Taehyung's house, he doesn't want to be alone today, it'll only make him more prone to his thoughts. Being with Taehyung is the best for him.
He knows he need Taehyung by his side so the alpha can shush him down.
" Should I get you anything else ? Tea, coffee? "
Jimin shakes his head, putting his hand on Taehyung's arm instead, asking him to sit next to him.
" I just want you."
He's saying these words to Taehyung but the alpha feel like these are not meant for him.
" I'm here."
Taehyung takes a seat next to Jimin, putting his hand on top of Jimin's and starts to caress it gently. His warmth makes Jimin's heart beat again. If there's something similar between his first heart break and this; it is the constant support he got from his best friend. He's lucky to have a shoulder to cry on.
" Jimin ah, tell me what happened? "
Taehyung is not able to subdue his curiousity any longer, he needs to know what happened in order to comfort Jimin. It hurts him seeing his soulmate like this.
" T-tae..."
He stutters, he's afraid what kind of reaction Taehyung would have. What if he leaves him after getting to know the truth? No, no. The Taehyung he knows would never leave him alone in any situation. No matter how angry is he.
" Junie's father..."
Taehyung can feel his heart breaking, he knew it had something to do with this but he kept hoping that he would be wrong.
Jimin had found his happiness in Yoonjun and he didn't want that happiness to be taken away from him.
" Do you know who's his father? "
Taehyung bites down on his lips, shaking his head. If Jimin is asking him like this it only means he knows this person and he currently can't think about someone who can fit the description.
As he's rummaging through his memory to find a suitable person when Jimin's next words shock him to his core.
" It's m-me."
Taehyung wants to laugh at that, thinking it's some kind of joke. Because how is that even possible ? But Jimin is not in a condition to make any kind of jokes and it gives Taehyung pupil dilate and pulse becoming rapid because of the shock. If he's telling the truth... No, no. How could it be? Jimin can't be..
" I am. I'm Yoonjun's f-father."
Jimin says again sensing the doubt in Taehyung's heart.
Taehyung has his mouth agaped in shock, his eyes are looking at Jimin but his brain is in another dimension. He isn't able to comprehend what he's hearing, the news is that unthinkable.
He wants to look around and see if there's a camera that indicates that this all is a prank.
When Taehyung doesn't react to that, Jimin understood he will need more information to process his previous statement.
" I was pregnant when you were abroad for your study program."
His hand rests on his belly as he says that. It reminds him of when he was pregnant, it was supposed to be a happy memory for him but now all that it brings him is sadness and hurt.
Taehyung is at loss of words on hearing that. He doesn't know how he feels knowing this. Is he feeling betrayed that Jimin didn't tell him such an important news? Or is he mad at himself for not being able to be with Jimin just when he needed him the most?
" Why didn't you tell me? "
He asks coming to term with the fact that whatever Jimin just said is all true. Because there's no way Jimin would lie about something like this. And those glassy eyes of hus only adds more to it, because Jimin is not someone who'd break down so easily.
" Because you'd have came back home then."
Jimin stare at his hands, he doesn't dare to look at Taehyung. He doesn't want to. He's afraid of his reaction. He knows Taehyung will be mad at him and he has every right to be.
If it was him in his place he would have done the same. But he wants him to know he did it for him, he isn't selfish to make Taehyung come home just because of him.
" The day Yoongi left me... was also the day our child was born."
Taehyung couldn't even hear the annoying ticking sound of clock after that. There's a ringing in his head that spreads to his whole body as the words settle. If Taehyung didn't hate Yoongi before he starts to hate him now.
" That means-"
He doesn't want to say that, doesn't want to believe that but he have no other option than to think about it after all the things Jimin told him.
" -Yoongi hyung took your child away from you? "
He feels the rage rise in him. He never thought Yoongi would do something like this.
He have disapproved of many of Jimin's exes before Yoongi. But when Yoongi came in Jimin's life, Taehyung could easily tell that he was different. He wasn't like the other alphas who were after Jimin for his body or his money. That's why Taehyung was always so supportive of them. But today he feels like he was wrong about the alpha.
Just thinking about the time Jimin suffered so much... it started making sense to him.
The way Jimin cried after Yoongi left him, he wasn't just mourning over Yoongi's separation but the separation from his child too. Taehyung can't understand how Jimin bore it all inside of him.
He suddenly gets up and heads toward the door with a burning purpose in his head.
" Tae! Where are you going? "
Jimin asks but there's no response from his side.
" Tae! "
He calls him again, afraid that his inkling might be true.
" I'll make Yoongi hyung pay for this."
Taehyung opens the door to go out but Jimin came just in time and pulled him back inside.
" No! Tae! Wait-"
He stands in front of Taehyung to stop him from going outside. But the alpha wasn't in the mood to listen.
Jimin can see the hatred for Yoongi in Taehyung's eyes and it bothered him so much. He had misunderstood Yoongi once and it had already ruined his life, he doesn't want it to happen again.
" HE WAS FORCED TO DO SO."
Jimin shouts, finally making Taehyung stop and turn around to look at Jimin.
The omega slumps back on to the bed with a visible sigh. His hands finding their way to his messy hairs.
" He only did that because- because he had no other option."
He sniffles at the end. He feels so much regret just thinking about that moment. Thinking how Yoongi was pushed to the edge of no return by none other than his own beloved father.
" What do you mean? Who would force him to do something like that? "
Taehyung sits next to Jimin, his hand goes to hold Jimin's to stop them from pulling his hairs out.
Taehyung wants to tell Jimin that he doesn't have to tell it right now if he's not comfortable. But seeing how desperate Jimin seemed to be to take this thing off his chest. He knew it must have been hurting the omega alot.
" My... my dad. "
If Taehyung was shocked before he was swept off his feet by this. He couldn't feel the ground beneath him anymore. He stares ahead of him with wide open eyes, his stomach twisting just by the imagination. Jimin's father?... No, no. He can't do something like that.
" There must be some misunderstanding-- samchun would never do that."
Jimin laughs dry heartedly at that. If only Taehyung knew the real face of his father that he himself just got to see tonight. If only he knew what he hid behind that mask of a perfect father.
" NO. There's no misunderstanding. That's what he did."
His droopy eyes, have turned fierce now. He was the one who lived in misunderstanding before but not anymore.
" He left Yoongi with no other option than to leave me and take our child away."
He can't even imagine himself in Yoongi's position right now. And he starts to thing that it's partially his, fault too. For believing and loving his father so blindly that he though he could never do something wrong. For starting to think of himself as a god, which he really wasn't.
Maybe that's why Yoongi was so afraid of telling him everything. And he might not have believed Yoongi today too if he didn't witness the scene in front of his eyes and hear his father talk so harshly to him.
" Samchun... Why would he do something like this? "
Why? If only he had a valid reason to do so. Then maybe Jimin can think about entertaining the thought of forgiving him for once, but the reason he gave him was a total bullshit. And he's never going to forgive his father.
" Because he thought Yoongi and our child would take away the happiness from my life."
Jimin's low chuckle starts to scare Taehyung. He can see how hurt Jimin is behind that mask of 'I'm fine.' Jimin has always been like this, he masks his hurt in front of others so, he wouldn't bother the people around him.
He wasn't even healed from the wound that Yoongi left him after their separation when he decided to take the scholarship. And he did it to see his father happy it was never about him. He is so selfless.
" Because he thought I was a FUCKING CHILD WHO CAN'T EVEN MAKE MY OWN LIFE DECISIONS."
Jimin finally reaches his breaking point and burst into tears. He himself doesn't know how he managed to control his tears all this time. He thought he would burst into tears as soon as he meets with Taehyung.
" So, he did what he think was the best for me."
" He forced Yoongi and Yoonjun away from me and told me that i- that my baby... My baby died."
Just thinking about that time make a void in his chest. Even though he knows how it isn't real anymore, but it still hurts him. And it'll continue to haunt him like this for the rest of his life.
" Jimin ah..."
Taehyung put his hand on jimin's shoulder to stop him. He can see how all even saying these things are hurting Jimin so, he wants him to stop.
" He made me live my life in guilt for not being able to protect my child, he made me think I was the reason that Yoongi left me. He made me think that I was an useless o-omega who can't even-"
Jimin continues his rant, he can't stop, he feel like if he stops talking his thoughts would suffocate him.
" Jimin ah, calm down."
Taehyung wraps his arms around Jimin and he starts to sob more loudly because of that.
" Shh, everything's fine now."
He pats Jimin's head like a little child. Planting a kiss on his forehead to calm him down.
" And you know none of that is true."
He pulls away from the hug to wipe Jimin's tears.
" You're. not. useless. You're precious." . He says it while looking into Jimin's eyes with his red face cupped in between hhis hands.
" It's your dad who-"
" I don't wanna hear about him."
Taehyung stops at that. He can see how much it hurts Jimin just talking about his father.
Jihoon's one big mistake really changed their whole relationship. Where earlier Jimin would not stop boasting about his loving father, now he doesn't want to even hear someone talk about him. That's how much hatred has taken over his heart for him.
" Okay, okay. That's what we'll do then. No talking about him."
" You wanna talk about Yoonjun then? "
Jimin shook his head as he felt his breath get stuck in his throat. He's not ready for that yet. He needs some time, some time to heal the wound in his heart first to feel okay again.
" No, please. Not right now."
Tonight's been way too long for him. He doesn't thing he could bear it all any longer.
" Yeah, it must be too much for you to take in."
He looks at Jimin with an aching pain in his heart. To him Jimin is the bravest person he has ever seen, because if he was in Jimin's place he doesn't thing he could have dealt with all this.
" Let's try to sleep then, okay? We'll talk tomorrow morning if you want to."
" Okay."
Jimin quickly agrees because all of his energy is drained, his body feels so weak just like his heart.
" Come on, let's lay down."
He helps Jimin lay his head down on the pillow.
" Here."
He opens his arms and Jimin seeps closer to him. His head deeply buried in Taehyung's chest inhaling his scent. Taehyung release his calming alpha pheromone that calms Jimin's distressed omega. It isn't aa effective as Yoongi's but it still made him feel that he's safe.
" Thank you."
He isn't just thanking him for right now but for all the years Taehyung has been by his side whenever he needed him.
" Shh, let's go to sleep. You must be tired."
He gently pats Jimin's back until Jimin has drifted off to sleep.
" You didn't deserve any of this, Jimin."
Taehyung breaks into tears for the first time after he saw the hurting look on Jimin's face even after he was asleep. He wanted to cry too while hearing his story, but he thought if he fell weak he wouldn't have been able to take care of him.
" I-i wish I could've protected you."
Taehyung curls his fist, getting angry at himself for not being able to protect his Jimin. But that was in the past. Now he won't let anybody hurt Jimin anymore. He'll be his shield and protect his baby as long as he's alive.
