Stomp.
Crack.
Beeping.
Ringing.
Tears. Streaming. Cheeks. Wet. Ears. Ringing.
I'm tired.
"You will never be like us."
"Let's see how you can hear n—"
"STOP!" Izuku jolted up, propping himself up on his bed.
He breathed heavily, feeling his ears for a moment, his touch shaky. He couldn't hear anything. He needed fresh air. He needed to leave.
After a few moments of calming down, he finally opened the door, where he was met with a worried Ochako.
"Deku! Are you okay?? Thank goodness you finally opened the door. I heard you scream and got worried, so I decided to check on you. I've knocked so many times!" She sounded really worried, however, he still couldn't understand anything she said. She spoke too fast.
"Sor— Sorry, what... what did you say?" Izuku looked stressed, he pushed his hair back.
"I heard you scream, I tried knocking in the door, but you didn't open. Did you hear me? Are you okay?" She asked again.
Izuku nodded shakily, sighing. "Yeah... Uh, yeah I'm fine. Sorry."
"Are you sure?" Ochako couldn't push away the feeling of something bad happening.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He reassured.
"Where's Kacchan, by the way?" Izuku asked, looking over at his brown haired friend. He sat down in his seat in class, while Uraraka leaned against his table. She would've sat on his table, but Iida wouldn't have liked that.
"Oh, he's sick."
"Ah, okay." Izuku nodded, then looked at her, shocked. "Wait, sick? Kacchan? Sick??" He asked in a surprised tone.
"Yeah, sick." she shrugged, "Anyway—"
"Wait, no." Izuku shook his head, frowning. "I mean, is he okay? What happened to him? How bad is it? What's his temperature? What—"
"Izuku. Calm down." Ochako pat his shoulders. "He's fine, Izuku. Kirishima checked on him before he left."
"But it's Kacchan... I... I need to go check on him. I need to go, now." Izuku got up from his seat, about to leave, only to be stopped by their home room teacher, Aizawa. "Sorry, kid, but whatever you were planning to do, it'll have to wait."
Izuku squinted to read his lips for a moment, then shook his head after processing the information. "Sensei, Kacchan, he's—" But before he could finish, Aizawa placed his hand on Izuku's shoulder, making him pause.
"I'm well aware of his condition. I got informed earlier and just came back from checking on him." Aizawa sighed. "Go sit back in your seat."
Izuku sighed, still not being able to shake off the worry from his mind. "How does everyone know about him but me?" He asked himself under his breath.
Lunch wasn't the best, either.
Izuku kept picking at the salmon he had received with the rice and soup he had gotten from the school cafeteria.
"Has anyone heard from Kacchan yet?" He asked all of his from his table.
Everyone shook their heads as a no. "We're not that close to him, Midoriya. If anything, he'd tell Kirishima or something." Tsuyu told him.
"Right. Of course." He huffed, stabbing his bowl of rice with his chopsticks.
Eventually, he couldn't take it anymore, and stood up.
"What are you doing, Midoriya?" Iida asked, looking up at Izuku.
"I'm koing to ko check on him real quick." Izuku read his lips before he answered.
Iida was about to protest when he heard him strangely mispronounce the words "going" and "go." However, he didn't think much about it.
"I'm sorry Midoriya, but the dormitories are a 10 minute walk away. We have 20 minutes of lunch left. You can't come back in time."
But before Iida could finish, Izuku had already started walking.
"Midoriya! Midoriya, come back!" Iida yelled, but it was like Izuku couldn't hear.
Izuku walked as quickly as he could. He knew the blond was probably fine on his own, but it bugged him a lot. Especially because he didn't get to see him in the morning either.
He told himself that he'd take just a glimpse. Just one glimpse at him, then leave in time for class.
"Kacch—" Izuku walked in, then noticed the blond had been sleeping. "Ah."
His eyes softened at the sight in front of him, he made him way to the blond's bed, sitting by his feet, taking in the sight for a moment.
Katsuki looked calm, probably one of the rare times he had seen him not scowling, frowning, or yelling at anyone.
He wondered how Kirishima had even managed to keep the blond in the dormitory. Katsuki would the type of person to not give a fuck, and go to class anyway.
Izuku leaned over and felt his forehead for a moment, after realizing that it was way too hot, he went over to the bathroom to soak a small cloth in cold water.
He returned with a small bowl of cold water, and a wet cloth. He made sure to drain the excess water out of the towel before folding it and gently placing it on the blond's hot forehead.
Katsuki felt a chill down his forehead, it was cold and wet. He let out a groan before stirring a little, opening his eyes. "Deku? The fuck are you doing here?" But Izuku didn't seem to hear him.
"Deku," He shook the green haired boy's forearm. "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be in class."
Izuku finally looked at him, reading his lips, it was hard to decipher as the blond seemed to be mumbling a bit.
"Oh, uh, I came to check."
"On your own?" Katsuki raised a brow.
"Sensei sent me." He lied.
"You're bad at lying." Katsuki scoffed.
"How'd you know I was lying?"
"Like that. You literally just confirmed you lied." Katsuki rolled his eyes.
"What— No! Just— nevermind." Izuku sighed.
"Go, Deku. You'll miss class." Katsuki mumbled, ah, his head was starting to hurt like hell. He closed his eyes in pain.
When he got no response in return, he was about to open his eyes to see what had happened, when he felt a hand take off the cloth on his forehead, and massage his head.
Katsuki let out a sigh of relief, the headache easing up a little. "Leave, Deku." He mumbled. "Our teacher's gonna blame me 'cause you're absent." He's so good at massaging.
"You need help." Izuku replied.
"If that old man blames me, you're done." Katsuki murmurs, starting to feel himself get drowsy.
Izuku laughed. "I'll hold you to that."
Katsuki had fallen asleep, so he didn't respond.
"And why are you almost an hour late, Midoriya?" Aizawa raised a brow, already knowing the answer, but he chose to hear it from him.
"I- Uh, bathroom." Izuku said quickly.
Aizawa let out a sigh, tired of the stuff he's been put through. "I don't get paid enough for this." he muttered, covering his face with his hand. "I'll have a talk with you later, Go sit down." Aizawa turned back to the board.
Now, due to this, Izuku had no idea what Aizawa had said, so he just awkwardly stood there by the door, hoping Aizawa would repeat himself.
Aizawa looked at him, raising a brow. "Why are you still standing there?"
Izuku swallowed thickly. "Oh, uhm, you see—"
"Go sit down."
"Got it." Izuku headed straight for his seat.
"So, how did that check on your boyfriend go?" Ochako asked, giggling. Izuku's eyes shot wide as he read her lips. "Sorry, what?" He asked, hoping he had read her right. "How did the check on Bakugo go?" She repeated herself, raising her brow.
Izuku burst out laughing. "Oh my goodness, for a second there, I thought you said boyfriend, haha!" He pat her shoulder while laughing. "You're really funny, Uraraka." He grinned.
"Oh, I did say boyfriend." Ochako confirmed. Izuku's smile dropped. "Oh." He felt his cheek warm just from the thought of it. Focus, Izuku!
The greenette cleared his throat. "That's funny, uhm, he's not my boyfriend." He grinned, "And— He was asleep."
"Aw man, so nothing happened?" Ochako huffed, then Deku shook his head. "Nope." His smile dropped. "Wait, was something supposed to happen?" He perked up.
Before Ochako could change the topic, Izuku saw a familiar face. He could recognize that face anywhere. It's the face of the one who tortured all of his years at school, after all.
He hated that blond with all of his heart. For the way he made him feel, for the way he made his closest friends into his worst enemies, for the way he had made his life a living hell, so much so, he had no longer once felt he was worthy enough to live.
Suddenly he stopped walking, Vibrations of the guy's feet were felt under Izuku's own. That face...
Izuku immediately turned around, hiding his own.
"Please— l-let go,"
Izuku grunted in pain, feeling the blond's fingers dig into his hair, pushing him against the wall. His head smashed against the concrete wall, making a small crack on one of his hearing aids.
"Gah!" Izuku yelled in pain, hearing a small static, crackling like noise in one of his ears.
The blond laughed. "You want to be like us so bad."
Izuku pressed both his hands together, fingers pointing up, in a pleading motion. "P-Please."
"—eku! Deku!" Ochako shook his shoulders. Izuku finally snapped out it, his gaze redirecting to her lips to read it. "Deku, can you hear me!?" She looked worried out of her mind, watching the greenette closely.
Izuku let out a shaky breath. "Where— where is he?"
"Where is who? Who are you talking about?" Uraraka asked, clearly still worried.
"We need to leave, Uraraka. Can we go some place more private? P-Please." To this, the girl nodded immediately, wanting to comfort him as soon as possible.
"Alright. But I need you to tell me whatever's going on with you these days. I'm worried about you."
Izuku nodded, letting out a breath of relief.
