The room fell into stunned silence, every pair of eyes locked on Dylan in disbelief.
Maybe my unwavering conviction finally made them question everything.
Dylan trembled slightly, putting on a wounded act. "Ryan, when have I ever framed you? It was... you..." He forced out a few tears, playing the victim perfectly.
Luna instantly pulled him into a protective embrace. "Dylan, don't cry. We all know who you really are. No matter what Ryan says, none of us believe him."
Bella awkwardly chimed in, "Yeah, don't be upset. I'll always stand by you."
Violet stepped forward, glaring daggers at me. "Ryan, apologize to Dylan right now. You made him cry. If you ever accuse him again, you'll regret it."
I let out a bitter laugh. "This is the explanation you wanted. You won't believe a word I say, so go ahead—assume I framed him. I've caused poor, precious Dylan so much suffering. Why don't you just kill me right now? I'm right here. Do it."
The air in the hospital room turned thick with tension. Guilt flickered across their faces, and they couldn't meet my eyes.
Only Dylan and Eliana held my gaze.
Dylan looked down at me, his eyes dripping with mockery.
Eliana bit her lip, hesitating before finally speaking. "I believe you, Ryan. Don't talk like that. If you're upset, I'll take you home. We can get married, okay?"
The room erupted in shock.
For a moment, I was speechless, warmth flooding my chest. "Okay. Let's go home."
Soon after, Eliana arranged my discharge and took me back.
I wanted to ask her what had really happened, but she insisted I rest first.
As I drifted off, I faintly overheard her phone conversation with Bella.
Bella's voice was sharp. "You're really bringing Ryan home? What if he finds out you were the one who leaked his info online—that you're the reason Luna hunted him down? What then?"
Eliana's reply was quiet but firm. "It doesn't matter. I've already given myself to him. As long as he doesn't interfere with Dylan's happiness, I'll do whatever it takes. He saved me in that car accident. I can't marry him, but I won't abandon him." Her voice cracked with regret.
My eyes flew open, tears burning down my face as I watched her through the doorway.
So even Eliana is on Dylan's side? But I was the one who pulled her from that wreck. Why does she think it was him? She's the reason Luna found me. The reason I was tortured.
She only brought me home to keep me from ruining Dylan's wedding. How could she?
A cold numbness spread through my body.
Then—the door slammed open.
Luna strode in, icy and commanding, the others trailing behind.
Eliana whirled on her. "What are you doing here?"
Luna smirked. "I'm taking Ryan back."
"Why? You already have Dylan. If you want Ryan, then give Dylan back to me!" Eliana grabbed Luna's sleeve, desperation in her voice.
Luna scoffed. "Dylan's marrying me. Hand him over? Never. But I don't trust you to keep Ryan in line. What if he crashes my wedding? No—he's safer locked up. Once the wedding's over, you can have him back."
She gave Eliana a look of pure triumph.
Eliana's breath came fast, fury twisting her face before she finally sneered. "Fine. Then ask Ryan if he'll even go with you. After everything you've done to him, why would he ever choose you?"
"I will," I said, stepping forward.
Eliana spun toward me, panic flashing in her eyes. "Ryan? How long have you been awake?"
I smiled bitterly. "Long enough. You don't have to pretend anymore, Eliana. I heard everything. Yeah, they tortured me. I hate them. But right now? I hate you more. I actually thought you were my salvation. Physical pain is nothing compared to this."
I turned away, my voice hollow. "We're even. From now on, we're strangers."
Without another glance, I followed Luna back to that dark little room—the place where my life would end.
