Zuhra’s House – Study Time (2)
The next morning, Zuhra woke up very early. She quickly packed her school bag, her heart filled with hope and renewed determination because of Rushna’s promise. She left the house thinking about how best to use this opportunity to get help before the exam.
At school, she met Rushna in the reading room. They sat close to each other, and Rushna began teaching Zuhra the topics she had struggled to understand. She used different methods to explain the subjects, giving simple and clear examples. Zuhra listened attentively, asking questions and taking notes in her notebook.
When they finished, Zuhra felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders. She sincerely thanked Rushna, feeling more enlightened and better prepared for the exams.
Yet, her heart remained in turmoil. Her thoughts about Kamal and the budding love she had begun to feel kept growing stronger. She felt as though something big was approaching — something that could change her life entirely.
At home, her father, Brigadier Imran, sat reading a newspaper. He noticed the change in his daughter’s behavior, and his heart was filled with concern and hope — praying Zuhra would succeed but also hoping she’d stay focused and not waste time.
As the day drew to an end, Zuhra sat in her study room, afraid of what the future might hold, yet full of hope and determination.
She studied hard, reading and writing, though her heart kept drifting toward thoughts of Kamal. Still, she knew she had to focus on her exams — she couldn’t let her father’s hopes and her future fall apart.
Then her phone rang. She looked down and saw a message from Kamal:
> “Zuhra… I hope you’re doing well. I know I don’t deserve to hear your voice, but if there’s still a small space in your heart… let me say this: I haven’t forgotten you.”
Zuhra froze. Her heart thumped hard. But she said nothing. She deleted the message and returned her attention to her studies, trying to succeed in her exams before falling deeper into the confusion of love.
In her heart, she made a silent vow: she would not allow love to stop her from reaching her goals — even if it was one of the things currently tearing her soul apart.
