Taehyung's peaceful sleep was disturbed by some annoying noises that he keeps hearing after intervals. He tried his best to ignore them and just complete his sleep but he eventually fails in doing it. Everything feels much more annoying when you didn't get enough sleep.
So, with a tired groan and eyes still heavy with sleep, he turns straight from his sideway position. When he tried to lift his arms up to stretch, he felt a heavy weight present of his right arm that restricted him from doing so.
He thought maybe he feels that way because his arm has gone numb but then he felt hot breaths against his neck and in the next second he opens his eyes with a terrified soul.
Only to see Jimin being there. It takes him some time to remember what happened last night. And once he did, a sad smile forms on his face.
He takes his arms off from under Jimin's head, that has gone numb after Jimin used it as his pillow the whole night. But he isn't complaining, if it helped Jimin to sleep better he's happy with it.
He stares at his best friend's face, his sad pout, his hands clenched in front of his chest, eyelashes fluttering a little. Jimin sleeps peacefully right now but Taehyung knows how he'll be after waking up.
He seems like a baby like this and Taehyung has this intense urge that he wants dedicate his whole life to protect him.
If he could, he'd erase all the hurtful events from Jimin's mind. He can't see Jimin suffering like this, it breaks his heart.
Staring at Jimin had made him forget about what disturbed his sleep in the first place. But then he hears the noise again, this time he jumps out of the bed to stop wherever these noises are coming from he doesn't want to disturb Jimin's sleep.
So, with a last look at Jimin's sleeping face, he decides to finally head out. He's careful in closing the door behind him. The noises scare him a little because it's only him and Jimin in their house right now and his family members never visit him without telling him first.
But his worries vanishes away when a familiar milky scent invades his senses. It's crazy how he can just recognize Jungkook by the faintest hint of his scent now. He's getting addicted to him.
" Jungkook ah? What are you doing? "
Taehyung asks walking down the stairs. Jungkook is standing in the kitchen with his back facing towards him. And Taehyung thinks even Jungkook's broad back is very sexy.
Jungkook turns around on his name being called, a glass bowl and a whisker in his hand. He smiles on seeing Taehyung coming down.
" Good morning, hyung!"
He greets him with a big smile. Which Taehyung reciprocated but only for some seconds before Taehyung's inner wolf made him frown. He sensed another alpha's scent of him that was probably because Jungkook was wearing Yoongi's clothes.
He knows he's nothing to Jungkook than just a friend but his alpha already regards him as his omega. So, it made him jealous even if it was Yoongi's. But he soon recovered from his jealousy and started to act normal again.
" Morning kook ah. When did you come back? "
He has already told jungkook the passcode to the door so the omega can let himself in anytime.
" Yoongi hyung dropped me on his way to office."
" Hmm, is it that late? "
He says and turn around to lot at the clock only to see it was 10 in the morning, hmm quite early for him. More so when he slept so late in the night.
" What are you doing? "
He sees Jungkook rushing in the kitchen so he followed behind the omega to see what he was doing. Even though his question was already answered by the delicious smell spread in the air.
" I'm making pancakes for the breakfast."
Jungkook puts another one on the plate of his cooked pancakes.
" I had already prepared some. You should eat before they get cold."
Seeing how many Jungkook has already prepared it made Taehyung think that the omega must have been home for quite a long time now.
He takes a seat on the dining table, waiting to get his serve. He looks at Jungkook with dreamy eyes, he feel like a husband waiting to be fed by his wife.
When he's done making enough he puts them in one plate and adds some fruits on top just how Taehyung likes him. They have got to know each other's preference in such a small amount of time. It's a new experience for him after living alone for so long.
" Should I wake Jimin ssi too? "
He asks as he serves Taehyung his plate. The alpha look at him confused, because he doesn't remember telling him about Jimin, maybe Yoongi did.
" I can smell him on you."
Jungkook replies as if sensing Taehyung's question.
Taehyung made an 'o' shape with his mouth. Jimin's scent must have rubbed on him since they slept cuddled into each other's arms last night.
" Let him sleep, he cried himself to sleep last night. He needs some time to recharge."
He thinks it might surprise Jungkook but the omega is surprisingly calm like he already knew that.
" Yoongi hyung was like that too."
He says with a sad tone in his voice and Taehyung can see his own worried expression flashing in Jungkook's face. After all Jungkook is Yoongi's found family.
" His face had dried tears stains when he woke up but he tried to fake a smile for Junie's sake."
It saddens him just thinking about Yoongi's state. And when he saw that look he knew Jimin must be the same as him. The state of despair.
" Did something happen between them? "
Jungkook finally aaks the question that's revolving in his head. He couldn't ask Yoongi because the alpha didn't look like he wanted to talk and he isn't so close to Jimin to ask him either. So, that's why he couldn't stop himself from asking Taehyung.
He isn't trying to pry in their personal matter but he just wants a hint of what made his hyung heartbroken.
" Jungkook ah, do you know who Yoonjun's omega father is? "
Taehyung looks up from his plate, he hasn't touched his breakfast yet.
Jungkook shakes his head at that. That's something that neither he ever asked and nor Yoongi ever told him. He understood it must be a sore topic for Yoongi so, he never brought it up.
" It's Jimin."
Taehyung sees his shocked expression and thought if he looked the same too when he came to knew.
" W-what? "
Taehyung smiles at Jungkook's expression. The omega looked too cute for him to not smile.
" Shocking, right? Jimin didn't know either. Yoongi hyung told him last night."
It shocks Jungkook to core, there's so many questions in his head. How can Jimin not know he has a child? Why would his Yoongi hyung do that to Jimin? What will happen to their relationship now?
" Hyung-- why would he do that? "
Jungkook doesn't want to believe that his Yoongi hyung would do something like this but why would Taehyung lie about it. He have no reason to do so.
And if Yoongi had wanted to hide the truth from Jimin he would have never gotten close to him. But seeing how happy Yoongi was when Jimin and Yoonjun were together, Jungkook thinks he always wished for that scene. But maybe something or someone was stopping him from it.
" That's something that I don't think I have the right to say."
Taehyung can't tell him anything more and Jungkook totally understand. It must be Jimin's personal affair and he isn't that close to him yet to know it all. He nods his head in understanding.
" Jimin... he's been through a lot and i- I never noticed it. What kind of best friend am I that can't see his friend was suffering? "
Taehyung starts to blame himself but Jungkook is quick to dismiss his negative thoughts.
" Hyung, don't say it like that. It's not your fault."
He says in an angry tone. Angry that Taehyung thinks like that of himself. If only jungkook can say how precious he is in his eyes.
" I'm such a bad friend."
Jungkook gets frustrated by the bad talking Taehyung does about himself, he walks all the way towards the other side where Taehyung is seated. And grabbed his face in between his hand, and mind you he didn't do it very gently.
With Jungkook standing in front of him so tall and broad with eyes so fierce and hands grabbing his face it makes Taehyung unable to breathe for a second. Oh, how sexy Jungkook look like this !
He has never seen this side of Jungkook and he wants to say how he just fell in love all over again. He wouldn't mind letting Jungkook take charge of him.
He gasps as he registers what he just thought, he shakes his head to shake the thoughts away. But he can't help it when Jungkook looks at him like that.
" No, you're not! You're a friend that many people would die to have. To Jimin hyung you're a part of his family. You're the only person he can rely on during tough times that's why he called you that night. You're his safe heaven. Anyone would be lucky to have a person like you in their life."
Jungkook finally breaths after saying this all in one go. What he didn't say in that long ass speech is how he wishes he had someone like Taehyung in his life too. Someone to take care of him when he's in a bad mood, someone to whom he can go when he doesn't feel like himself, someone who wouldn't judge him no matter what he does.
" Thank you."
Taehyung smiles through his teary eyes. He couldn't believe how Jungkook could say such sweet words with that kinda expression. But the words made him more confident about himself. And he's happy that he has someone like Jungkook in his life too.
" You should eat your breakfast. I'll make it again when Jimin ssi, wake up."
Jungkook takes off his hands when he sees the position they were in, he backs off shying away from the contact.
He got a little carried away by his emotions. He just wanted to tell Taehyung how much valuable he is, but well he did it in a wrong way which can make things between him and Taehyung awkward.
Although that's not what Taehyung thinks.
It was almost afternoon when Jungkook heard the door to Taehyung's room open again. He turns off the TV as he watches Jimin come down the stairs but his smile soon turned into a frown as, he saw Jimin's state. He has never seen the omega so helpless like this, it breaks his heart too.
" Good morning, Jimin ssi."
Well it's actually afternoon.
Jungkook thought many a times to go wake him up since he must be hungry but then he thought Jimin may want some more time to be alone so he just let him be.
Jimin's eyes shot open on hearing the unfamiliar voice, he had forgotten for a second that Jungkook lived with Taehyung.
" Morning."
Jimin replies in a small voice and looked around to search for someone. He felt awkward being alone with Jungkook since they don't know each other so much.
Jungkook saw him looking around and understood what he was looking for.
" A sudden problem happened in the cafe so hyung had to go there."
" He didn't want to go there but it was really important."
Jungkook feels like he needed to highlight that fact. Taehyung was indeed very reluctant to go but Jungkook assured him that he would take good care of Jimin.
" Please wait for some time, I'll make pancakes for you."
" No-"
Jimin tried to stop him but Jungkook looked at him with an intimidating look.
" I won't take a no."
He says it like an order and Jimin thinks he look like a scary bunny. And Jimin is afraid to say no to him now.
" Hyung has trusted me with you. He'd be mad at me if I didn't feed you properly. Just wait a minute."
Jimin just nods along, following Jungkook's order he took a seat on the dinning table.
" Here, it won't be as good as hyung's but it's edible."
He serves the plate, he even made a little smiley on top for Jimin and it actually made him smile a bit. He appreciate the effort Jungkook is putting to make him happy.
Even though Jimin has really no appetite, if he declines to eat, it'd break jungkook's heart so he decides to just eat it without any fuss.
The breakfast was indeed very delicious. But what was more interesting was Jungkook's big doe eyes that looked at him in anticipation for an compliment. And it surely reminded him of someone for a split second.
" It's really good."
Jungkook released his held breath, even though Taehyung and Yoongi compliments his cooking, he still had a doubt that they were doing it because they didn't want to be seem like a bad friend.
" I don't even know how to make a simple thing like this. "
Jimin adds with a chuckle, his little laugh is enough to make jungkook feel like he succeeded in his mission.
" Can I take your picture? "
He asks out of a sudden, surprising Jimin.
" Huh? "
" To send to Tae hyung."
Jimin knows very well that that's not the case, the picture is meant for someone else. But he have no problem with it, if it makes the alpha worry less about him then he's happy with that.
" Okay."
Jungkook starts to click his pictures after the approval, making sure to get the food in the picture too. So, Yoongi would be rest assured that Jimin is not being starved in Taehyung's house.
As Jimin munches on his food, jungkook can all of a sudden see the similarity between him and Yoonjun. It's like the answer to a question was right in front of you but you only saw it after the answer was revealed.
Similarly, he can now see all the similarities between Yoonjun and Jimin that he ignored before.
" Do you need anything else? Honey, maple syrup?"
He stood up but Jimin is quick to stop him before he could go to the kitchen.
" That'd be too sweet for my liking."
" Oh."
He says as Jimin's one sentence brought him back a whiplash of memories.
His older brother didn't like sweet things too. So whenever Jungkook was angry at him or they would fight, he'd sneakily add something sweet to his food and laugh after seeing his hyung's disgusted face.
" What's wrong? "
Jimin asks seeing the clear change of energy in Jungkook's face and scent.
" No, it's just-- you remind me of my hyung."
How long has it been since he even acknowledge that he has a brother ? He never had a conversation with someone where he needed to bring him up; or maybe he purposely did so to avoid remembering him.
" You have an older brother? "
Jimin asks a bit surprised, it makes him think how less he knows about the omega. They never had the proper chance to get to know each other. They had a rocky start from the beginning.
Jungkook nods at the question.
" His name is Junghyun, and he's a doctor in a big hospital."
He smiles as he speaks about him.
" Wow! "
" My hyung is so talented right."
There's pride in his eyes, that soon turns into tears.
" But I - I haven't seen him in a long time."
It's been years, the last time he saw him was before he went off to a volunteer camp on the outskirts of the city leaving him alone with their parents.
And while he was away, the things got so heated between Jungkook and his parents that he decided to run away. He wrote a last letter for him which Jungkook isn't sure if his brother ever read or not.
" I don't even know what he's doing right now."
Does his hyung think about him like he thinks about him every hour of the day ? When he's happy, when he's sad Jungkook thinks how it'd be if his brother was here with him today.
That's the only reason he sometimes regret his decision of leaving the house that day.
But he knows that was necessary too. He couldn't continue to live in a place where he had no respect and was constantly compared to others.
" Why?"
" I ran away from my house when my parents didn't approve of my dream."
The words flow effortlessly, Jungkook didn't feel an ounce of awkwardness while sharing it with Jimin.
" They forced me to take a similar career path like my brother but I would have never been happy in that. So, I ran away."
It wasn't the only thing that lead to his decision. The constant pressure, the constant degradation for being an omega, the negligence and cold hearted environment... it all build up to that decision he had to take to start a new life.
" At first I thought maybe I was the wrong one here, that they were elder and they knew what is right for me-"
He has always been like a puppet in his parents hand, a docile person. Until he was done being like that and decided to do what he actually wanted to do and not what his parents wanted.
" But then I thought that this, is my life and only I have the right to make decisions about it. Them being my parents doesn't give them the right to make a puppet of their hands."
He would have lost this battle if his brother didn't support him. His brother was an alpha and a doctor, just the ideal son his parents wanted. So, he never went through what Jungkook did. But he saw how they treated Jungkook.
He tried to stop his parents from treating him that way but it only turned the flame towards him. But the day his brother stood up for him Jungkook knew he was on a good path.
Once he was done narrating his story his eyes catched the tears that started to flow from Jimin's eyes. He didn't care about how he was crying himself too.
" Shit- did I say something wrong? "
He started to panic.
" Please don't cry. I'm so sorry-"
What would Taehyung think if he saw this scene? He was supposed to calm Jimin down not make him cry even more.
" No, no. I'm not crying- I mean I'm crying but not because you did something wrong."
Jimin was quick to wipe his tears off om seeing the panic stricken face of Jungkook. He just saw him going through fifty shades of grief.
" It's just your words... They are very comforting right now."
He smiles but it didn't reach his eyes. He needed to hear these words from someone that what he did wasn't wrong. That he have the right to get upset even if the other person is his dad. He feels relieved now.
" Jimin ssi, can I hug you? "
Jungkook asks shocking Jimin. The omega nodded lightly. He likes physical affection but with only the person's he's close to but he can make an exception for Jungkook.
" It's alright. You'll be alright."
Jungkook whispers as he wraps his arms around him. Even though Jimin was the older one, this situation made him feel like he was being babied by Jungkook. It felt nice.
" Hyung."
" Huh? "
" You should call me hyung."
Jungkook parts away with a smile. He has one more person added to his found family now.
" Okay, Jimin hyung."
They both smiled, finding solace in each other because of their different yet similar situations. It feels nice to share your pain with someone else, it's the best way to relieve everything from your chest. And Jimin is glad he have such people surrounding him.
