                    Kamal’s House – Late Night
Kamal lay on his bed. No smile on his face, no tears — just a silence heavy with unanswered questions. The bruises from the beating still hurt, but the blow to his heart — being separated from Zuhra — was a wound no medicine could heal.
Kamal (staring at the ceiling):
"Did I tell her the truth? Or… did I just come too close, too soon?"
He turned and looked at the window, the stillness pressing down on him. He touched the side of his head where he had been injured.
Kamal (with a broken voice):
"But she stayed… she listened… she laughed…"
He dropped his phone to the side, as though he’d finally grown tired of waiting for a message or call that would never come.
At School – Library
Zuhra held a book, but her eyes weren’t reading. Across the room, Munir entered the library, trying to walk past her without saying anything. She glanced at him, her chest tightening.
Zuhra (to herself):
"Don’t ask. Don’t show your worry… John and Usman are everywhere. And exams have already started."
She closed her eyes briefly and sighed. Yet deep inside, a small voice whispered:
"I just want to know if he’s okay…"
Brigadier Imran’s House – Night
John and Usman stood at the gate, chatting in hushed tones.
Usman:
"Wallahi, I don’t feel good about what happened. The beating they gave him was no small matter."
John:
"You know as well as I do — the orders came from above. Ask questions, and you’ll get your share of punches too."
Usman (frustrated):
"But I feel like we crossed the line of being soldiers… this was someone’s heart we were told to break."
Munir’s House – Later
Munir walked into Kamal’s room with some medicine and water. Kamal glanced at him but then turned away, clearly not in the mood to talk.
Munir (gently):
"Even if your heart was made of iron, I know you're hurting… and there’s no shame in that. Losing someone hurts. But you’re not the only one feeling it."
Kamal:
"But what about her? I saw it in her eyes… she was asking, but I didn’t know how to answer."
Munir:
"You don’t need to say anything. If it’s real love… she’ll come back. But you’ll need to be patient. Your body needs healing too."
Zuhra’s Room – Night
She opened her diary and wrote with a blue pen:
“I’ve lost him. It feels like a part of my soul has gone silent. But I don’t know why I feel… like he feels it too.
Kamal… even though I don’t even know your real name yet, my heart hears you.”
