Jungkook can't believe that what he's seeing in front of his eyes right now is reality and not just a figment of his own imagination.
Even when the person standing in front of him close the gap between them and embraces Jungkook in a hug, the onega still stood shocked in his place.
" Jungkook ah.."
He calls out sweetly, putting his hand on Jungkook's cheek to give them a soft caress.
There's so much happiness laced in his voice. He calls Jungkook with the same tenderness that he used to call him before.
" Hyung- it... It's really you? "
Jungkook asks overcoming his initial shock. He wouldn't have been this shocked if he was given a head ups before.
Jungkook puts his trembling hand froward but stops in between. Junghyun decides to give Jungkook all the time he needs to accept the reality.
" Yes, gguk ah. It's hyung."
He says softly taking a few steps back.
Seeing his brother back away this time Jungkook walks through the few inches difference between them, and finally comes crashing in his brother's arms.
" I'm sorry, hyung... I-i'm so sorry."
He choked out on a sob, beads of apologies escaping through his agaped lips.
Jungkook sobbed thinking about the possible hurt he has made his brother gone through all because of his one rash decision. He was afraid his brother would never forgive him for that and that's why he didn't contact him before because of this fear.
" Why are you sorry? You have nothing to be sorry about."
Junghyun wraps his arms more tightly around Jungkook. His Jungkook didn't deserve all the pain he had went through and Junghyun regrets that he wasn't there to save him from this all before. If only he was a little braver at that time...
" It's hyung, who should be sorry."
He carefully caress Jungkook's head with his hand. Oh, how he wish he would have done the same when Jungkook was suffering in the hands of their so called parents.
" It was my duty to protect you, but I was a coward so all I can do was see you suffer."
It was hard for Junghyun to go against their parents. He was supposedly the obedient child who could never say a thing against his parents. But then he saw how they treated Jungkook and he started to see them for what they really were.
" No hyung, don't say that."
Jungkook separates from the hug to wipe his brother's tears. He didn't like how his brother was blaming himself for what their parents did.
" You were the only one who supported me. If I didn't have your support back then I would have never gotten the courage to escape from that life."
It wasn't just about pursuing his dream job, but more about the disrespect he has gotten from his own parents. From being always compared to his brother to being discriminated because he was an omega.
An omega who was supposed to be a househusband whose only purpose would be to make his alpha happy and do the household chores.
His parents had always told him how he was a good of nothing and no alpha would want a mate like him. These feelings starts to house in his heart and that's when Jungkook realised he have to go away from there before he loses himself.
He's would have felt that he was the one overreacting, if Junghyun hadn't supported him at that time and make him feel that his feelings were valid.
" If only hyung was more brave I would have taken you away from there myself."
The day he came back home and his fuming parents told him that Jungkook had ran away; the only thing he regretted at that time was how he couldn't be of help to him.
Jungkook shook his head to that, he doesn't want his brother to regret something that wasn't his fault.
" I missed you so much."
Junghyun whispers finally able to say those words face to face to Jungkook. Until now he has only said them to the picture of Jungkook that he has kept very dear to his heart.
" I missed you so much too, hyung."
Jungkook whispers back with a smile that shines like sun rays among the grey clouds.
" Look at you, you've grown up so much."
Junghyun takes a good look at Jungkook's face and starts to tear up again. This time it's because of how much he missed on these growing years of his beloved brother.
Taehyung wipes his own tears from the side. This is the second reunion he's witnessing in a span of few weeks, and it's so heartwarming. He has this intense urge to join in their hug and cry too.
" Hyun ah, you should invite them inside first."
Jungkook eyes shot up with fear when he sensed there was someone else present there. But when he saw that relaxing expression on his brother's face, he realised it must be someone close to his brother.
" Ah, sorry. I was so excited I forgot to invite you in. Please, come in."
Jungkook nods following his brother, behind him Taehyung follows inside too, feeling a little bit awkward like he shouldn't be here.
" It's nice to finally meet you, Jungkook ah."
A handsome tall male, with an enchanting smile and spicy scent, walked towards Jungkook and engulfed him in his arms . Jungkook was shocked to say the least. He looked confusedly at his brother for answers.
" Gguk ah, this is Sangmin, my mate."
Junghyun put his arm around the other person's waist, pulling him back to his side.
" Y- your mate ? "
Jungkook stutters, he looked at the person again to see him smiling his way. What shocked Jungkook more was the fact that this person was an alpha and his brother was an alpha too.
And knowing their parents, Jungkook knows they would never allow an alpha and alpha relationship. Because it's not common and his parents hate things that go beyond their understanding of normalcy.
" We got married 2 years ago after dating for sometime."
A little 'oh' sound is all that jungkook could let out. He has to catch up on so many things with his brother.
" I tried to reach out to you too but I couldn't."
There's sadness in his voice and Jungkook knows that feeling, he feels the same regret.
" It's not your fault, it was me who cut tie with everyone else."
That time he was afraid his parents would find him if he kept any kind of contact with his brother too.
" But I'm so happy for you hyung. Congratulations to you both."
This time he steps forward to give them both a hug, a sign to show how he has accepted them.
" There's actually one more surprise for you."
There's a different happiness in Junghyun's eyes as he says that, it makes Jungkook excited. What else could be there that would surprise him more than this?
And to say... Jungkook was definitely not prepared for the next surprise.
" Hyejin ah."
His brother calls and looks inside at the door of one room that's left ajar.
Jungkook's excitement reaches its limit as he squirm on the couch, rubbing his palm over the knees in anxiousness.
From the corner of his wavering eyes, Jungkook sees a little hand being placed on the door. And slowly he sees little eyes peeking out too.
Before it all disappear so soon that Jungkook thinks maybe he was hallucinating, until he saw a little girl finally coming out.
From under her long soft brown bangs shone eyes the colour of honey brown. Her smile was warm with a hint of shyness. Her hairs neatly tucked behind her ears, her little hands grabbing the ends of her dress.
She kept her face down to avoid the stranger's eyes, hurriedly walking towards Junghyun and hid herself in her arms.
" Your niece."
Junghyun answers Jungkook's curiousity. Jungkook's already wide eyes turned more whiter from the new revelation. H-his niece?
" Baby, say hello to Jungkook uncle."
Junghyun separates the girl from his arms, giving her a pat on her back to give her the confidence to talk to the stranger.
She finally stood up, walking with hesitant steps towards Jungkook but she stopped a few steps away from him.
" Uncle hello! "
She greets him rather enthusiastically than how she was reacting before. Maybe it's the aura that Jungkook has around him, that makes people feel comfortable in presence.
Jungkook slowly reaches out his hand, gulping the lump in his throat. He gently hold the girls little face in the palm of his hands.
" She's my niece? "
His hands shakes as he feels the girl relaxing in his touch.
" She's so cute."
He has this intense urge of squishing the little girl in his arms.
" Can I... Can I hug her? "
He asks, unsure if the girl would be comfortable with that or not.
" Of course."
Junghyun says giving Jungkook the signal.
The omega slowly wraps his arms around the little girl, not too tightly but very gently as if he was the most delicate thing in the world.
" Wow, this... this is so surreal." Jungkook says feeling these intese emotion blooming from his heart.
" Hyejin is a very shy girl but I think she feels safe in your presence."
Sangmin comments seeing how the little girl is happy in Jungkook's presence even though she doesn't like physical touch that much.
It took Junghyun and Sangmin a lot of time to help the little girl adjust into their house. She was very shy and reserved when they brought her here from the adoption home. But she has become relaxed in their presence now.
" Yeah, he's her uncle afterall."
Junghyun says feeling happy that Hyejin was finally able to meet her uncle. Since she has never met a relative from his side before.
His parents were very angry when he told them that he was going to marry an alpha. They continued to ramble how alpha and alpha relationship doesn't work and he should marry an omega who can give them a grandchild.
But Junghyun had enough of them, he had fallen in love with Sangmin when he was dealings with the sadness after Jungkook has left him. The alpha was there to take care of him and tell him encouraging words and there's no way he'd choose anyone else over him. He didn't care if he was an alpha too, all he cared about was how he loved him back.
So, he walked away from his parents house with hand in hand with Sangmin, leaving his parents screaming behind at him.
On the other hand, Sangmin's parents were very supportive of their relationship. They even took care of all the expenses of wedding, Junghyun was sad that Jungkook wasn't there for him on his special day but at least he had his friends there to cheer him up. Though they weren't able to make up for Jungkook's absence.
And on their second anniversary the topic of adopting a child came. Since they both were well settled they thought it was time to bring a little kid and extend their family.
So, after a long procedure they were able to adopt Hyejin. They had felt an immediate connection with her when they saw the little three year old and decided she would be their daughter. And that's how their beautiful family came through.
" Yeah, I'm her uncle."
Jungkook repeats letting it seep in that he's really an uncle now.
" I never thought I would get to see you again... Not until I got the phone call from an unknown number."
Junghyun says and turn to Taehyung.
But Taehyung was way too immersed in looking at Jungkook hugging the little girl in his arms with fond eyes. It reminded him of the time he hugged Yoonjun after knowing he was his nephew. He saw his spitting image in jungkook.
But then he felt eyes on him and he saw Junghyun looking at him.
" Kim Taehyung. It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."
He extended his hands, his form like the one he has while on business meeting.
" Oh, you don't need to be so formal with me, just call me hyung."
Junghyun ditched the handshake and went for a hug instead. He hugged Taehyung so tightly that the alpha almost saw stars. He comes to a conclusion that Junghyun must like working out a lot just like Jungkook.
" I can't thank you enough for what you did for me and Jungkook."
He held Taehyung's hands, he thought someone was pranking him when he got the call from Taehyung in the morning. But he decided to give it a chance and hoped it wasn't a joke.
He was restless since the morning looking at the door every minute and when the doorbell finally rang he walked with teary eyes even before he opened the door. He just felt that it was Jungkook because of their strong bond.
" I just did it for Jungkook's happiness. He missed you a lot."
He turns towards Jungkook who's now looking at him with emotional eyes. Seeing the peak happiness of Jungkook today Taehyung is glad Jimin told him about this all.
" Hyung..."
Jungkook calls for Taehyung in his soft voice.
" Thank you."
His eyes closes as he gives Taehyung a big and wide smile.
" It was Jimin who found them, you should thank him."
Taehyung doesn't know how to take a 'thank you' so he starts to get shy.
" Ahh, look at the time. I should go now or it'll get late. Jungkook ah, can stay here for as long as you like, I'll come to pick you up whenever you ask me too."
For Jungkook he's ready to become a chauffeur too, as if he hasn't become a one already.
" Taehyung ssi, you can stay the night here."
Junghyun urges but Taehyung feels like it wouldn't be a good idea. Jungkook and Junghyun met after a long time and they must have a lot to share with each other about the lost time. If he stayed here they might not feel that comfortable in his presence and he doesn't want that.
" I would love to, but I have to take care of something."
" Maybe next time."
He hopes that there would be a next time where he'd be able to come here.
" Again, thank you so much. I had lost all hope of seeing my brother again."
Junghyun hugs him once again, Taehyung can feel how relieved he is. He is happy to be the link who could reunite them.
" I'll see hyung off."
Jungkook says getting up, he puts Hyejin down and gives her a smile telling her he'll come back soon.
" Hyung.. I don't know how to thank you for everything you have done for me."
Jungkook finally decides to share his thoughts too as they stand at the entrance of the house.
" I told you, you should thank Jimin not me."
Taehyung still feels shy, so he tries to give all the credit to Jimin.
" I'll thank Jimin hyung too, but right now I wanna thank you."
Jungkook fiddles with his finger as he says that. His eyes sparkles a little too bright this time and Taehyung thinks it's because he met his brother but that's not the case.
" I was just a stranger to you but you still offered to give me a place in your house and you treated me like I was your own family."
Jungkook steps closer to Taehyung his orbs glowing because of the sun rays.
" I've never received such a warm treatment from anyone else before."
He has a blush on his cheeks as he says that, his heart feels warm thinking about all the moment he spent with the alpha and how he treated him with utmost respect. Taehyung changed his stereotypical thoughts about alphas.
" I don't know how can I ever thank you for all that..."
" Hug me."
Taehyung replies almost instantly to that making Jungkook shoot his unsteady gaze back up at the alpha. And he finds Taehyung look at him with burning passion.
" You can thank me by hugging me."
Taehyung says again, this time less intense than before. He thinks the last one came as an order but this is one like a request. Like a final request.
A request that Jungkook finds weird but he nonetheless obliges. Taehyung could have asked so many things in return but he settled for a hug.
Once Jungkook's hand wraps around his back, Taehyung feels his heart beat faster. He doesn't understand if it's because of the nervousness or the close proximity between them.
" I like you."
Taehyung breaths out the heavy words off his chest.
On hearing those words Jungkook's arms lost their grip around his back and his body went rigid in his hold.
He feels Jungkook fighting through the hold so he held the omega more tightly so, he won't be able to separate from the hug.
" Don't, I wont be able to say it all while looking into your eyes."
Jungkook stops squirming at that.
" I like you Jungkook, since the day I met you in the airport."
Taehyung feels much better after saying these words to the person he most wanted them to hear.
" It was just a crush at first but when I got to know you better, I started falling for you."
He settles for the word crush because he didn't want to weird Jungkook out by telling him how it was actually love at first sight. That too he didn't get to see his face at that time, he just fell in love with him by looking into his eyes.
" You were so different from everyone, so different yet you felt so familiar to my heart."
The deep connection and his unstoppable thumping of heart was what made Taehyung think that Jungkook was the one.
" It's like my heart only beats for you."
" And I never had this feeling for anyone else but just you."
He had dated many omegas before and a few of them were his serious relationship but he never felt this kind of connection while he was in relationship with them that he felt just by being a friend to Jungkook.
" Just you."
" Hyung..."
Jungkook whispers and Taehyung finally lets him go. Though he doesn't dare to look at his face so, he looks at Jungkook's hands instead.
" I'm not forcing you for an answer. I just.. I just wanted to take everything off my chest."
" My feelings-- they have been hurting me so I couldn't keep them inside anymore."
He didn't want to hurt himself more by keeping everything bottled up.
" I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said it at this time but you can just forget about them and pretend it never happened."
He says that Jungkook should forget but his heart wants otherwise.
" Ah, it's getting late I should probably go now."
He decides to just walk away before he gets his heart broken. Today is just not the day he want to get heart broken.
" And the offer to drive you back still exists just call me."
He forces a smile on his face to show Jungkook that he was okay, when he wasn't.
" Bye, take care."
He waved him and headed straight to his car, he didn't want to turn back or look at Jungkook right now. He was afraid he would see something he didn't want to see.
" Papa, Junie tired."
Yoonjun let the pencil slide from his hand and put his head back to the couch. He looks at his homework that still isn't complete but his energy is completely drained by now.
Jimin looks up from his office papers to see his tired child, he puts the paper away in an instant and gestured Yoonjun to come into his arms.
" Then, you should rest for some time. We'll complete the homework after dinner, okay? "
Yoonjun nods to that, closing his eyes as he lays in Jimin's embrace. He feels satisfied now. Before he had to do all the homework by himself because Yoongi was in the office and he came home late. But now he has Jimin by his side to help him.
Jimin rubs his back soothingly, thinking of taking a little nap along with Yoonjun since there's some time for Yoongi to come back and they can rest a little till then.
But his plan was all ruined when he hears the doorbell ring.
" Appa? "
Yoonjun gets out of Jimin's grasp to open the door though Jimin is not sure if it's Yoongi since the alpha had texted him earlier that he might be late today.
" Uncle tae! "
Jimin relaxes on hearing that at least it's Taehyung and not that person. But then he remembers how Taehyung was supposed to go with Jungkook then why the hell is he here?
" Hello, my little baby."
Taehyung giggles as he picks his baby up in his arms and give him a nice swing around. He felt the boy hug him a little tighter.
" Hello there my big baby."
Taehyung greets his best friend who's sraring at them with his hands crossed out in front of his chest.
" Why are you here? "
Jimin asks harshly, not because he's not happy to see Taehyung but because Taehyung is here when he should be with Jungkook instead.
" Wow! Now, I can't come here to see my nephew and best friend."
Taehyung puts Yoonjun down so he could act dramatically.
" Tae.."
" Atleast invite me inside first."
Jimin huffs at that, his best friend was never an easy person to talk with.
" So, what's the, reason? "
He asks now that Taehyung was finally sitted on the couch. He's so desperate for answers that he didn't asks Taehyung for something to drink.
" I just missed Junie a lot."
Jimin rolled his eyes at that, knowing well that's not the main reason.
" Junie missed Taetae too."
The boy hugs Taehyung again, he's been sitting on Taehyung's lap and it makes it harder for them to have a conversation.
" Jun ah, isn't it time for your favourite show? "
Jimin uses the show as an excuse to make yoonjun go away for a while so they could chat.
" Oh, no. Junie forgot."
Yoonjun looks at the clock and then hurried towards the TV to turn it on.
With Yoonjun gone Jimin turns to Taehyung with narrow eyes to get his answers.
" Now, tell me the truth. What happened? Why are you here instead of being with Jungkook ? "
Taehyung doesn't immediately replied to the question, instead he closed his eyes and relaxed back on the couch. His back aches after driving for so long.
But he couldn't relax because he could feel Jimin's piercing gaze on his body.
" I dropped jungkook off there and came back. Things were hectic there so I thought it'd be better for me to come back."
" Jungkook is okay right? "
Jimin starts to worry now, he had made plans with Taehyung to surprise Jungkook by taking him to his brother but he didn't think how it might affect the omega. He thinks he should have asked Jungkook before doing all this.
" More than okay. He is an uncle."
Taehyung adds a smile at the end.
" Oh, wow. That must have been so surprising for him."
Jimin starts to correlate Jungkook's situation to his own. He thinks Jungkook's reaction might have been similar to Taehyung's.
" You should have seen the way his eyes popped out after that."
They both laughed at that, it isn't exactly hard to imagine that expression on Jungkook.
" There's something else too. What is it? "
Jimin senses that that's not the only thing that taehyung would come here for. There should be something else too.
" I told him I like him."
" WHAT? "
Jimin shouts, because this wasn't in their plan. Taehyung hadn't informed him about this beforehand.
His sudden scream shocked Taehyung, even Yoonjun got scared by his sudden shout.
" Sorry baby."
He apologies to Yoonjun before turning over to face Taehyung again.
" What? "
This time he shouts in lower case.
" Then how did he react? What did he say? "
Jimin's nervousness increases as Taehyung doesn't answer him.
" He didn't say anything."
" He must have been too shocked by all the things."
Jimin tries to imagine himself in jungkook's place. Jungkook is a shy introverted kinda person so, he thinks the omega would have reacted that exact way.
" But I thought my feelings were obvious."
Taehyung pouts, he was actually expecting jungkook to say 'I already know' or something like that. Because of how clear he made his feelings.
" Maybe you weren't obvious enough."
Jimin giggles but soon stops on seeing the worried expression on Taehyung's face.
" Chim, I'm afraid this was our last meeting. It felt like a goodbye to me."
Taehyung voices out his thoughts that he was too afraid to admit before to himself, but he can now in Jimin's presence.
" Why are you saying such things? "
Jimin couldn't understand the sudden change of emotions in Taehyung.
" He found his brother again and I think he'd choose to live with him instead."
He doesn't have a chance in front of his brother does he? Afterall Jungkook decided to live with him because he was alone but now that he have his family by his side, it's high unlikely he'd come back to live with with him.
" Of course, he'd want to live with him, there's so much to catch up on... and I fear the only time I'll see him again would be when he comes to take his things away."
That's all that he thought about while driving here. It was crazy how he even managed to keep himself calm while driving.
" Tae, why are you thinking about such things? Maybe he'd want to continue living with you."
Taehyung let's out a sigh at that, he knows his best friend would try to comfort him right now. But he's in dilemma what should he do? Hold on to that false hope or face the harsh reality?
" That's highly unlikely. He'd never choose a stranger over his brother."
" You aren't a stranger to him."
Jimin says in a strict tone. And it almost reminded Taehyung of the time Jungkook got angry at him when he called himself a bad friend.
A smile comes on his lips as he thought about that time.
" I'm going to live here at your house for some time. Do you mind? "
Taehyung changes the topic, probably because he thinks it'd be better to avoid the conversation for the time being. And he thinks it'd be a bad idea for him to stay at his house where all he would have on his mind would be Jungkook. At least living here he could have a change of thoughts.
" Yes, I do mind."
" Then keep minding because I'll not change my mind."
Taehyung pokes his tongue out at him before getting up from the couch.
" Jun ah, your uncle will stay here with you for some time."
He walks and picks Yoonjun up in his arms from behind.
" Really? Junie is very happy."
He hugs him dearly making Taehyung smile, oh how relaxed he feeled in his nephew's hold. He thinks Yoonjun can be his official cuddle buddy instead of Jimin now. Since Jimin has Yoongi now.
" Isn't your appa usually home by now? "
Taehyung remembers the time, since whenever he and Jimin were on call the omega would hang up after Yoongi came back, it didn't matter if they were in middle of an important conversation too.
" An urget work came up. He said he'd be late."
Jimin picks up his specs again, he can finish the rest of the work while those two play.
" Such a diligent guy."
" So, why don't you cook something good for him ? "
Jimin looks up at his best friend through his glasses.
" You're seriously asking me that? "
" Oops, I forgot you can't cook."
He and Yoonjun starts laughing at that, making jimin roll his eyes. His best friend is really spoiling his baby too much, but as if he he can do something about it.
"Jun ah, tell me what do you want to eat. Today I will cook for you."
The boy got really excited at that, since he didn't get to try Taehyung's cooking before and he had heard from Jimin that his uncle is a great cook.
" Gimbap! "
He replies after thinking hard to decide on one thing.
" Fine let's make it then. Will you help me in the kitchen? "
" Yes! "
" Okay, let's go."
Jimin puts down his paper again, getting up to help them.
" Where are you coming? You aren't allowed. It's only uncle Taetae and Junie."
Taehyung says seeing Jimin getting up from his seat. He didn't want Jimin to stop his work and more so because he didn't want Jimin to help him since he'd only make a bigger mess.
" Meanie."
Jimin puffs up his cheeks, but his son and best friend only laugh at him.
But as soon as Taehyung and Yoonjun goes away from there Jimin's frown is replaced by a smile. He feels delighted to see how his son has can not only lift up his mood but even Taehyung's too.
Taehyung's fake smile is now replaced by a real smile and it's all thanks to his son.
Yoonjun is really the light of their lives and Jimin feels how lost he would have been if his baby never came into his life. But fortunately that's not the case, and everything is so much better with Yoonjun's present.
Now, the only thing Jimin wish for is for his best friend to get his own happiness.
