The phone was on speaker, and the words rang out, sharp and final, for everyone in the room to hear.
Kevin's grip on Valentina's throat tightened—his knuckles white with fury.
"You lied to me? Every damn time?! You tried to take Ria's place…" With every accusation, his fingers dug deeper. "Tell me—was Ria's car accident your doing?!"
Valentina had planned to play the victim, but with the evidence stacked against her and Kevin's murderous rage, she knew the game was over.
A cold dread slithered down her spine. "You want the truth?" she choked out. "Then let go of me first!"
Kevin released her, and she crumpled to the floor, gasping, her hands clawing at her bruised throat as violent coughs wracked her body.
Across the room, Mr. and Mrs. Cortez stood frozen, the surveillance footage still burning behind their eyes. Their perfect daughter—capable of this?
Their shock twisted into fury.
"Tina, why?! Ria was your sister!" her mother cried.
Valentina pushed herself up on trembling arms, her lips curling into a mocking smirk. "Oh, now she's my sister?" Her voice dripped with venom. "You want to know how she really died?"
Her gaze raked over them—the people who once promised her the world. Now, all she saw was revulsion.
Hysteria clawed its way up her throat. "You killed her! All of you!"
"I just said Damian was handsome, and what did you do, Kev? You ruined Valeria! Drugged him, forced me to fake a damn sex tape—just so you could steal her fiancé for me!"
A bitter laugh tore from her lips.
"That's right—Damian never touched me. I lied. But who cared? None of you bothered to check! You poisoned her, stole her voice, left her to rot—and now you have the nerve to act shocked?!"
The room went dead silent. Faces drained of color.
Valentina locked eyes with Kevin, her stare burning with hatred.
"And you—do you even hear yourself? Some 'enemy' bribed a doctor to pour acid down her throat, gut her alive? You think Valeria would've believed that insane bullshit?!"
Rage exploded. She hurled her arm across the table—glass shattered, porcelain flew, the crash echoing like gunfire.
"You killed her! Isn't that enough?! Now you want to kill me too?!"
SLAP!
Her father's hand struck like a whip. Her mother collapsed, sobbing. "This is our punishment… We never should've brought you back! Ria would still be alive!"
Kevin—the man who'd worshipped her—stood motionless, his voice a broken whisper. "I killed her…"
Valentina laughed.
And laughed.
Then—she shattered.
Look at them. They'd lost Valeria as a child and blamed her—another little girl—for it. Now, with Valeria gone, they needed a monster to hate.
And so what? Valeria was dead.
Her sobs twisted into something manic, her smile unhinged. "Valeria's gone. I'm all you have left."
"From now on, I'm both. Everything you owed her, everything you owe me—you'll pay it back. Double."
Kevin's voice cut through the air like steel.
"Never."
Grief had hardened into something colder.
"No one replaces Ria. Especially not you. You killed her. And I'll make sure you burn for it."
He yanked out his phone—police. Now.
Valentina lunged, desperate—
But he was faster.
A brutal shove sent her reeling—
CRACK.
The edge of the table met her skull.
A gasp.
Then—silence.
Blood pooled beneath her.
