Gera Coursine – VIP Section – 9:08 PM
Munir stepped aside, adjusting the serviettes and lighted garden decor. Kamal stood in front of the mirror, checking his reflection. Deep inside, he felt her presence — not certainty, but something powerful whispered: “She’s here.”
She entered.
Zuhra.
Wearing her hospital uniform and a light brown hijab. Her eyes were lowered, but her heart was visible on her face.
Kamal turned around. Munir noticed and nodded silently, leaving them alone.
Kamal stepped forward. A soft silence fell over the room — as though both their heartbeats were waiting to be heard.
> “Thank you for coming,” he said gently.
Zuhra looked up and met his eyes. Tears welled up in hers before she even noticed.
> “I must have read your message twenty times before coming,” she replied.
Kamal took a step closer.
> “I know I’ve made mistakes. But tonight, I’m not asking for forgiveness — not even anything else. Just this… seeing you… it’s enough.”
Zuhra was quiet for a moment. Then she gave a small smile.
> “I’ve been running away from my heart… but it always brings me back to you.”
Kamal held her palm. He hadn’t touched her since the open mic. Her hand was cold, but the throb of her pulse — it was alive, and it was beating for him.
> “Zuhra,” he whispered, looking deep into her eyes, “I won’t force you into anything. But tell me one thing… do you still love me?”
Zuhra looked down, slowly tracing her fingers. Then she looked back up at him, as if she was bathing in his gaze.
> “Kamal… you are my place.”
He stared at her. Without moving too fast, he leaned in gently, remembering every word she’d ever spoken. Then he whispered:
> “I’ve lost the words to express the voice of my heart…”
She placed her hand over his chest.
> “You don’t need to speak. I already understand.”
And they embraced.
Hospital – Nurses' Station – 9:30 PM
The phone rang. Dr. Lukman had returned from the emergency ward. He checked the chart of the elderly patient Zuhra was assigned to. His eyes landed on:
> Next GTN: 7:30 PM – Given by: _______
No signature. No note. He searched for Zuhra — not in the patient’s room. Not in the lounge.
He opened the nurses’ log book. No entry.
He picked up his phone and called her. Ringing.
No answer.
Again. Twice. Three times. Four.
Gera Coursine – 9:42 PM
Zuhra’s phone lay inside her bag beneath the chair. It vibrated. Rang again. No one noticed.
Kamal held her hand. They laughed through tears, whispered secrets. The world had faded — time forgotten — responsibilities blurred.
Love blinded her timing.
Hospital – 9:55 PM
A nurse entered the old man’s room. His body was cold.
She called for help.
Dr. Lukman rushed in and checked his pulse.
> “Code blue! Bring the crash cart — he’s gone into cardiac arrest!”
He glanced at the GTN schedule.
> “Over an hour late without the tablet…”
He muttered grimly:
> “The registrar on duty will face immediate disciplinary action. This is a serious medical error.”
