With an irritated flick of my skirt, I took the center seat.
"Hello everyone, I'm Miranda - the main character of this whole mess. By now I'm sure you've all heard my story! My mother's currently sitting in a jail cell waiting for trial!" I flashed a smile as the live chat exploded with comments.
[This woman's insane! Shouldn't she be apologizing? Look at that attitude!]
[She's definitely lost it. Did you see how she smiled talking about her mom in jail?]
[How can someone wear full makeup like nothing's wrong after losing her child and sister? Unbelievable.]
Ignoring the hate, I continued. "I'm here today to set the record straight. Everything you've heard is true. I never wanted to save Marianne, and I certainly didn't want Andrew's baby - that's why I scheduled the abortion."
The room erupted.
"She's actually admitting it?"
"Andrew was right - she's pure evil."
"How can you sit there so calmly with two lives on your conscience?"
Andrew smirked, pleased with how things were going as his team strategically placed product placements. But I wasn't done. "Because I discovered something... a massive secret."
Pulling out my phone, I played damning footage of Andrew and my parents plotting in his office about extracting the baby from my womb. Next came screenshots of our messages - proof of how Andrew manipulated my feelings to turn me into nothing more than a living incubator for Marianne's treatment.
The crowd gasped.
"This family just destroyed my faith in humanity. What kind of monsters are they?"
"No wonder Miranda aborted the baby. Imagine growing up knowing you were born just to be medicine."
"Starting to feel really bad for Miranda now..."
Andrew lunged forward in panic, but security held him back. Nobody was letting him interrupt this bombshell revelation.
I then showed home surveillance footage of them restraining and dragging me to the hospital, followed by OR footage I'd obtained through a settlement agreement. Even now, watching my own torture made me shudder.
"This isn't human behavior! Miranda must have been terrified!"
"My blood runs cold watching this. And these people had the nerve to blame her? They deserve worse than jail."
"Lock them all up and throw away the key!"
Finally, I revealed the smoking gun - a DNA test. "I always wondered why my parents never loved me. This test showed why - I wasn't their child at all."
"I'm actually the daughter of Mark Garfield's friend. After my real parents died in a car accident, he took me in for my inheritance. He used that money to build his life in the city while abandoning me in the countryside." If I hadn't investigated, I'd still be living that lie.
The press conference ended with the full truth exposed. I legally severed ties with Mark and pressed charges. He got five years; his wife got nine. Andrew's company collapsed, leaving him a crazed homeless man who'd accost strangers, begging, "Have you seen my wife and kids?"
After everything, love was dead to me. These days it's just me, my rescue dog, and my travel vlog - finally living life on my own terms.
