Jungkook and his mother chat about this and that at dinner after which he went to his room to finally relax. He still hadn't heard from Jimin so he thought of dropping him a text before going to sleep. A call might be unpleasant because who knows what type of atmosphere was there at the time. The thought of Jimin blushing in front of Yoongi and playing with the hem of his shirt, like he did when Yoongi came to pick him up, made him giggle. He got his phone out and punched in a few words for Jimin. Then he dropped the phone on the bed and went for a change of clothes and to brush his teeth.
When he returned, no message or call was there so he just laughed a little to himself thinking about the things he would say to Jimin the next day, to tease him.
------
Jungkook woke up to his alarm and got ready quickly before going to the kitchen for breakfast.
"Morning, bunny."
Jungkook glared at her playfully for the nickname as he settled in his chair.
"Last time I checked I wasn't four anymore."
Mrs. Jeon laughed at the sarcasm.
"Well, the last time I checked, you were still my baby boy."
This time Jungkook laughed at the reply.
His morning was jolly which was a good start for the day. After he was done, he quickly pecked his mom on the cheek before leaving the house for school. He checked his phone on the way. Still no sign of Jimin's reply. He thought Jimin was still with Yoongi if he wasn't replying, as there didn't seem to be any other reason possible. Jungkook laughed lightly to himself again as he made his way to his school. He had so much piled up to take out on Jimin, now. He won't leave the boy alone when he would finally see him.
------
The entire day neither did Jimin show up nor did he reply to Jungkook's calls and texts. Even though Jungkook tried to shrug it off like he did last night and that morning, he was a little sad now. Even if Jimin was having fun, it wasn't like him to completely ignore his phone, especially if it's Jungkook who's trying to reach to him. Jungkook let it slide again thinking that he shouldn't bother Jimin when he was finally having the time of his life. What a coincidence that he didn't get any call or text from his new friends, that day, either.
Jungkook dragged himself to home and went directly to his room. When he entered his room, he just tossed his bag on the table and slumped in his seat. His life was boring again. It was just two days ago that he met his new friends and those two days had been so much fun. Before that, he had Jimin to brighten his days.
Now, two days later, neither does he have Jimin nor his new friends to hang out with. (He still has them, he just doesn't want to be the first one to take a step towards them, otherwise, they live only two block next to him). The wave of joy came and left very quickly. Too quick for Jungkook's liking. And because it was that fast, he was now alone all of a sudden. He didn't want a crowd but he didn't want to get rid of a few people in his circle, out, either.
The past few days felt like he was riding a roller coaster that had just gone to the top of the track building up his suspense and thrill. And right when he was ready for an equally thrilling, if not more, ride down, it got stuck on the top. Now he had to wait till someone pushed it forward or he might have to stay stuck for a long time. Or maybe, long enough that he would get bored and get off and climb down on his own, leaving it behind.
Jungkook was still lost in his thoughts about how his life got shuffled and then came to a still in a few days until his eyes drooped and he slowly drifted to sleep. He didn't even change his clothes nor did he bother to set an alarm to wake up later. Homework didn't even cross hi mind. He was too pouty to do anything.
When his mother came to check on him, Jungkook was fast asleep. He had his body sprawled out on the small chair with one arm dangling on the arm of the chair, legs open, body leaned back completely and slightly bent in an uncomfortable position, his neck resting back on the table behind him and mouth slightly open. She took out her phone and snapped a photo of him before waking him up by gently shaking his shoulder.
"Kookie, honey wake up for dinner, will you?" Her voice was sweet and soft.
Jungkook groaned as he shifted to find a more comfortable position. His mother shook him again and tickled him this time. He swatted his hand to get rid of the disturbance, as he mumbled a slurred
"Jimin, go away."
His mother sniffled her laughter before speaking.
"Jimin isn't here Jungkook, it's your mother."
The realization hit him as he recognized the voice and bolted up.
"Oh, um, sorry, I.." He got lost due to lack of words.
Mrs. Jeon just giggled.
"Don't worry too much about everything like that. I just woke you up for dinner. You slept without eating."
Jungkook nod his head and said a small 'okay'. When his mother left, he silently went to the bathroom to wash up before going to the kitchen. When he met his mother at the table, she could tell he wasn't feeling very cheerful.
"Where's Jimin? I can't believe he was able to stay away from you for this long." She laughed a little in an attempt to cheer her son. Jungkook just smiled at her, as usual, and played it off.
"He had a lot to work on. So there wasn't much of a choice." He laughed to make it more convincing. Mrs. Jeon understood and didn't pry more than that. After they were done Jungkook excused himself and went straight to bed. He couldn't sleep, however.
After twisting and turning for a while he picked his phone again and went through his contacts. Hopefully, there would be at least one name there that he could pick and talk to. When his eyes landed on a certain name he paused.
Taehyung.
A name and person who had been giving him weird feelings and vibes. Someone he didn't even know how to respond to, at times. Someone very different yet very.. attractive. Wait, he did not just think that. Jungkook instantly shook his head and decided that he needed to occupy his mind since it was wandering in awkward directions right now. And for that, doing his homework was the best option. It was a great distraction, plus, he could get some of his work done.
So, he spread his books and planner and a few pens on the bed before settling in the centre of all that mess. He opened the first and picked the pen as he skimmed through the text. He had just reached the third line when a certain someone's box smile popped up in his mind. He shook himself and tried again to concentrate but after a few words the stern gaze of the same person appeared in front of his eyes. Jungkook groaned in frustration and tugged at his hair. This wasn't right. Why was this happening to him? Maybe he should start with something else. Pushing the one in front of him aside he pulled another book randomly and furiously opened it.
For a while, he was able to work out some problems and he was finally relieved to see that things were finally going smoothly. That is, until his phone rang. He glared at the object lying next to him with extreme irritation. When his eyes scanned the name he rolled his eyes so hard he could swear he saw his brain.
Of course, it was Taehyung.
Why was he thinking about this guy so much, in the first place? Does this make sense? No, absolutely not. So why was he doing so. His phone was screaming all the while so he pushed his thoughts aside and finally let the poor thing out of it's misery.
"Hello." His voice was calm, completely opposite of the irritation he was feeling and he couldn't even understand why Taehyung made him feel so annoyed, anyway.
"Hi. Its Taehyung, in case you don't have my number." Taehyung chirped from the other side.
"Um, yes, I do have it. You gave it to me only yesterday." Taehyung's deep voice was doing something to Jungkook. He was feeling the same thing again. That weird sensation. He just wanted to hang up on him so badly but he couldn't be rude to him, just like that. He had no reason to be.
"Ok cool. So, we found something out, today." He sounded defensive.
"Ookayy." Jungkook became careful himself, as well.
Silence.
Jungkook pulled his phone away and in front of his face to see if the call had ended. It was still connected but there was no sound.
"Hello?"
Jungkook thought about hanging up himself when he waited for a whole minute and still couldn't hear anything.
"YOU LIVE SO CLOSE TO TAE'S HOUSE!" Hoseok suddenly screamed and nearly made Jungkook deaf. He pulled his head away from his phone immediately to avoid full impact. But more important than that was the dread that fell upon him. Now that they knew where he lived they would be barging in at any moment. Jungkook quickly rushed towards the window to see any sign of two knuckle heads making their way to his house. He released a sigh of relief when he found none.
"Um, yeah." He tried to come up with an excuse but he wasn't given a chance, which wasn't new, now.
"We are coming in five." Taehyung said as he hung up without letting Jungkook utter a single word, again.
/I knew it./
After the call ended, Jungkook kept standing by the window, phone still in his hand as he stared into the screen, hard. After having a long staring contest with his phone, he thought he better get ready for a tornado. After all it was just 8.30 pm. He might have a habit of going to sleep by ten or eleven o' clock unless Jimin called him at midnight or vice versa - even that didn't happen on daily basis. But today, he might just stay up all night because of some uninvited guests. He thought he should at least warn his mom, so he sauntered to where she was, in her room, of course.
He got back to his room to sit in peace and savor the last few moments of it before they were shredded into pieces. When the bell rang he sighed and got up to welcome the monsters.
It was going to be a long night.
